During dinner, Qin Yi remembered that he hadn't let Liu Qimeng taste the fruit wine he had made, so he poured a small half glass for each of them in a wine glass.
"Uncle Yi, I want to drink the fruit wine too!" Angel had long wanted to try it, but her mother never allowed it. Seeing Qin Yi pouring the wine, she looked at him expectantly.
"Angel..." Before Qin Yi could refuse, Su Sa dispelled her hope, "You're still young. Eat more, and when you grow up, you can drink." Then she got up and squeezed her a half glass of apple juice.
Angel pouted, "Okay, okay, you always say I need to grow up, but how long will it take for me to grow up?"
"After a dozen more birthdays, you can. Now, eat your dinner!"
"Don't treat me like a child," Angel pouted, "Eating more won't make my birthday come any faster!"
Su Sa looked at her helplessly, while Qin Yi laughed, "You still need to eat more. That way, your body will be strong, and when you grow up, you can drink. Otherwise, you'll fall asleep after one sip! Angel, drink your apple juice. The fruit wine is made from apple juice."
Angel nodded, believing Qin Yi, and started eating and drinking her juice in large bites. Qin Yi handed the wine glass over. Su Sa had already tasted it, and although she still enjoyed the delicious flavor, she didn't make a big fuss. However, Liu Qimeng was stunned after her first sip.
Naturally, the delicious fruit wine conquered Liu Qimeng from the first taste. After praising the wine's flavor, she raised the half glass and drank it in two large gulps, which made Qin Yi exclaim, "Xiao Meng, you have a great tolerance for alcohol, you're a real man!"
Liu Qimeng stood up and slapped him across the table, then ran to pour another glass, filling a tall wine glass to the brim. Su Sa found it both amusing and heartwarming, feeling like a family where they could be casual and not worry about being impolite.
After dinner, Su Sa started roasting coffee beans, and the entire house was soon filled with the rich aroma of pure coffee.
"Yi, this coffee smells so good, I've never smelled anything like it. Of course, I rarely buy high-end coffee beans, but this one, just from the aroma, I can tell it's excellent." Su Sa's face was beaming, and for someone who was used to drinking coffee, roasting these premium beans must have been very satisfying.
"So fragrant!" Angel sniffed, trying to catch the scent. She had never drunk coffee before, as her mother didn't allow it. Until now, only fruit juice was her specialty.
"Of course, it's the only one in the world, and only we can drink it!" Qin Yi said proudly, which made Liu Qimeng, who was constantly sniffing, roll her eyes. She really couldn't stand his smugness!
"But we can't drink it today. Let it sit overnight to let the gases escape, and it will taste the best."
As he spoke, Su Sa explained some tips about freshly roasted coffee beans, emphasizing that they should be left out for a day. Some people even let them sit for a week, similar to letting red wine breathe before drinking. Only when the wine is perfectly aerated does it taste the best.
After two weeks, the coffee beans, though still drinkable, lose much of their aroma and are no longer considered top-quality.
Qin Yi and the others nodded, feeling they had learned a lot today!
After finishing the work, the three women went to rest. Qin Yi fed some spiritual spring water to Hei Mi and Xiao Mai, and as he was heading back to the main house, his phone rang. He looked at the caller ID, not recognizing the number, but decided to answer, "Hello, this is Qin Yi!"
"Hello, Yi, it's Jocelyn. Do you remember me?" The voice on the other end was a girl's, filled with deep doubt, as if she didn't expect Qin Yi to remember her at all.
Sure enough, Qin Yi scratched his nose, having no recollection at all!
"Jocelyn? Of course, I remember!" Qin Yi lied, but he couldn't say more and decided to play it by ear.
"Ha!" The other side clearly didn't believe him, but since they had only met once and it had been so long, it was understandable that he didn't remember. Still, it was a bit disappointing for her, a beautiful girl, to be forgotten.
"When we were in Los Angeles, I said I wanted to visit your ranch. Now I finally have some time off. How about it, Yi, can I still come?"
Los Angeles? Visit the ranch?
Qin Yi patted his head, remembering. The last time Ye Fang came over, he had gone to Los Angeles to pick him up and met an American girl on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. She was a beautiful girl, and if she wanted to visit, of course, he would welcome her. "Of course, Jocelyn, you're always welcome!"
"Then I'll come tomorrow morning, is it Augusta? I might bring a few friends, if you don't mind!"
"Sure, do you need me to pick you up?"
"Sure, if you have time!"
"Alright, send me your flight number!"
After hanging up, thinking about the beautiful girl coming tomorrow, Qin Yi felt a bit happy and went to take a shower and sleep.
The next morning, Su Sa made beef noodles for breakfast.
Everyone in the house had gotten used to eating Chinese food, but they couldn't always rely on Qin Yi to cook. Therefore, Su Sa decided to learn how to make a few common Chinese dishes, such as noodles, pancakes, and stir-fries, to take over the cooking.
Today was her first time making Chinese food. Although Qin Yi had given her many tips and she had practiced privately many times, she was still a bit nervous about cooking for everyone. Sitting at the table, she watched as Qin Yi took a sip of the soup and then picked up a few noodles with his chopsticks. Her fists, resting on her lap, clenched tightly, fearing that the beef noodles wouldn't meet Qin Yi's taste.
"Hmm!" Qin Yi nodded, satisfied with the taste, and gave Su Sa a thumbs up, "Authentic Chinese noodle soup, very good, Su Sa, you have a real talent for this!"
Su Sa looked surprised but also worried that Qin Yi was just flattering her, "Really? Yi, don't flatter me. We'll be eating this often, so if there's anything wrong, just tell me, and I'll practice more."
Qin Yi didn't respond, but he ate the noodles in large bites, showing her that he meant what he said.
"Mom's noodles are delicious!" Angel slurped a noodle into her mouth and looked at Su Sa seriously, then turned to Qin Yi, "Uncle Yi's are the best, and Mom's are the second best!"
The little food critic's serious comments made the three adults laugh, but Angel was right. Su Sa was just learning, so it was normal that her cooking wasn't as good as Qin Yi's. Su Sa didn't mind, as long as she knew her Chinese food was really good.
As they were finishing, Qin Yi remembered he hadn't told everyone about Jocelyn's visit, so he mentioned it, "A few friends are coming over this morning. They called yesterday and said they wanted to visit the ranch."
Liu Qimeng perked up, curious and gossipy, "Boys or girls?"
Su Sa had opened her mouth to speak but was preempted by Liu Qimeng, who was eager to hear what Qin Yi would say. Of course, she didn't intend to ask such a gossipy question, even though she was also curious.
"The one who called was a girl. She said she would bring a few friends, but I didn't ask more. It's up to them."
Su Sa hesitated but then spoke gently, "So, Yi, is it appropriate for us to be here? Maybe I should take Angel back to the small farm!"
Angel, who had been quietly drinking her soup, suddenly became anxious when her mother mentioned going home. She didn't want to go back, as there was no good food, no Lai Pi, Mai Ji, Teddy, or the dogs, and no dear Uncle Yi! She looked at her mother, then at Uncle Yi, with a pitiful expression.
"What do you mean, appropriate or not?" Qin Yi was confused by the question and didn't react immediately, "Do you mean they might mind?"
Seeing Su Sa nod hesitantly, Qin Yi found it amusing, "We only met once in Los Angeles, so they're not really friends. They'll be here for a couple of days and then leave. They might even be worried about bothering you!"
Hearing Qin Yi's words, Su Sa felt relieved, as long as she wasn't causing trouble for him.
Angel shook her mother's arm, "Mom, so we don't have to go home, right?"
Su Sa shook her head and smiled, "No, Angel, we don't have to go home."
Hearing this, Angel started cheering, kissed Su Sa, and then ran over to kiss Qin Yi, overjoyed.
Liu Qimeng, seeing that the little girl didn't come to kiss her, decided to tease her, "Why doesn't Angel kiss Auntie Liu? Oh, Auntie Liu is so sad, so sad that she might forget to buy gifts for Angel in the future!"
Angel didn't want to kiss her at first because Auntie Liu always teased her, but hearing about no gifts in the future, she ran over and kissed her hard, making Qin Yi and Su Sa laugh uncontrollably.
