Chapter 9

She was the only girl in Ji’s family that was born in her generation. Although both of her parents passed away, the way that her aunts, uncles, and other family members cherished her was well known to the public. Later on, she married Cen Sen right after college graduation and has been living her life carefree.
Everyone envied her easy life; her daily routine was to attend various parties and travel around the world for vacation.
The average person would probably think that she was just a beauty who only knew how to spend money and neglect the fact that she graduated from Savannah College of Arts and Design with a major in interior design.
“I remember you majored in interior design from the Savannah College of Arts and Design. You’re interested in this project?” Cen Sen suddenly asked.
Ji Mingshu lifted up her head and stared at him for a few seconds. She never imagined that her so-called “husband” would remember this about her.
After a while, her thoughts finally recovered. She hid her satisfaction inwardly and started to build up her upcoming pretentious words inside her mind as if she was a princess who lowered herself to provide him with the chance to serve her.
Not waiting until the princess says her precious words, Cen Sen continued himself, “After the hotel is completed, I’ll tell someone to bring you over to have a preliminary visit.”
……?
…?
“A visit?”
” Don’t tell me you’re planning to get involved in the design of the hotel. It’s not something that you can practice on.” Cen Sen said without hesitation.
“I designed the banquet hall from last night.” Ji Mingshu couldn’t hold it back anymore.
Cen Sen paused for a second and then turned back to look at her, “It’s your design. No wonder.”
He said with an understanding tone that hinted at something different.
“What do you mean?”
“That means you really can’t get involved.”
He put on his watch slowly and lowered his eye to signify the end of the conversation.
Ji Mingshu already lacked confidence before his words, and now, she sat straight on the bed with her ears turning red.
“Last night’s banquet couldn’t fully demonstrate my skill!”
With her high-pitched voice, she exemplified what’s called “You can only use a high pitch voice to make yourself more trustworthy when you’ve got no evidence to prove your point.”
Cen Sen looked like he was smiling and not smiling at the same time, then he lifted his eyebrows slightly and was patiently waiting for her explanation.
It was a long story: The original theme of last night’s banquet was “Round Table,” to correspond with <<Ling Du>>’s first publication number from ten years ago.
Just as Ji Mingshu finished the blueprint, the corporate headquarter had a conflict with the sponsor of the event, and the budget suddenly shrank.
The budget amount affects how fashionable the banquet will be, and Ling Du refused to make it a simple one. But the corporate headquarters were also unwilling to provide her with a larger budget, and it took them one week to finally come to a “consensus.” They’ve decided to combine the tenth-anniversary fashion banquet with the charity event that was going to happen next quarter.
Since the anniversary is now going to be combined with a charity event, it would be inappropriate to have a theme for the banquet. That meant all of the previous design ideas had to be abandoned.
Ji Mingshu’s last design was already from 2 years ago, for Chris Chou’s first early Spring Milan show. With her lousy temper and arrogant personality, she hadn’t planned to take on Ling Du’s business in the first place if it hadn’t been Gu Kaiyang. Ji Mingshu hated unplanned incidents. When they told her to push off all her design ideas last minute, she hung up on the Editor’s call without any hesitation.
Ji Mingshu decided to go walk away from this disaster, but her BFF, Gu Kaiyang, persuaded her otherwise, and she started to brainstorm new ideas once again.
Since she had to start over without much time left, her new proposal was lacking compared to her initial effort. The final product was only average; it didn’t appear as low-class, but it also didn’t stand out.
Ji Mingshu was also unsatisfied with last night’s design, and explaining the situation didn’t give her any more credibility. Not knowing what else to say, she opened and closed her mouth several times, kneeling motionlessly.
Cen Sen was already dressed and ready to leave the house. He appeared unsurprised upon hearing her pointless explanation, only looking at her coldly and commented, “Kneeling to me is useless. Maybe you should kneel every three steps and kowtow every nine steps on your way to the Potala Palace; that might move the earth.”
