“I don’t understand, I have resigned[1], everyone says it’s all my fault, why are they pitying Lin Xiaoai?”

“Ji Jiang was my boyfriend, I’m prettier than Lin Xiaoai and better than her at every things, but why do everyone looks at me with contempt, commenting behind my back that I’m a vicious second rich generation?”

Qiao Wei stood at the edge of the rooftop, looking down blankly, her voice sounded sad, ”Because of that Lin Xiao Ai, Ji Jiang and I broke up, my friends stayed away from me, and became close to Lin Xiaoai. The Ji family suppressed and annexed my Qiao family, and I, Qiao Wei, has fallen, from a high and mighty daughter of a rich family to a poor girl who could barely afford the tuition fees.”

“My mom blamed me, my dad scolded me and they all said that I shouldn’t have tried to rob Lin Xiaoai, it’s ridiculous, Ji Jiang was my boyfriend, ah, what do they mean I was robbing her, obviously she was the one who robbed my everything.”

Qiao Wei stood on the rooftop with her head held high, this was perhaps her last chance, she took a small step towards the edge of the roof, her eyes were empty, and tears were falling down, “This world also doesn’t need me, am I really uneedeed?”

Five minutes later…..

A bored voice asked out, “Why aren’t you jumping yet?”

This sudden voice, seemed to be saying ‘I’ve been waiting a long time, and yet this is all you were showing me?’

Qiao Wei was so shocked that she almost fell down.

A warm hand gripped her wrist, and she was forcefully pulled away from the edge in a heartbeat, her legs were still trembling. Thinking about being overheard by someone just now, she was a bit angry and shook the hand away viciously.

“I want you to mind your own business.” She glared at the newcomer with a pale face, and getting little angry at seeing who the other person was, “Nerd, who are you to eavesdrop!”

“I’m just good at listening.”

Ah Xin pushed her black-framed glasses and thought; ‘This body’s name is Yun Xin. I, Ah Xin was summoned by Qiao Wei’s obsession and made a deal with the original body’s owner in order to help her change her fate.’

Why did she want to help Qiao Wei?

She didn’t think about it much, in her mind, all she wanted to do is come and help Qiao Wei.

Qiao Wei wiped the tears from her pretty face and glared at Ah Xin with an arrogant look; “Are you here to stop me from jumping?”

“No, I’m here to see you jump.”

“Nerd, you’re a pain in the ass!” Qiao Wei remembered that she was pulled by her earlier and said as if she had seen through her; “No, you must have come to stop me from jumping, you pulled me just now, but you denied it.”

“Why were you trying to stop me from jumping down? No one likes me and cares about me anymore.” Qiao Wei whimpered, “I have nothing left, I don’t even have enough to pay for next semester’s tuition, and now every day I get laughed at wherever I go in school, and when I got home I get pointed at and scolded by my mom, and my dad became a drunkard who always got mad about having a loser daughter.”

“No one sympathizes with me, they all said I deserved it, that everything is my fault.” Qiao Wei crouched down and cried, sobbing incoherently and brokenly, “And now…you’re teasing me… you bad nerd!”

Ah Xin walked in front of Qiao Wei, crouched down and stared at her, her voice was still cold, no emotions; ”You’re in the top 20 of our grade, fluent in English, can play the piano. You can also dance ballet- on stage you’re the shining Queen, you’re only 16, much better and blessed than many people, why are you crying? Think of the homeless little girl in winter, the little girl who brushes dishes in the restaurant, or the female worker who can’t even read.”

Qiao Wei stopped crying and she froze, looking at Ah Xin. Did this nerd say that she is excellent and blessed?

“If you’re here to question the meaning of your life, why don’t you go back to class to do more exercise books? Classmate Qiao Wei, did you forget there’s a final exam coming up? It’s a terrible thing if your top 20 grade fell, they’ll all laugh at you – because you’re a pitiful student!”

The two words, “pitiful student”, made Qiao Wei’s face turned pale.

“I remember you reported for the ballet program for this New Year’s Eve party, didn’t you practice today? Make a mistake on stage and the whole school will laugh at you.”

Qiao Wei covered her ears and her face turned paler.

Ah Xin took out a tissue and wiped Qiao Wei’s tears, “You’re crying, your face is full of drool and snot, so dirty and ugly.”

Qiao Wei panicked and hurriedly looked for her bag, before remembering that she left it in the classroom and her phone was inside, she grabbed Ah Xin, “Nerd, do you have a mirror?”

“No.” Ah Xin pushed her black-framed glasses, a faint smile on the corner of her mouth.

“Cell phone, do you have cell phone?”

Ah Xin took out her cell phone out of her pocket and handed it to Qiao Wei.

An analog phone![2]

“Nerd, you’re actually still using an analog phone?” She can’t use it as a mirror!

Ah Xin said flatly, “Smartphones affect learning.”

“You’re definitely a nerd.”

Cold wind blew through, freezing Qiao Wei, who shivered, and her mind became much clearer. If Yun Xin didn’t pull her earlier, she might really jump. She was running out of courage to jump again.

“Nerd, why you think I’m good?” Qiao Wei asked sadly, “But everyone hates me, I won’t ever come here if there is someone by my side. I actually didn’t do anything, at most I only intimidated Lin Xiaoai, I haven’t even started doing bad things, yet it was strangled in its cradle.[3] If I really succeed, I wouldn’t be resigned.”

“What makes me more desperate is the fact that my parents think it’s all my fault. I’m their daughter yet they don’t believe me, did the Ji family annexed the Qiao family because of me? It’s all just an excuse, and in the end, I’m their best scapegoat.”

“If you are thinking too much about it, why won’t you do your exercise books, I’ve also brought yours.” Ah Xin took the bag off her back and took out two exercise books.

Qiao Wei: “…….”

Ah Xin handed Qiao Wei an exercise book with her name, before handing her a pen and paper. Ah Xin hold her own exercise book, crouched down in the corner, and began to work on it.

Just by looking at Ah Xin’s serious work mode, it made Qiao Wei felt as if they were in a classroom. Qiao Wei decided to learn from Ah Xin, squatted down next to her and started doing the exercise book.

After doing two questions, she couldn’t help but glance at Ah Xin, who didn’t even use a draft paper, but already wrote the steps to answer the question. No wonder she’s the best of the first years, the speed of doing the arithmetic questions with no draft paper, were unmatched.

By the time Qiao Wei had done five questions, Ah Xin had already turned the page and didn’t stop doing them. Perhaps, being influenced by Ah Xin, she quieted down and devoted herself to answer the questions.

Time passed and the bell rang.

Ah Xin stood up and hold her exercise book; “Let’s go back to classroom, PE[4] class is over.”

“Oh…. “Qiao Wei froze for a moment and looked down to find that she had completed one page of the exercise book, much more efficient than ever, but still not as good as this monster next to her.

Qiao Wei was thinking about going back to the classroom and face all sorts of strange stares by the people she hated, who had made her sad. It made Qiao Wei felt a bit timid and buried her head, not moving.

“Numb legs?”

“No….”

“Are you planning to skip class?”

“No……. ” Qiao Wei didn’t raise her head, she felt a little sour in her heart[5]. Everyone has expected her to become a great Lady, and she never expected that one day she felt like a street rat, afraid of everyone’s eyes.

Hasn’t she always loved the spotlight and liked it when people are looking at her?

“Then get up, what are you doing.” Ah Xin bent down and pulled Qiao Wei up, while saying in a cold voice, “Do you know that I can finish two math questions already, yet you haven’t even finished one. Qiao Wei, you can’t do that, just two questions and you finished it so slowly, four questions will be even slower. How many questions have you even finished today?”

Qiao Wei grabbed the practice book viciously and wanted to say; ‘Could we not mention the exercise book? Didn’t you see I was in a bad mood and almost jumped? Is this nerd sympathetic or not? We’re classmates, and I almost jumped to death, so can’t I be sad for a while?’

Qiao Wei flattened her mouth and let Ah Xin hold her wrist to lead her back to the classroom. Now she had no friends, yet Yun Xin still cared for her, although she was a nerd who only knows to do exercise books, but at least she was a person who doesn’t give her a weird look.

As Ah Xin sat in her chair, Qiao Wei froze for a moment, and that’s when she realized that they were actually deskmates.

Why did she never notice her before?

Finally, she saw what Yun Xin was wearing, it was plain and ordinary. She remembered that Yun Xin had been admitted to this school with excellent grades, just like Lin Xiaoai. However, Lin Xiaoai was no match for Yun Xin, and the top scholarship in the school was won by Yun Xin.

Once upon a time, she had been the daughter of the rich Qiao family, so of course she wouldn’t associate with someone of Yun Xin’s level. Now…. she looked around at her ex-best friend, she sneaked a glance at her, she noticed her gaze, and hurriedly looked away, Qiao Wei’s eyes dimmed.

“Next is a chemistry class, rather than doing nothing, we should review the previous class’s content, this chemistry teacher especially likes to call the students to write equations.”

Ah Xin skillfully helped Qiao Wei to take out her chemistry book, ticked off a few key points, and placed the book in front of Qiao Wei, “Remember this.”

“Ok!”

Qiao Wei suddenly felt that this nerd wasn’t so annoying, she just looked and dressed so old fashionedly, but was actually a nice person. When she was in such a bad shape, this nerd was the only one who helped her.

Qiao Wei looked at the chemistry book and unconsciously smiled. She was carefully remembering the equations and contents given by Ah Xin, ignoring the comments and weird looks given to her.

Ringgggg— The school bell rang.

Qiao Wei was called by the teacher and she couldn’t help but thank Yun Xin in her heart. With her neck held high in confidence, she went up to the podium and wrote a complete formula. As she walked down from the podium, Qiao Wei smiled at Ah Xin who expressionlessly stared at the blackboard.
