### Chapter 8: A New Beginning

* * *

A lot has happened.

If I had to pick the most significant event, it would undoubtedly be the issue regarding my identity.

I suddenly became a woman.

Even though my family believes me and the genetic test confirms that I am Yoo Jin, the legally recorded Yoo Jin is still a man.

Despite being myself, Yoo Jin is no longer entirely my identity.

In Korean society, one's identity is crucial.

You need your identity and resident registration number for almost everything, and this was essential for my new life.

Therefore, there were a few methods to obtain a new identity.

The first was to become a person without a family register, with my parents as guarantors, to acquire a completely new identity.

It was a straightforward method. I initially considered this after some investigation, but it fell through due to my parents' opposition.

There were various reasons, but the main one was this:

"You are our child. A person without a family register? No way."

In other words, they refused to make me a person without legal parents, even if it was just on paper.

Even if I were to go through the adoption process, I would not be legally recognized as their biological child.

The second method was to apply for a gender change as Yoo Jin, based on the genetic test results and my parents' testimony.

I thought my parents wouldn't object to this, but I was wrong.

"No."

They didn't give a specific reason.

They just added:

"For your own good, Yoo Jin."

There was no need to ask about illegal methods.

"Your parents will take care of it. You just stay put."

So, I stayed put.

"I've made some soup. Heat it up and eat it. Got it? Don't skip meals. I have somewhere to go. Your father will be late too."

It seemed my parents were very busy, despite telling me to stay put.

"Okay, okay. I understand."

I heard they mobilized all their connections and spent a considerable amount of money.

Apparently, the amount of money they spent, known or unknown, exceeded the value of a house.

The way my identity was changed was somewhat unique.

I remained Yoo Jin, the child of my parents, but only my gender was changed.

It wasn't just a simple gender change application.

It was a much more complex, tedious, and seemingly unnecessary process.

From what I heard, they initially registered my gender as intersex and then corrected the error based on the doctor's opinion.

It was a very complicated story, so I don't fully understand the details.

"But what's the doctor's opinion? I've never been to a hospital?"

"Just know that."

It felt like the money for a house had gone somewhere.

If I had been a draft-eligible male, the process would have been much more difficult with the involvement of the Military Manpower Administration, but fortunately, I was originally exempt, so it didn't come to that.

It was just a matter of submitting a few documents.

It was possible because I was a rare disease patient with no external activities.

In summary, I didn't become a woman from a man; rather, I had been living as a woman, but due to the rare disease, my gender was incorrectly recorded as male.

Honestly, I didn't think it was necessary to go to such lengths.

"What's the difference? Isn't it the same thing?"

"You'll understand later."

It seemed my parents were concerned about any potential social stigma I might face in the future.

Orphan, abandoned child, transgender, liar, and so on.

'Well, in this world, even a little bit of fame can bring up all sorts of past issues.'

No matter what life I lead in the future, my parents, who worry about me more than anyone, must have been overly cautious.

"Yoo Jin, what do you want to do about your name?"

My name...

I thought for a moment and then answered.

"I like it as it is. It's not an awkward name for a woman, right?"

Since I didn't have any significant human relationships outside my family, I didn't feel the need to change it.

If I revealed my name as Yoo Jin, no one would recognize me.

"Okay, let's keep it that way."

My parents seemed to think it was fine to keep the name.

Or maybe they always intended to keep it that way.

If my name changed too, it would feel like I was no longer their child.

"It will take about three months to process and finalize all the documents. It might take longer."

Three months.

About 90 days.

It's a short time in a person's life, but knowing it's not the end, I wasn't too disappointed.

"Got it."

My mother smiled lightly in response and hurried off.

After my mother left, I slowly turned my gaze to the monitor.

"Three months."

As Yoo Jin, there was nothing I needed to sort out.

I had always been alone.

But it was different online.

I had formed many connections online.

In other words, I had to sever all the online connections I had made by at least three months from now.

It felt strange.

Even though they were just online connections...

It felt strange.

'I could stay as I am, but I've already taken the pro test as a prisoner.'

The results were terrible, but the information about the prisoner spread widely.

To live a new life, I had to end my life as a prisoner.

'If I hadn't taken the pro test, it might not have been necessary... but no, there's no need to regret it.'

Even if the information about the prisoner hadn't spread, I would have needed a new account in my name to become a pro, so I would have created a new ID with my new identity.

In any case, the moment I became a woman, my life as a prisoner was bound to end someday.

Solo Rank 1, Prisoner.

Amateur 1, Prisoner.

I had to end the reputation I was proud of with my own hands.

And if I was going to end it, I wanted to do it as the best prisoner.

Fortunately, I had the time.

"Alright."

I had three months left.

I would spend that time creating the best ending.

*

How do I create the best ending as a prisoner?

In fact, the answer was already decided.

Solo Rank Warrior, Prisoner.

There was only one thing such a prisoner could do.

[Game found!]

[Accept / Decline]

"Of course, accept."

"Ah."

It was a late pick.

For the red team, a late pick.

There's a saying:

The blue team's first pick is the most important,

The red team's late pick is the most important.

In this case, the outcome of the game could depend on my pick.

'The problem is that my teammates are first picks...'

In such cases, the reaction is usually the same.

[Jungler'sSlave: Jungler, can we swap?]

As expected.

Jungler'sSlave.

Despite the name, he's a top laner.

And I know one more thing.

His original nickname was MYE LaLaLa.

A professional player from the MYE team.

As the name suggests, his playstyle is not about pressuring the opponent laner but helping the allied jungler or taking the enemy jungler's vision.

Unlike other top laners, he contributes significantly to the team, so it wouldn't be bad to let him have the pick.

I checked the bans.

[Ban List]

Rumble / Kai'Sa

Graves / Orianna

Morgana / Sylas

Kai'Sa / Zilean

Aatrox / Shaco

Fortunately, 'that pick' was still available.

[Prisoner: Leesin, please.]

There's nothing better than a first pick.

[Jungler'sSlave: Sure, sure.]

Most importantly, I had recently found Leesin very enjoyable, so it wasn't a bad choice.

I have to go there.

Leesin was picked, and the pick went to the enemy team.

Keeek.

Rek'Sai.

A traditional counter to Leesin, but with high Leesin proficiency, it's a 50-50 match.

Of course, that's an old story. The current Leesin is an OP champion, so there's no counter.

The ban-pick phase continued, and finally, it was my turn.

[Jungler'sSlave: Leesin, can I take it?]

Leesin is currently a hot OP champion in the top lane.

I had expected this, and it wasn't bad for me, so there was no reason to refuse.

[Prisoner: Sure.]

[Jungler'sSlave: Thank you.]

This is the effect of an OP champion's first pick, allowing for a lane swap.

'In this situation, this is the best choice.'

Without hesitation, I picked Kindred.

Run or fight, the result is the same!

Kindred.

If Rek'Sai is a traditional counter to Leesin, Kindred is a long-standing counter to Rek'Sai.

However, while Leesin vs. Rek'Sai is roughly 4.5 to 5.5 in favor of Rek'Sai, Kindred vs. Rek'Sai is 6 to 4, or even 6.5 to 3.5 in extreme cases.

This guy will want to dodge.
