Chapter 62

I extracted the magic stone from the body of the Fire Wolf. After confirming that the magic stone was transparent, I let out a small sigh.

"Of course, a rare magic stone doesn’t come from the first one..."

From the wolf-type monsters in this dungeon, it’s possible to obtain rare magic stones that are different from the usual ones. For example, from a Fire Wolf, you might get a red magic stone that absorbs fire elemental magic.

If you want the bonus rewards from the Magic Wolf Dungeon,

- Fire Wolf

- Water Wolf

- Wind Wolf

- Earth Wolf

- Light Wolf

- Dark Wolf

- Poison Wolf

- Paralyze Wolf

- Sleep Wolf

You need to obtain a total of nine types of these monsters, commonly known as Magic Wolves.

"The probability of obtaining one is about one in fifty, right? It’s going to be a long road ahead."

While feeling that I would have to defeat nearly 500 wolves in total, I continued to move forward.

"Here we go—100th one!"

With a swish, the unnamed sword decapitated the 100th Magic Wolf. Incidentally, I obtained the red magic stone from a Fire Wolf at the 40th one, and the one I just defeated was an Earth Wolf.

The magic stone I extracted was not transparent but brown.

"Alright, a hit!"

Finally, I got the second one. However, it took me about an hour and a half to get this far. At this rate, it would take more than six hours to collect all nine.

"Well, this is supposed to be a task done by a party, so there’s no time limit or anything. Still, spending a long time in the dungeon isn’t ideal, so I need to hurry."

Until now, I had been defeating monsters as I encountered them, but from here on, fighting Fire Wolves and Earth Wolves would be a waste of time. I needed to be more efficient.

"First, let’s do a wide-area search."

Using a wide-area search, I found that five Water Wolves were gathered two floors below. Fighting five at once would be troublesome, but I couldn’t afford to be picky.

"Teleport within the dungeon."

I teleported to the location in just a few dozen seconds and immediately launched an attack. Taking advantage of their delayed reaction to my sudden appearance, I quickly decapitated two of them.

"Roar!?"

"Growl!"

Finally, the two Water Wolves fired water lasers. But it was too late.

"Too slow!"

Dodging their desperate counterattacks was easy. I approached the two and slashed their bellies and necks with the unnamed sword in my right hand.

"Roar!"

The remaining one approached from my vulnerable left side with its mouth wide open. However—

"Gotcha."

I took out the short dagger from my item box with my left hand and swung it upward. Although its attack power was inferior to the unnamed sword, the stats made up for it. The blade easily severed the Water Wolf’s jaw.

"Ugh!?"

Confused by the sudden damage, the enemy was vulnerable to my follow-up attack with the unnamed sword. That was the finishing blow, and I successfully defeated all five.

After extracting the magic stones from the five, one of them glowed blue.

"Wow, really! Getting one from just five is a big deal."

This should significantly reduce the number I need to defeat. Of course, that might mean more difficult battles elsewhere.

In any case, being able to fight five at once saved a lot of time.

"Using wide-area search and teleportation within the dungeon does consume a fair amount of MP, but the benefits are worth it. I’ll alternate between normal exploration and this method."

With that, I used the wide-area search again.
