Chapter 8

No matter what, those insensitive alloy prosthetics were far inferior to his original limbs. In the real world, Liu Qian had already become a disabled person without hands or feet.

Unexpectedly, after entering the 'Thrill World' game, his limbs were intact and back on his body, restoring him to a normal person with hands and feet. This could be considered a stroke of luck in his misfortune.

Liu Qian analyzed that it was likely the game company used some kind of high technology to teleport players into the game world. When he was teleported into this game world, his body scan mistakenly identified his alloy prosthetics as normal limbs, leading to data errors and resulting in his current condition.

Regardless of the principle or the truth, it seemed that he had benefited from his misfortune, regaining his arms and legs in this world overrun by zombies. As long as he could escape his current predicament, with his parkour skills and robust physical condition, he had many advantages over other players, which seemed to increase his chances of survival here.

While sitting on the billboard frame, Liu Qian closely watched the movements in the square. He observed that the players who were killed were mostly devoured by the zombies in the square, leaving only some scattered bones and remains on the ground.

Then, these players did not log back into the game.

He didn't know what happened to them after they died, or whether they didn't log back in out of fear, or if, as the skinny player had said, dying in the game meant truly dying, preventing them from logging back in. In any case, Liu Qian felt a bit uneasy.

The options to exit the game and call the GM were both ineffective. Liu Qian speculated that perhaps only by killing all the zombies or completing a specific task could he leave this place and return to the real world.

With so many zombies, it wasn't easy to kill them all, so it was likely that he needed to complete a specific task.

If he could return to the real world, Liu Qian thought that the limbs he had regrown here might disappear again, making him a useless person. So, for him now, being trapped in the game world wasn't necessarily more unbearable than returning to the real world.

Therefore, he felt he didn't need to focus on how to exit the game and return to the real world; instead, he should concentrate on how to survive and leave this zombie-infested square.

Liu Qian looked at his wristwatch again. The options to call the GM and exit the game were still grayed out, and the only thing he could open was the character attribute list. However, this attribute list seemed rather simplistic, showing only basic information like heart rate, body temperature, level, hunger, thirst, fatigue, cleanliness, health, and infection levels.

Currently, his infection level was green, his hunger level was green with a slight tinge of orange, his thirst level had turned from orange to red, and his cleanliness and health levels were also green. Based on Liu Qian's estimation, green likely represented normal values, and if these values deviated from the norm, they would gradually turn from green to red or even black. Once they turned red, he needed to be cautious, like his current thirst level.

A cold wind, carrying a chill, blew from the distance, making Liu Qian, who was perched on the billboard, shiver involuntarily. He instinctively looked in the direction of the cold wind and noticed that the lightning, which had been far away on the horizon, was now visible in the nearby sky, indicating that it would soon be overhead.

What was to come would eventually come!

A few minutes later, the wind grew stronger, and the cold wind began to carry fine raindrops. Liu Qian opened his mouth to catch some raindrops to quench his thirst. However, after opening his mouth, he didn't feel the refreshing rain but instead found it hard to breathe due to the cold wind.

But soon Liu Qian was satisfied. The thunderstorm, driven by the wind, quickly arrived over the square, and large raindrops fell from the dark, roiling sky. Liu Qian quickly opened his mouth to the sky and cupped his hands to catch the raindrops falling from above.

Just as Liu Qian was about to bring the rainwater he had caught to his mouth to drink, he suddenly remembered something and quickly looked at his hands. Fortunately, the rain from the sky was normal rain, not the red rain that appeared at the beginning of the game.

So Liu Qian drank the rainwater he had caught, which partially quenched his thirst. After drinking this cup of water, Liu Qian quickly cupped his hands again to catch more rain, so as not to miss this rainfall.

However, Liu Qian's worry was clearly unnecessary. Soon, the individual raindrops merged into a torrential downpour, as if countless large buckets were continuously pouring from the sky, quickly drenching Liu Qian from head to toe. His stomach quickly became full, and his thirst was completely quenched. Drinking any more would give him a feeling of drowning.

"Damn! That's enough! Don't pour anymore!" Liu Qian continuously wiped the rain from his face to regain his vision. His drenched body began to shiver in the cold wind and rain. If the heavy rain continued, he would eventually freeze to death.

A blinding white light pierced through the heavy curtain of water, blinding Liu Qian's eyes. Immediately after, a thunderclap sounded in his ears, directly stunning his eardrums, leaving him deaf for several minutes, and the sound of the heavy rain became muffled.

Liu Qian's heart raced. Judging from the blinding white light and the thunderclap that was so close, the lightning had likely struck near the billboard. If it had been any closer, it might have been attracted to the billboard, and if the lightning had struck the billboard, Liu Qian, who was sitting on it, would have been burned to a crisp.

Liu Qian quickly covered his ears to prevent another close thunderclap from deafening him.

After the initial thunderclap, the blinding white light continued to flash in Liu Qian's eyes, and thunderclaps kept sounding around him, each one seeming closer than the last. Even with his ears covered, each thunderclap felt like it was striking his heart, making his heart rate faster and his fear grow.
