After lunch, Qin Yi took the two little girls to the small lake to catch fish. Susa and Liu Qimeng had nothing to do, so they followed along. The small lake wasn't far, and Angel still hadn't gotten over her fascination with the llamas, so she raised her little hands and said she wanted to ride a llama. Therefore, Angel and Becky rode Meiyangyang and Liyangyang, while Lazyyangyang carried a small folding stool and fishing gear. Qin Yi and the two others drove the "Bus No. 11," leading a group of large and small animals in a grand procession, like a spring outing.
When they arrived at the lake, Angel and Becky rode the llamas around, and Liu Qimeng joined in the fun. Susa chose a spot, sat on the stool, and started fishing, enjoying the afternoon sun. Qin Yi first checked the net he had left in the water, which now contained two large bowls of small fish and shrimp. He transferred them to a bucket, added some bait to the net, and put it back to continue attracting fish and shrimp.
After doing this, Qin Yi found a suitable spot next to Susa, casually threw the fishing line into the water, and leisurely admired the surroundings. There wasn't much to see—fields of grass, poplar or pine trees by the roadside, all the same. But the open terrain, stretching to the horizon, made one feel broad-minded.
The weather in Montana was quite pleasant, with summer temperatures around 20 degrees Celsius. The sun was warm but not scorching, and the occasional breeze was refreshing, making one feel drowsy.
It was a pity about the stool; today they brought a folding stool. If they had brought a recliner, it would have been perfect for a nap after lunch. Enjoying the sunshine and the breeze, not far away, Angel and Becky giggled, and Liu Qimeng occasionally teased the two little girls. The laughter and joy were peaceful, and Qin Yi, looking around, felt a bit listless.
"Got one! Yi, quickly, a fish is on the hook!" Susa suddenly jumped up from the stool, shouting and pointing at Qin Yi's fishing line, reminding him not to let the fish get away.
Sitting on the stool, head down, hands resting on his knees, Qin Yi was about to doze off. Hearing Susa's shout, he snapped to attention and quickly looked at his fishing rod. But there was nothing on the hook; the lake was still calm...
Qin Yi realized Susa was just teasing him!
"Haha, Yi, you were almost asleep! I was really afraid you'd fall into the lake! You don't mind, right?" Susa clasped her hands and looked at him with a smile.
"Of course not!" Qin Yi rubbed his face and stretched. "The sun is really nice. Next time, we should bring a recliner. It's a real loss not to have one today!"
Shaking his head with a smile, Qin Yi didn't mind. He just didn't expect Susa to be so playful, like a young girl.
Of course, Susa was only 27, still young. She had always given the impression of being mature and steady, but he didn't expect her to show this mischievous side.
It might be because of Angel. Running the farm and taking care of Angel, she rarely interacted with others, so over the years, Susa had always been steady and strong, quietly protecting everyone. She had never shown her youthful vitality.
Qin Yi was happy to see this change. Despite having a 4-year-old daughter, she was still young and should live happily and freely, to be true to herself!
Was this the beginning of a change in her attitude towards life?
Qin Yi was looking forward to it!
"Got one, got one! Haha, quickly, this time I'm not teasing you, oh, it looks big!"
While Qin Yi was lost in thought, Susa suddenly shouted again, flustered, almost running over to help him reel in the fish!
Although he had been teased once, her usual steady image was deeply ingrained in his mind, so he immediately looked at his fishing rod.
Sure enough, the spot where the hook was in the lake was creating large ripples, and the fishing rod was being pulled. It seemed to be a big fish.
Qin Yi quickly picked up the fishing rod and started reeling in, moving it back and forth. Susa turned around, grabbed the net from the bucket, and ran over, waiting to help Qin Yi catch the fish.
There weren't many big fish in the small lake, and they had come mainly to catch small fish, using hooks and lines for small fish. So, Qin Yi didn't want to be too aggressive and slowly reeled in the fish.
After about five or six minutes, Susa was on edge, but the fish finally became exhausted and was slowly dragged to the shore. Susa scooped it up with the net and lifted it out.
It was a half-meter-long grass carp, which was rare in the lake, where carp were not very common and the lake was regularly cleaned.
They hadn't planned to catch many fish this time; it was mainly for fun. The two bowls of fish and shrimp in the net were enough for eating, as they weren't the main dish.
But unexpectedly, a big fish had taken the hook.
Susa waved the net in front of Qin Yi, and both of them were beaming.
Susa's shouts had already caught Angel's attention. The little girl, while playing, was still keeping an eye on her mother and Uncle Yi. Seeing her mother holding a big fish, she thought of the delicious fried small fish Uncle Yi made and immediately rode Meiyangyang over.
"Wow, Mom, such a big fish!" The little girl's voice was full of admiration, looking at Susa with a happy face. Then she smacked her lips and looked at Qin Yi, "Uncle Yi, I want to eat fried small fish!"
Qin Yi took the fish from Susa and put it in the bucket, smiling at the approaching Angel and Becky, "Uncle will make it for you tonight. Becky hasn't tried it yet, so she can taste it. If you like it, you can come over often, and Uncle will make delicious food every day!"
Becky nodded happily. She loved the dumplings and spareribs at lunch, and playing with Angel made her very happy. She wished she could stay here and come every day!
Hearing Qin Yi say he would make delicious food every day, Angel couldn't help but drool. She then held Becky's hand and whispered, "Becky, Uncle Yi's food is so delicious! The bone dish at lunch was yummy, right?"
The "bone dish" was spareribs, a unique term Angel used. Fortunately, Becky understood and nodded, her face full of agreement.
Seeing this, Angel was satisfied with Becky's reaction and started counting the delicious dishes Uncle Yi made, "Uncle Yi can make so many things—noodles, pancakes, fried small fish, dumplings, scallion pancakes, and stir-fried dishes! So many, Uncle Yi is the best..."
Angel and Becky rode the llamas, holding hands, and walked away, their voices faintly praising Uncle Yi. Becky, hearing about the delicious dishes she had never heard of, her eyes lit up, and she couldn't help but smack her lips!
Qin Yi looked at Susa and Liu Qimeng, and all three couldn't help but laugh. These two little girls had become big foodies!
Around 4:00 PM, Qin Yi and the group returned home. Angel looked at Susa and Qin Yi expectantly, wanting to eat pudding and ice cream.
Usually, Susa didn't let Angel eat too much ice cream, allowing it only a few times a week. Children should eat less of such things.
Actually, Qin Yi thought that eating one a day was fine, but he didn't want to interfere with Susa's parenting philosophy. However, today, with Becky here and the two little girls having so much fun, they could have one.
Qin Yi had already decided, and Susa didn't object. Liu Qimeng, with permission, took the two happy little girls to the kitchen to make ice cream and pudding. Qin Yi and Susa were left to clean the fish they had caught.
Dinner was quite sumptuous. Qin Yi went to the vegetable garden, cut some scallions for the pancakes, and fried some dough sticks and small fish.
While cooking, the whole living room smelled delicious, making Angel and Becky stand on tiptoe to peek into the pot, sniffing and asking, "Uncle Yi, can we eat yet? Our tummies are so hungry!"
Qin Yi pinched their little cheeks and gave them a scallion pancake that had just come out of the pan, finally calming them down.
During the meal, the fresh scallion pancakes, chewy dough sticks, and crispy fried small fish made everyone's mouths oily. The two little girls, in particular, rubbed their bellies and exclaimed that they were full!
