Joey was struck in a sore spot by Old John, and he immediately became furious. However, despite his anger, he hadn't lost his mind. While he couldn't afford to provoke Old John, it didn't mean he couldn't handle Jin Muchen, who he found annoying.
"Hey! Yellow kid, what are you looking at? Not convinced? Do you want to taste Grandpa's big banana?"
A chorus of laughter erupted from the group of burly men behind Joey, all of them looking at Jin Muchen with provocative eyes.
Jin Muchen gave a cold laugh. "You just ate shit, why don't you brush your teeth? Is that your hobby? Besides hitting women, do you also like eating shit?"
Having lived in America for two years, he had certainly experienced the unwritten rules, both overt and covert. The most unbearable of these was racial discrimination. Ordinary white people might still try to hide it to some extent, but this guy in front of him had openly shown his prejudice. Jin Muchen was not someone with a good temper, and he couldn't tolerate such people.
Moreover, he was not the same person he used to be. After the incident a few days ago, especially after discovering that his strength had increased, he had picked up the Ba Ji Quan that his grandfather had taught him.
He had thought he would be very rusty after not practicing for so long, but unexpectedly, he quickly got back into it. He could feel that his current body was very adaptable to this set of boxing techniques. It seemed that the saying "a strong body means strong power" was true. Moves and techniques that he couldn't do before now came naturally. He could clearly feel that his boxing skills had improved dramatically.
Moreover, that change seemed to have affected not just his body but also his personality. He had become more confident and more aggressive. If he had encountered such a situation in the past, he might have been angry but, being in a foreign country where he didn't know anyone, he might have just endured it. But now, he couldn't tolerate it. With his strength, why should he fear such a thug?
Jin Muchen didn't like to cause trouble, but that didn't mean he was afraid of it. He wasn't afraid of such people even before, and now he was even less afraid. As long as the other party didn't have a gun, he was confident that he could beat them to a pulp with his fists.
Veins bulged on Joey's forehead, and the scene fell into a dead silence. Not many people dared to speak to Joey like that in this place. Many people were holding their beer bottles, ready to watch the show.
"You this..."
"Bang!"
A gunshot interrupted Joey's words, and the Red Foal Bar fell silent. Everyone turned to see the previously kind cook, now standing behind the bar with a smoking Remington in her hand.
"Alright, bastards, either sit down quietly or get out."
Doris, with her gray hair, didn't say much, but her words were very powerful. Most importantly, the smoking Remington in her hand made the rough men here very afraid. Even Joey, who had been so aggressive, glanced at her and finally spat on the ground in anger. The bar quickly returned to its original order.
However, Joey's group didn't leave. They sat not far from Jin Muchen's group and kept giving him evil looks, as if they were waiting for them to leave the bar to cause trouble.
"Bro, wait, we'll cover you. You go out the back door first."
Paul and the others had noticed something was wrong. After discussing with John, they decided to help Jin Muchen, who was now their friend. They couldn't let him suffer.
With Old John still around and on Doris's turf, Joey's group didn't dare to act rashly, but their intentions were clear.
Having only known these coworkers for a day, Jin Muchen was touched by their willingness to stand up for him.
"Thanks, guys, you don't have to do this. I'm not afraid of that bastard."
"Muchen, you're a good kid. We know you're not afraid of Joey, the thug, but listen to us. Those guys are capable of anything. They're notorious for their recklessness and cruelty. Don't be stubborn this time. Follow our plan. We'll cover you."
Old John also advised Jin Muchen. In the bar, he could keep things under control, but he couldn't follow Jin Muchen home step by step.
Jin Muchen smiled at Old John. He knew that if he didn't resolve the current trouble, he might lose the job he had just found. Old John couldn't be his babysitter, and the thugs' workplace was close to his. Even if he avoided them today, they would find him in a few days. He couldn't hide from them forever.
Moreover, with his newfound strength, his mindset had changed. Facing a thug like Joey, he felt an urge to fight.
A bloodthirsty and violent impulse began to stir in his heart. He knew it wasn't a good thing, but he couldn't control it.
At that moment, the thugs ordered more beer. This time, they specifically asked the waitress they had harassed earlier to serve them. Despite her reluctance, she had to bring the beer to them.
The moment she placed the beer on the table, Joey and his group started touching her inappropriately. One of them grabbed her chest, another her buttocks.
The waitress screamed and tried to escape, but Joey grabbed her and let his friends continue to molest her.
"Enough, bastard."
Seeing this, Jin Muchen was furious and stood up abruptly.
Old John and Paul, seeing this, also sighed and stood up.
"What? You, yellow monkey, want to play the hero?"
Joey had been waiting for Jin Muchen to react. He suddenly let go of the waitress, and his group quickly surrounded him. The bar fell silent again.
The other group's contemptuous remarks only fueled Jin Muchen's bloodthirsty impulse, but on the surface, he remained calm.
Everyone else was holding their beer bottles, watching the show, while the waitress quickly slipped away from the crowd.
"Joey, don't go too far."
John said, standing next to Jin Muchen.
"Hmph, too far? I like going too far, so what?"
"Alright, since you want to start trouble, this is Doris's place. Let's settle it the old way?"
John said to Joey. Joey had been looking for an excuse to beat Jin Muchen, but Old John's words reminded him that this was Doris's place. He turned and saw Doris, with a cold expression, holding the Remington and looking at them.
"Fine, let's do it the old way!"
Joey, who had been trying to act tough, suddenly calmed down. Doris was not an ordinary old lady, and her son was notorious.
Hearing Joey agree, Old John's face lit up. He turned to Jin Muchen and whispered in his ear.
"Don't be afraid. This is Doris's place. They won't fight. The old way is arm wrestling. You're strong, you'll definitely win him."
Jin Muchen smiled faintly but didn't respond.
Everyone in the bar understood what the "old way" meant. A small area was quickly cleared, and a small round table was brought in. Jin Muchen and Joey sat on opposite sides of the table.
Joey was dressed in a hippie style, wearing a leather vest, with hairy and very muscular arms, especially his forearms, which were as thick as a king crab's claw.
In contrast, Jin Muchen was slender, though muscular, but his arms were much thinner than Joey's.
"Hehe, kid, come on, I'll break your arm. When you cry and go back to your mom, don't say I didn't warn you."
Joey's lewd words made his group burst into laughter. Even the onlookers laughed. Just by looking at their builds, most people didn't think Jin Muchen had a chance. He was about six feet two inches tall, which wasn't short even among tall Americans, but his slim build made people doubt him.
Compared to the muscular Joey, Jin Muchen was too thin. Joey's upper arms were almost as thick as Jin Muchen's thighs, so most people didn't think the Asian kid had a chance.
Only Paul and the others still had some confidence in Jin Muchen. They had seen him work hard during the day. This kid was not just strong; his stamina and endurance were also exceptional.
However, arm wrestling wasn't about stamina or endurance but about explosive power. With Joey's arms almost as thick as Jin Muchen's thighs, their confidence in him wasn't as strong.
Jin Muchen smiled faintly and walked to the round table but didn't sit down immediately. Instead, he looked around and found two steak knives on a nearby dining table.
These knives were not the smooth, rounded stainless steel knives seen on TV but the most primitive and rugged steak knives.
