Chapter 89

6 min read1,555 words

In recent days, Becky has been coming over to play with Angel every day. Every morning, Walker drives Becky over, and after dinner in the evening, he picks up the little girl and takes her back home.

The two little girls have been enjoying themselves, eating delicious food and playing, carefree and extremely happy. The ranch has been filled with laughter because of their play.

Yesterday, Qin Yi went to the livestock market in town with Ryan and Hobbs and bought more than 20 horses. This morning, he went to deliver vegetables and other supplies to Rudy, who tends the sheep, and on the way back, he brought back several dozen sheep, all of which were placed in the small farm.

Now, the small farm has all the cows, sheep, and horses it needs.

With this, the renovation of the small farm for tourism is officially complete, and it is ready for the first batch of tourists to check in and start operations.

After lunch, Susa and the two of them took Angel and Becky to the vegetable garden to play, while Qin Yi led the dogs to find Ryan.

The dogs have been with Qin Yi for a month. Normally, they would still be puppies, but Qin Yi often fed them with spiritual spring water, and most importantly, they stayed in the spiritual spring space for about ten days, where an unknown force accelerated their growth. Now, their physical condition has completely surpassed that of the Queensland Heeler dogs.

Qin Yi knew it was time for them to take on their own responsibilities.

When they arrived at the workers' house, Ryan was busy in his office planning the harvest of the pasture grass. Susie and Rachelle had gone to the vegetable garden after lunch, and Burke, who tends the sheep, was not at home for lunch.

Upon hearing Qin Yi's purpose, Ryan quickly made the arrangements.

This time, Qin Yi brought 7 dogs. Ryan arranged for Burke to start taking over part of the sheep herding work from tomorrow, and the Queensland Heeler dogs that would be replaced would be taken to the small farm by Hobbs to be responsible for the daily security of the small farm and to protect the tourists when they go into the mountains.

Qin Yi bought a total of 11 dogs. Black Rice and Wheat were left to guard the main house, 7 were for herding, and the remaining 2 were planned to guard the chicken coop once it was built, to prevent the chicks and ducklings from becoming snacks for eagles and foxes.

After making these arrangements, Ryan invited Qin Yi to his office for a cup of coffee.

Qin Yi waved his hand, intending to leave. He had nothing to do in the afternoon and wanted to go back to build the chicken coop, as it wasn't good to keep the chickens and ducks in the small pine forest.

It seemed like he was really busy, but in fact, except for the initial period when he took over the ranch, he basically had nothing to do. The ranch had Ryan, the small farm had Hobbs, the tourism planning had Liu Qimeng, and the finances were handled by Susa. Even cooking was taken over by Susa. His days were filled with eating and playing, living a carefree and leisurely life.

However, if you really think about it, although Qin Yi seemed relaxed, he was involved in everything. In general, he wasn't just passing the days.

Improving the pasture grass, planning the farm's renovation, coordinating various interpersonal relationships at the small farm, buying cows and horses—everything required his involvement.

However, these were all trivial matters that didn't require much mental effort. They were a good way to balance his leisurely life, allowing him to enjoy his leisure while also managing his business. He felt very fulfilled and satisfied.

"Another day, Ryan. I want to go back and build a chicken coop."

Qin Yi said this and was about to leave.

"Chicken coop?" Ryan remembered the half-grown chickens and ducks in the small forest next to the main house and knew that a chicken coop was indeed needed. "Then I'll lend a hand, and I'll call Hobbs. There are no tourists at the small farm right now, so we can't let him sit around doing nothing!"

Qin Yi laughed heartily. Ryan made it sound like Hobbs did nothing but eat. If he heard this, the two old friends would definitely argue again.

"Alright, I have no experience, so it's best if you help."

Ryan went back to the house and called Hobbs, explaining the situation, and Hobbs readily agreed.

Qin Yi and Ryan returned to the main house, selected some wood, and loaded it onto the pickup truck, heading to the small lake where they often caught small fish.

Upon arriving, the two of them walked around the lake to find a suitable spot.

"Yi, let's build it here." Ryan chose a higher ground that wouldn't be flooded during rain.

Qin Yi came over to look and thought it was a good spot. After observing the surroundings and comparing it, he agreed that this was the best place.

"Here is good. Let's face the chicken coop south so that the sun can shine inside. This way, the coop will stay dry, which is good for the health of the chickens and ducks."

"That's right." Ryan nodded, went back to the car to get the tools, and started drawing the plans.

Qin Yi squatted down to watch, feeling quite impressed. Ryan was so professional, calculating the length, width, and thickness of the wood needed, and even marking where holes and slots were needed!

Qin Yi felt ashamed. When he built a rabbit hutch, he struggled so much. If he had to build a chicken coop by himself, even if he put in a lot of effort, it would definitely be rough and ugly!

Recognizing his shortcomings, Qin Yi squatted next to Ryan and learned seriously. If he had children in the future, he wouldn't want to be embarrassed by not knowing how to build a swing or a treehouse!

Seeing that Qin Yi was genuinely interested in learning, Ryan didn't mind teaching him. He was currently designing the roof of the chicken coop, so he explained the thickness of the roof boards, the average annual rainfall, the slope of the roof, the speed of the rainwater flow, and other factors to design the most suitable roof, aiming to use the least resources to create the most practical roof.

Qin Yi listened with a sweat on his forehead. If you didn't know, you might think they were building a skyscraper!

Is it really necessary to consider so much just to build a chicken coop for the chicks and ducklings?

Qin Yi shook his head. It seemed this was a cultural difference!

Fortunately, Hobbs arrived at this moment, and Qin Yi took the opportunity to greet him and escape from Ryan's technical jargon.

"Hey, Hobbs, I didn't expect building a chicken coop to have so many steps! I have no experience, so you'll have to teach me a few things!"

Qin Yi stood up and greeted Hobbs. He wasn't flattering Hobbs; these old cowboys were skilled in finance, carpentry, veterinary medicine, mechanics, agriculture, sales, and procurement. He still had a long way to go!

Hobbs, hearing Qin Yi's words, stroked his beard and laughed heartily, looking quite pleased with himself. He then patted his chest, taking on the task with a confident air.

"Ah, Yi, you'll see my skills, which are much better than this guy Ryan's!"

Ryan glanced at Hobbs, continuing his work, "I'm not like someone who just talks and doesn't act!"

"Hey, buddy, I'll show you what real carpentry skills are!" Hobbs, not to be outdone, took a few steps forward and joined the chicken coop construction project!

Qin Yi shook his head and didn't bother with the two old guys. They were good friends, but they always bickered when they met. He had gotten used to it over time.

Looking behind Hobbs, he saw Angel and Becky had also come along, with Susa holding two children's fishing rods behind them.

Angel and Becky, hearing that Uncle Yi was building a house for the chicks, were very curious and followed along. Susa was afraid the two girls would disturb Qin Yi's work, so she came along to keep them entertained.

Today, Angel and Becky were both wearing the same little cowgirl outfits, looking cute and spirited!

They held small horse whips in their hands, riding a small spotted cow, their long boots swinging as they walked and sang, their little faces rosy and truly adorable, making everyone love them and the flowers bloom!

Even Ryan and Hobbs, who were about to show off their carpentry skills, stopped and smiled at the two little girls, thinking how wonderful it would be to have such cute granddaughters!

"Uncle Yi, Becky and I are here!"

Angel waved her little hand and smiled at Qin Yi.

The two little girls, with their pigtails bouncing with the steps of the spotted cow, added even more cuteness to their already adorable appearance, almost to the point of bursting.
