Bai Zhi quickly entered the room and closed the door like a bat out of hell. Sure enough, there was no lock on the door. The room was completely empty save for a single twin-sized bed. She bit her lip – she had wanted to move the bed to block the door only to find that the bedframe was firmly welded to the floor.
Suddenly, she lost all strength and slumped onto the small bed sobbing.
Scenes from the day flashed through her brain like a film reel: from the threatening words to the cold gun and handcuffs, to the boorish assault, to the powerful hands holding her down, to the rough fingers forcibly entering her body, to the cold lips sucking on her, to the fenced-off prison…… each scene was outside the purview of her previously naïve self and pushed her towards a bottomless abyss.
She knew that if she could not contact her brother to rescue her as soon as possible, the consequences… is something she absolutely would not be able to live with.
Defiant tears continued to stream down her face, seeping into the white pillow. There was no stopping them. She missed her big brother’s gentle presence and longed for the cozy familiarity of her small studio apartment. She buried her head in the pillow to choke out her sobs. She didn’t dare let the sound of her crying transmit out of the cell.
She didn’t know what kind of world awaited her outside.
Her lower half felt exposed. There were no undergarments for her to wear and the fluids from earlier still clung to the apex of her thighs. The cold, tacky feeling made her very uncomfortable.
She cried for a very long time before falling asleep. When she woke up again, it was already night time. The cold moonlight spilled into her room from the window and the bitter evening air chilled her to the bone.
Perhaps what she should do now is leave her cell, search for a breach in the security and escape.
She mustered up her courage and quietly opened her door. The wooden door creaked. Outside the door lay an open corridor overlooking the recreation field. Darkness prevailed – only a few street lamps dotted small secluded areas. Not a single soul could be seen.
She breathed out a sigh of relief. Maybe the people here don’t move about at night.
Bai Zhi lightly stepped out, passing the two tightly closed doors. Looking through the window, she could not see any light. She wondered whether its occupants were asleep or whether they were out. She prayed for it to be the former.
Turning a corner, she suddenly collided with a firm wall of muscle. Before she could scream, a large hand tightly closed over her nose and mouth. Bai Zhi couldn’t breathe; her face flushed bright red. She lifted her still cuffed hands and tried to pry the hand away with all her might. Finally, she got his hand to shift down slightly – just enough for her to breathe. An intense smell of cigarette smoke invaded her nostrils.
“A female? How did you get in here?” A deep voice came from overhead containing a trace of doubt.
Bai Zhi panted for air and coughed a few times. She looked at her attacker. He was a tall, sturdy man, concealed within the shadows of the stairwell – only his eyes, flashing with suspicion and watchfulness, were faintly discernible. He moved his hand away only to firmly grab ahold of her arm. Nothing but a thin layer of cloth separated her from his rough, heated touch.
For some unknown reason, his presence gave her an inexplicable sense of security.
“I…” she coughed, “…… was suddenly taken by some people…”
“This is a men’s prison, you shouldn’t be in here.”
“I, also, don’t want……” Her eyes reddened.
“Do you know what your end will be if you were seen by someone else?”
Bai Zhi lowered her head. She already experienced it earlier today. In the car, the two men harassed, toyed, and humiliated her regardless of her pleas.
“Are you the new owner of the inside room?” he kept on asking.
Bai Zhi nodded her head
“Don’t go back tonight. Li Xiao claimed that room a long time ago. He stays there every night. You should have them change a room for you next week.”
“Li… Xiao?”
“Yeah, remember that name. Stay away from him. The farther the better. He’s the most dangerous person in the entire prison.”
“I’ll keep that in mind, thank you… your name?”
The man walked out of the shadows. He wore casual clothes and had a cigarette in his mouth. He has a straight nose and rugged features; his expression was somewhat laid-back, but his gaze was extremely sharp, “I am Zhao Zixun.”
“Zhao… Zixun…… My name is Bai Zhi.”
Zhao Zixun nodded his head.
Bai Zhi entered his room and discovered that his room has a lock. It even had many daily necessities, including tables and chairs. It was a far cry from her small, barren room that only had a single, twin bed.
A familiar small room, a soft twin bed, and a weak woman wearing only a thin shift. Zhao Zixun leaned against the door and took a long drag of his cigarette. He took everything in; his eyes roamed over her body freely, but he made no moves. It was impossible to tell what he was thinking.
“I… already slept during the day, you can sleep first…” Bai Zhi said uneasily. “When the sun comes up, I’ll go back by myself.”
“Have you thought about how you’re going to eat in this place? Shower? Use the toilet?” The cigarette dangled between his lips as he watched her helpless expression and her pink parted lips. A thought hit him and he softly said, “Come here.”
TL Woes:
Abort! Abort! Where’s the panic button? Girl, can you be any dumber? You’re literally jumping down a wolf’s throat and expecting him not to eat you.
