Chapter 18

Su Zhe was playing with the baby, enjoying a carefree time, but he didn't know that some people were deeply worried about him.

In a ward at the Yan Yun City People's Hospital, a girl lay quietly on the bed, her eyes fixed on the window, lost in thought.

The girl was Ling Ruoxue, the one Su Zhe had saved today. Ling Ruoxue had suffered from congenital heart disease since childhood. She had visited many hospitals, both domestically and abroad, but her heart condition could never be completely cured, and could only be managed with medication to slow its progression.

In fact, Ling Ruoxue already knew that she didn't have much time left. She could feel it herself, but she didn't want her parents, who had worried so much about her, to be even more saddened, so she always acted very optimistic. When she overheard a conversation between the doctor and her father, it confirmed her suspicions. She only had three months left.

Knowing that her life was down to just three months, Ling Ruoxue felt a sense of relief, almost a feeling of liberation. Each time her condition flared up, she suffered greatly. She only kept going to make her parents feel better, fighting against death, but now she felt extremely tired.

Even after learning this news, she still acted very optimistic, as if she didn't know her condition. She only asked to go home, not wanting to spend her last days in the hospital. Her parents also knew that staying in the hospital wouldn't help much, and that a good mood at home might benefit her, so they arranged for her discharge.

After staying at home for two days, Ling Ruoxue sneaked out while her mother was resting. She wanted to go out and see the world alone, fearing she might never have the chance again. Unexpectedly, due to excessive physical exertion, her heart condition suddenly flared up.

As she fell, she knew many people were anxiously calling out to her, wanting to help but not knowing how. At that moment, she felt a warmth, realizing that besides her parents, so many people cared about her. As she felt increasingly distressed, she was almost at her limit. Seeing so many people worried about her, she felt deeply satisfied.

Just as Ling Ruoxue was about to give up, she suddenly heard a warm, pleasant voice. The owner of the voice began to perform first aid on her. She could feel that the person's technique was quite clumsy, and when they performed mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, she wanted to open her eyes to see the person who had taken her first kiss, but she couldn't manage it.

The person persisted, repeatedly breathing into her. If she could have spoken, she would have told them to give up, as she knew it wouldn't help. Later, when Ling Ruoxue had already lost her breath and her heartbeat had stopped, the person did something to her mouth.

She only felt her breathing and heartbeat gradually return. She was then taken to an ambulance, and when she woke up, she couldn't find the person. There were many people around who had helped her, but she could sense that the person wasn't among them.

When the hospital informed Ling Ruoxue's parents, her mother almost fainted. The couple rushed to the hospital and only relaxed when they saw that she was fine.

Although the doctor said that Ling Ruoxue's current condition was good and there was no need to worry too much, they still insisted on a full-body check-up for her. When the results came out, they both burst into tears, making Ling Ruoxue think her condition had worsened, and she even tried to comfort them.

However, when they urgently asked who had helped her today, they learned from the doctor that her condition had improved, and they were overjoyed. According to the doctor, the person who saved Ling Ruoxue today had likely done something that significantly improved her condition.

So they were eager to find out who that person was. When they learned that she had already been unconscious, they asked the people who had come with the ambulance, but with little success. Everyone could only give a rough description of the person's appearance and clothing, as their focus had been on Ling Ruoxue.

After hearing this, the couple decided to do whatever it took to find Su Zhe, as he was the only one who could save their daughter. Although Su Zhe had saved Ling Ruoxue today, it had only slightly extended her life, so they had to find him before her time ran out.

Su Zhe, of course, had no idea that many people were trying to find him, nor did he know that he had saved a life today. He had accidentally used 5 points of divine power on Ling Ruoxue, initially worried about any adverse effects, but when he saw her condition improve and his points increased by 5 to 12, he felt relieved. At least it showed that the divine power was beneficial to Ling Ruoxue.

Su Zhe, unaware of everything, played with the baby at the amusement park all day before returning home. The baby fell asleep in Su Zhe's arms shortly after getting in the car, having played all day. Even Su Zhe, with his 12 points of constitution, was exhausted, let alone the baby, who was so young.

Su Zhe held the baby on his lap, trying to minimize the impact of the bumpy road.

When they got home, Su Zhe carried the baby to the bedroom and placed her on the bed. As he put her down, the baby mumbled, "Brother, the baby wants to play this again. Look, you can fly up in this." Su Zhe thought the baby had woken up, but then realized she was talking in her sleep.

Su Zhe gently covered the baby with a blanket and left the room. Seeing the sulcata tortoise looking at him pitifully, he remembered he hadn't fed the tortoises all day.

He went to the kitchen and opened the refrigerator. Fortunately, he had bought enough food yesterday to last the tortoises a week. He took out some carrots and vegetables, cut them into small pieces, and added a few cherry tomatoes as a post-meal treat for the sulcata tortoise.

He thought for a moment and cut some more vegetables into smaller pieces for the golden-headed box turtles and Chinese grass turtles, thinking it might be good to change their diet from just turtle food.

When he brought the food out, he found the sulcata tortoise already waiting at its usual feeding spot. He gave the food to the tortoises, who ate it ravenously, with the sulcata tortoise eating the most. The golden-headed box turtles and the Chinese grass turtles also enjoyed the vegetables.

After they finished eating, Su Zhe moved the storage box to the bathroom. Since he hadn't set up a filter in the box, the water got dirty easily. He picked up all the tortoises and carefully washed the box. He even used a toothbrush to clean the shells of the golden-headed box turtles and the Chinese grass turtles. After washing everything, he refilled the box with water and put it back in place.

He then called the sulcata tortoise to the bathroom to clean its shell. Since the sulcata tortoise was so large, using a toothbrush would take too long, so he used a clothes brush. After cleaning the back shell, he flipped the sulcata tortoise over to clean its plastron. At this point, he realized how heavy the sulcata tortoise was, estimating it to weigh at least 100 kilograms.

Finally, he used 10 points of divine power on the remaining four golden-headed box turtles. Two of them had plastrons measuring 60mm, and the other two were around 80mm. Su Zhe estimated that the smaller ones were males and the larger ones were females, as female golden-headed box turtles generally grow faster and heavier.

After finishing these tasks, he took a shower. Exhausted, he soon fell asleep on the bed.
