Lin Chen said, "To be honest, my ancestors were imperial physicians, and I learned some skills from my grandfather since I was young. Moreover, many problems that modern medicine can't solve can actually be cured with some traditional methods. If you allow me, I would like to give it a try."
Lin Chen's words were half true and half false. His grandfather was indeed a doctor, and he did learn some things from him.
According to his grandfather, their family did have an ancestor who was an imperial physician, but whether it was true or not, Lin Chen didn't know.
However, it was a lie that Lin Chen learned much from his grandfather. His grandfather was just a village doctor, capable of treating common colds and fevers, and couldn't teach him much.
But now, with the inheritance he had obtained, Lin Chen had enough confidence to treat Tan Hengxing's father. Unless it was truly the end, and the vital energy was completely depleted, Lin Chen was confident that he could cure the patient even if there was just a breath left.
This strong confidence partly came from the influence of the cold Dongliu in his dream, and partly from his understanding of his current medical skills.
Hearing Lin Chen's words, Tan Hengxing finally nodded.
He had indeed heard of cases where so-called incurable diseases, which major hospitals said were untreatable, were cured by some traditional methods. The hospital staff had told him that his father's condition was beyond cure, and they could only prolong his life. So, he thought it might be worth a try, treating a dead horse as if it were alive.
Thus, after changing back into his clothes, Lin Chen followed Tan Hengxing to a critical care ward.
In the ward, a female doctor in a white coat was talking to the elderly man on the bed. A few nurses and a male doctor stood beside her.
Seeing the female doctor, Lin Chen couldn't help but be impressed.
She was around twenty-three or twenty-four years old, with long golden hair, black eyes, and a face that exuded an exotic charm, yet also had a classical elegance typical of East Asians. She was about 175 cm tall and, wearing high heels, was even taller than Lin Chen. Her long legs were particularly eye-catching.
She was undoubtedly a beautiful mixed-race woman blessed by heaven.
Tan Hengxing walked in and asked the female doctor, "Doctor Leng, how is it? Has there been any improvement?"
The mixed-race beauty, Doctor Leng, shook her head and sighed, "The situation is very bad. Mr. Tan has many underlying conditions. Now that he is older, his old illnesses have resurfaced, and his internal organs are very weak. Surgery is impossible. All we can do is try to prolong his life as much as possible."
Tan Hengxing's face turned grim, "How much longer?"
Doctor Leng replied, "At most, one year."
Tan Hengxing's face turned pale.
The elderly man on the bed, however, had a very calm expression. He said to Tan Hengxing, "Hengxing, life and death are predetermined. There's no point in forcing it. I have no regrets in my life, so don't be too sad."
Tan Hengxing, however, still looked unwilling. He and his father had a deep bond, and he found it hard to accept his father's departure.
Lin Chen, at this moment, admired the old man. It was rare to see such composure in the face of death.
Lin Chen said, "Old man, let me take your pulse, shall I?"
In fact, just by looking at the old man's complexion and their earlier conversation, Lin Chen already had a good understanding of his condition. However, he still wanted to take his pulse to ensure everything was correct, showing his responsibility to the patient.
The people in the room seemed to notice Lin Chen's presence only now. Tan Hengxing, who had been in despair, clung to this last straw and said eagerly, "Yes, yes! Young man, please take a look at my father! Maybe your traditional methods will work!"
However, Doctor Leng's face turned sour when she heard this.
To her, it sounded as if the years of professional knowledge she had acquired were inferior to so-called traditional methods!
Before Doctor Leng could speak, the male doctor beside her spoke up, "Mr. Tan, what do you mean? Doctor Leng said it's incurable, and you think this guy, who looks like he's from a street market, can cure it? Doctor Leng graduated with a Ph.D. from Harvard Medical School at the age of twenty-four. If she says it's incurable, no one can cure it!"
At the end, he didn't forget to flatter her, clearly trying to win her favor.
In fact, all the men in the hospital were very fond of this mixed-race female doctor. Every man dreamed of sleeping with this 175 cm tall, 114 cm legged blonde beauty.
Doctor Leng also said, "Mr. Tan, I understand your concern for Mr. Tan's condition, but you must think carefully. If an unqualified person tries to treat Mr. Tan, the situation will only get worse. I can make him live for another year, but if someone else tries to treat him recklessly, he might not even last half a year!"
Tan Hengxing was initially annoyed by the male doctor's questioning. As a prominent entertainment mogul, when had he ever been questioned by a junior doctor? But now, hearing about his father's safety, he hesitated, "This..."
In his heart, he didn't really believe that Lin Chen could cure his father.
Seeing that they were hesitating and seemed unwilling to let him treat the patient, Lin Chen frowned.
Lin Chen, though not Cold Dongliu, had inherited his legacy and was influenced by him in his dreams. Who was Cold Dongliu? He wasn't just a doctor; he was a bloodthirsty demon who killed at the slightest provocation!
Lin Chen didn't have the same level of ferocity, but he was still influenced by him.
Cold Dongliu's domineering and self-assured demeanor had subtly influenced Lin Chen in his dreams.
Now that he had decided to treat this old man and needed Tan Hengxing's help, he wouldn't tolerate any refusal after the initial agreement.
Lin Chen immediately walked over to the old man. The male doctor sneered and grabbed his shoulder. Lin Chen's shoulder trembled, and the doctor's hand dislocated with a crack, causing him to scream in pain.
Everything happened in an instant. By the time everyone reacted, Lin Chen had already placed his hand on the old man's wrist, and the male doctor was on the ground, screaming in pain.
Tan Hengxing, seeing the male doctor on the ground, looked at Lin Chen in shock. Only then did he truly believe that Lin Chen might be able to save his father.
The female doctor, however, had no idea what it meant for Lin Chen to dislocate someone's shoulder with a shoulder shake. After instructing two nurses to take the male doctor for treatment, she angrily said, "How can you hit someone in a hospital? What kind of doctor are you? You're nothing but a thug!"
Lin Chen ignored her and continued to take the old man's pulse. After a while, he asked the old man,
"What did you do in the past? Your body has two severe injuries, which must have been from a long time ago. One even damaged your heart. If I'm not mistaken, those two injuries were gunshots."
The old man, who had been calm throughout, now looked shocked, as if he had seen a ghost.
