On the way back, Hao Meng called Bai Lan.
"Hello!" Bai Lan's tone was a bit harsh, seemingly in a bad mood.
"Sis Bai, I heard Xiao Fei said you went on a blind date at noon? Hehe, how did it go? What were the results?" Hao Meng asked with a grin.
Bai Lan was in a bad mood: "Don't bring up the pot that doesn't boil. If you have something to say, say it quickly. I don't have the patience to play around with you!"
Hao Meng touched his nose, trying to hail a taxi, but it was hard to find one on this road. As he walked forward, he said with a smile: "They didn't like you? No worries, it's their poor judgment. A beauty like Sis Bai, how could you not find a husband? Don't worry, buns will come, pickled vegetables will come, and millet porridge will come too!"
Bai Lan was amused by him, knowing he was sincere: "Are you looking for a scolding? If you don't say it, I'll hang up!"
Hao Meng hurriedly said: "No, no, let's get to the point. The batch of old phones you bought, I've taken them. About 2,000 units, not bad, but the quantity is not enough. I'll give you 3,000 yuan for this batch. In the future, you need to collect more for me. The more, the better. If you run out of money, you can advance some for me. I'll bring them to you in a couple of days!"
"3,000?" Bai Lan was taken aback, then laughed: "Okay, I was worried you wouldn't take too many. There are plenty of those old phones."
Hao Meng thought for a moment and added: "Sis Bai, this time, try to collect more smartphones. If non-smartphones are cheap, take them; if not, you can hold off for now!"
No matter what, smartphones are the mainstay.
"Got it, anything else?" Bai Lan asked.
"No, wait, there is!" Hao Meng remembered that he had repaired over a thousand phones and needed to sell them. Relying solely on Yang Xiaoshuang, she would never sell them all.
"Say it quickly, I'm waiting for a ride!" Bai Lan rolled her eyes.
Hao Meng said: "Here's the thing. I have a batch of refurbished second-hand phones. They look brand new from the outside, no box or accessories. Even if you open them, no one can tell they're refurbished. The quality is top-notch. Do you have any connections, Sis Bai?"
Bai Lan frowned, thinking for a moment: "What's the price?"
"Non-smartphones, 50 yuan each. Smartphones range from 200 to 5,000 yuan, depending on the model. If the quantity is large, the price can be a bit lower!" Hao Meng calculated.
"How many are there?"
"1,000 non-smartphones, and a few hundred smartphones." Hao Meng paused, then continued: "I can bring the phones over, and you can start selling them. Once you get the money, you can pay me back. You don't need to advance any money!"
"Okay, I'll try selling them!" Bai Lan didn't think much about it, not realizing that this casual and accidental opportunity would make her the largest second-hand phone wholesaler in the entire city.
"Anything else?"
Hao Meng grinned: "When you have your period, drink more sugar water to replenish your blood and qi. Women have those few days of trouble every month. Remember to stay calm and composed. Being too irritable isn't good. Being more ladylike is more appealing. Even though this blind date didn't work out, it doesn't mean the next one won't. Failure is the mother of success. If you fall, you can get up and keep going!"
Bai Lan was silent for a moment: "Done?"
"Almost!" Hao Meng smiled.
"Then you better go back and prepare for the aftermath!" Bai Lan hung up.
Hao Meng shook his head with a smile. This senior, though only two years older than him, was only in her mid-twenties. She had a good figure, a pretty face, her own career, and didn't need to rely on a man. Why was her family so anxious, constantly urging her to go on blind dates? He really couldn't understand what her mother was thinking.
Every family has its own troubles!
At a crossroads, a crowd had gathered. Curious, Hao Meng walked over and squeezed in to look. A tall, muscular young man in a construction uniform was lying on the ground, spitting blood from his mouth. His eyes were still open, but he couldn't move. About twenty meters ahead, a black car was parked diagonally.
"This young man is really unlucky, thrown over ten meters by the car!"
"Who can blame him? The driver ran a red light and drove the wrong way."
"Alas, I think he's almost gone."
Hao Meng understood the situation at a glance. No one dared to approach. The driver of the hit-and-run car had stopped for a moment, then started the car and drove away. Hao Meng frowned, thinking for a moment, then stepped forward. If he hadn't seen it, he could pretend he didn't know, but now that he had, he had to lend a hand. He couldn't let his conscience be so cold.
The young man on the ground still had his eyes open. When he saw Hao Meng, his eyes moved, but he kept spitting blood. His head was either broken or cracked, and blood was flowing out. He couldn't move.
"Bro, it's okay, hang in there. The ambulance should be here soon." Hao Meng squatted down, reached out to cover the wound on his head, and asked the crowd: "Has anyone called 120?"
No one spoke. Hao Meng guessed no one had called. He sighed, took out his phone, and dialed 120. The victim had been thrown by the car, and it was unknown what internal injuries he had. Without professional help, it was best not to move him, to avoid making things worse!
"Hehe, you're tough. Thrown so far and still so alert. It's just a minor injury, you'll probably be fine by tomorrow!" Hao Meng whispered, trying to encourage him. At this moment, what this person needed was some mental encouragement to keep him going. It was clear that although he couldn't move, his eyes were bright and focused, not scattered. From his spirit, it seemed he wasn't in mortal danger.
The young man was interesting, his lips twitched, maybe he was smiling.
A few minutes later, the ambulance arrived, fortunately, it was in the city center, not far from the hospital. The injured man was placed on a stretcher, and Hao Meng was also asked to come along as a witness. At the hospital, since they couldn't contact his family, Hao Meng paid for the hospitalization and emergency fees.
"Doctor, how is he?" Hao Meng asked the emergency doctor who came out.
The doctor shook his head: "The situation is not good. The patient has at least five broken ribs, one of which has pierced his liver. He has multiple fractures and abrasions, internal bleeding, and a mild concussion." He paused and added in surprise: "Normally, someone with such severe injuries would have already gone into shock and lost consciousness. It's surprising that he can still maintain consciousness!"
"So serious?" Hao Meng was stunned. He thought it was just a minor injury that wouldn't be fatal, but from what the doctor said, it seemed the patient was on the brink of death, and whether he could be saved was uncertain.
"The patient needs surgery immediately. Go pay the fees quickly!" The doctor said and walked away quickly.
Hao Meng smiled bitterly and cursed. How could he be involved in such a situation? Well, since he came along, he had to pay. As for whether the guy would survive, it was up to his fate.
