Chapter 61

3 min read653 words

The one-week period for a rematch has ended, and I am about to start challenging the dungeon again.

However, before that, I intend to visit a few exploration dungeons.

----------------------------------------

Dungeon Teleportation LV12

Conditions: Can only teleport to dungeons that the user has stepped into before.

----------------------------------------

If I just step into them without clearing them, I won’t need to consider the next span.

There are four E-rank, four D-rank, and three C-rank dungeons within commuting distance from my house.

While E-rank and D-rank dungeons might be a bit underwhelming in terms of level-up efficiency, I’ll go into them just to step inside.

Since adventurers are generally prohibited from using their powers in town, I decided to use public transportation, despite the hassle.

Before entering the dungeons, I used concealment to change my level to an appropriate one for each, which I didn’t forget to do.

As a result, I was able to visit ten dungeons, excluding one C-rank dungeon.

The next day, I arrived at the last one, the Demon Wolf Dungeon.

The recommended level for clearing it is 2000, making it top-tier among C-rank dungeons.

The reason I left it for last is, of course, because there’s a bonus reward for the first challenge, and I want it.

However, there are conditions to clear besides the first challenge, which are a bit troublesome, so I need to muster up some determination.

"First, I should..."

I set my level on the status screen to 2152 and showed it to the dungeon manager.

He was a bit surprised by my high level for my age, but it was still within acceptable limits, so he let me through immediately.

If I had shown my actual level, it might have been more complicated.

"Alright, let’s go."

And with that, I entered the Demon Wolf Dungeon.

About ten minutes later, I encountered a monster.

A large wolf about a meter tall with distinctive red fur—this is a Fire Wolf.

----------------------------------------

【Fire Wolf】

- Recommended Level for Defeat: 1200

- A wolf-type monster covered in red fur with excellent fire resistance. It has agile movements and powerful flames it can release from its mouth.

----------------------------------------

The Fire Wolf has a significant characteristic that sets it apart from the monsters I’ve fought before.

That is—

"Growl!"

"Already!?"

—I dodged the fireball released from the Fire Wolf’s mouth with a light step.

The fireball hit the wall behind me, scorching the spot it struck.

Yes, that characteristic is whether or not it can use magic.

Strictly speaking, it’s a bit different from the magic we use as skills, but the effects are almost the same.

And I have hardly ever fought enemies that use magic.

Being forced into a ranged battle is something I’m not good at.

For example, if the opponent were a human mage, I could rely on speed to close the distance and force a close-range battle, but with monsters, that’s not always possible.

They often have excellent physical abilities in addition to being able to use magic.

But I can’t keep saying I’m bad at it.

As I move up the ranks, I’ll encounter more of these kinds of enemies.

I need to gain as much experience as possible and find my own way to fight.

"——Now!"

Even though I say I’m bad at it, the opponent I’m facing now is only a third of my level.

I was surprised by the initial fire attack, but if I stay calm, it’s no match for me.

I took advantage of the opening created when the Fire Wolf tried to release another flame and approached at high speed.

Then I swung my unnamed sword with all my might.

"!?"

One strike.

With just one hit, the Fire Wolf’s head was severed, and it collapsed on the spot.

"Well, this level is a piece of cake."

After muttering this to myself, I collected the Fire Wolf’s magic stone.
