Hao Meng paid another 20,000 yuan as a deposit, and the injured person was wheeled into the operating room. Not long after, the police arrived, asked Hao Meng some questions, and then left. As for the investigation, it wasn't Hao Meng's concern; even if he wanted to get involved, he couldn't. However, with so many people around and the traffic lights and surveillance cameras at the intersection, the hit-and-run driver shouldn't be able to escape!

"If I had saved a beautiful girl, that would have been great!" Hao Meng muttered to himself, sitting on a chair outside the operating room. He couldn't leave even if he wanted to. The man who was hit had no phone and no contact information, and Hao Meng didn't know where he came from. He didn't really care about the money; he just hoped the man inside would pull through. After all, they say saving a life is better than building a seven-story pagoda, a virtuous deed!

It was almost dark, and the operating room light was still on.

At the store, Wei Shufen frowned, as Hao Meng hadn't shown up all day and hadn't called. She didn't know what he was up to. Chang Mei, seeing her worried, gently nudged her with her shoulder and whispered, "Wei Sister, to be honest, are you interested in the young boss?"

"You, you're talking nonsense! I'm already a mother, much older than Xiao Meng. How could that be possible!" Wei Shufen's face turned red as she denied it.

Chang Mei laughed and said, "What's the big deal? If you can't be the main one, you can be the secondary one. The young boss treats you so well. Men and women are all the same, right? I'm not saying this to be mean, but when it comes to certain things, you have to act quickly. If you wait, you might miss out."

Wei Shufen didn't respond, understanding Chang Mei's meaning. She was suggesting that Wei Shufen should take the initiative.

"Sister, listen to me. Although we haven't known each other long, we get along well. Look at you, taking care of Guo Guo, with no place to go. If you don't have someone to rely on, how will you live in the future? The young boss may be young, but I see that he has real skills. When the store first opened, I thought it was just a junk shop, but now I know it's not. Listen to me, take the initiative. Even if the young boss finds a girlfriend in the future, he won't neglect you."

Chang Mei's tone was sincere. Although she was younger than Wei Shufen, she understood men very well. Men all want multiple wives and concubines.

Just then, a customer came to her clothing store, and Chang Mei went to attend to them. Wei Shufen sat on the sofa, thinking about what Chang Mei had said. The more she thought, the more she agreed. She didn't know where to go with Guo Guo except here. Her husband was dead, and she couldn't return to her hometown. Without someone to rely on, she didn't know how she would live. But would Xiao Meng be interested in her, a woman past her prime?

It was almost dark, and Hao Meng still hadn't returned. Wei Shufen thought for a moment and couldn't help but call him, worried without any news.

"Sister Shufen, I'm at the hospital... It's not me, but someone else. I'm waiting for news. It's hard to explain right now. I'll tell you when I get back. By the way, I might not be back tonight. Close the door early after you and Guo Guo have dinner. I'll call you if I come back."

Hao Meng hung up and smiled. The feeling of someone caring about him was definitely more comforting than being alone and ignored.

It wasn't until 9:30 PM that the operating room light turned off.

Hao Meng stood up from the chair in the corridor and asked, "Doctor, how is the man inside?"

"The surgery was successful, and the patient has passed the critical stage."

Hao Meng felt a weight lift off his chest. It was a relief that the man had made it. Otherwise, he would have felt terrible for all the effort he had put in. As long as the man was alive, there was hope. If he died, everything would be over, and it would have nothing to do with Hao Meng.

In the morning, Hao Meng woke up and went to the store first. He left fifty smartphones for Wei Shufen to sell. If she had any questions, she could consult the young woman from the neighboring clothing store. For items like refrigerators and washing machines, if someone bought them, they could move them themselves. He wouldn't be responsible for delivery for the next few days because he was busy.

"Are they so new?" Bai Lan looked at the boxes of phones Hao Meng had brought from the car. She took one out and tried it; the feel was good, and there were no issues.

"They're almost as good as new. Sell them as you see fit. I'll give you a ten percent commission," Hao Meng said with a smile, pausing, "If you add a charger, you can sell them as new. They're great for promotions or as gifts. The quality is definitely good and durable."

"Non-smartphones for fifty yuan each?"

"Yes, the retail price is eighty yuan, but if you buy in bulk, it's fifty yuan each. Sell them for eighty yuan each. If you have nothing else to do, you can set up a stall at the entrance. You should be able to sell a few a day."

Hao Meng smiled and nodded. The key to selling second-hand phones was the low price. Who cares about a few dozen yuan these days?

Before leaving, Hao Meng left 20,000 yuan with Bai Lan. He didn't have any more. He had already paid 20,000 yuan as a deposit at the hospital, and the rest of his money was here.

"Are these phones really refurbished?" Fei Yu asked, flipping through them after Hao Meng left.

Bai Lan rolled her eyes and said, "How should I know! If you like one, just pick it. It's free."

"Really?" Fei Yu exclaimed happily.

Bai Lan smiled and said, "Really. Who would have thought that little bastard would upset me yesterday? I forgot to deal with him earlier. One isn't enough, so take two. I'll pick one too. A fat sheep, not to be missed!"

The two of them treated Hao Meng like a fat sheep. They each picked a phone they liked before even selling any.

"Sale, big sale! Over there, eighty yuan each; here, three hundred yuan each. Don't miss out, annual blood-letting sale!" Fei Yu held a megaphone and waved, calling out. Bai Lan set up a stall at the entrance as Hao Meng had instructed. The store wasn't busy, and the two of them had nothing to do.

"So cheap?"

"Really eighty yuan each?"

There were quite a few people on the street. Hearing about the cheap goods, many gathered around. Some were just curious, some really wanted to buy, and some wanted to see what an eighty-yuan phone looked like.

"Eighty, all eighty. Pick any, choose any!" Fei Yu called out loudly.

"I'll take one!"

"Why are there no chargers, boxes, or earphones?"

"There are none, no chargers, no boxes, no earphones. Just the phone, eighty yuan, a blood-letting sale. Why look for chargers and earphones? Just buy them yourself. We sell them in the store, a charger and earphones for one hundred yuan." Bai Lan replied. Some people tried to haggle, but Bai Lan and Fei Yu ignored them.

Finally, Bai Lan, annoyed by the questions, said, "This is the price. Take it or leave it. It's already a blood-letting sale. How much cheaper do you want?"

In less than two hours, the batch of non-smartphones, over a thousand units, were all sold. The reason was simple: they were cheap. At eighty yuan each, many people bought several. With touch screen phones being the norm, button phones were hard to find. Some bought them for their elderly family members who only needed to make and receive calls, and others bought them for the low price. Many young people also bought them to show off and act cool.
