Chapter 4

The kitchen door was already completely blocked by the bodies of the zombies, making it impossible to pass through. Tang Tian had no choice but to climb out the window again. However, the window, having been battered by over a dozen zombies, was now in shambles.

Shards of glass were scattered everywhere, and the window was covered with black liquid and bits of flesh. Tang Tian guessed that these were remnants left by the zombies.

When he reached the hall, it was eerily quiet since all the zombies had been lured away and eliminated by Tang Tian. The scene was chaotic, looking as if it had been ransacked by bandits.

Tang Tian spent over an hour carefully checking the entire third floor, but found no living people. He did encounter a couple of stray zombies in the other two kitchens, which he and the Phantom Assassin easily dispatched, turning them into experience points for leveling up. Unfortunately, these zombies dropped nothing.

After packing everything from the two kitchens into his storage ring, the contents of the ring increased several times over.

After confirming that there were no more zombies on the third floor, Tang Tian went to the window to observe the entire campus.

When he saw the situation outside, he was completely stunned.

He saw thousands of people running around aimlessly on the campus, pursued by a large crowd of zombies, numbering at least ten thousand. Many people fell to the ground and were torn apart by the pursuing zombies, eventually becoming part of the zombie horde.

Cries, shouts, and screams echoed throughout the campus, creating a scene reminiscent of the end of the world.

This was just the scene outside the buildings. Inside the teaching buildings, the situation was even worse. Countless students screamed as they rushed out of their classrooms, only to find the corridors outside filled with zombies.

To escape, both students and teachers, regardless of which floor they were on, jumped down without a second thought. Many of them either fell to their deaths or were caught by the zombies below, ending up torn to pieces...

Such gruesome scenes were almost everywhere on the campus...

This was just the behavior of the students and teachers who were terrified. A few were fighting back, usually in groups of three to five. Some wielded wooden sticks like Tang Tian, while others used chairs and benches to fight the zombies. However, facing such a large number of zombies, their lives were constantly in danger of being killed.

Seeing this, Tang Tian trembled with fear. If he were to fall into the zombie horde... he didn't even dare to imagine the outcome.

At the same time, he secretly thanked his luck for staying in the cafeteria, which had the fewest people during class time. Otherwise, he might have been in the same situation as those people, either struggling bitterly or already part of the zombie horde...

"The end of the world, this is the end of the world..." Tang Tian muttered, looking at the devastated campus.

"Help! Someone, save me..."

At that moment, Tang Tian faintly heard a cry for help. The voice didn't come from the campus but from within the cafeteria building!

"It's on the second floor!" Tang Tian quickly determined the source of the voice and immediately ran towards the stairs leading to the second floor. However, he stopped at the stairs.

"Should I save them or not? I don't know how many zombies are downstairs. This is very dangerous, but if I don't save them, should I just watch them be killed by the zombies? But if I close my eyes... Hmm..." Tang Tian was caught in a dilemma.

"Still, I should try to save them. From the outside situation, it's clear that I can't leave anytime soon. Should I just stay here alone? If I save them, at least I'll have someone to talk to,"

Determined, Tang Tian quietly made his way to the second floor.

When he reached the second-floor stairs, he cautiously looked around and was startled by the scene. At least a hundred zombies were wandering in the second-floor hall, most of them dressed as students, with a few chefs and cleaners.

"You people, why are you in the cafeteria during class time? This is just causing trouble for me," Tang Tian muttered to himself.

The first and second floors of the cafeteria at Tianshui University were the most crowded, and the area was at least twice as large as the third floor. Students, being lazy, usually only went to the third floor when there were no seats available on the first and second floors.

Since it was class time, the third floor was almost empty, so Tang Tian only encountered a dozen or so zombies. However, the second floor was different. With class time approaching and plenty of empty seats, many students chose to eat on the first and second floors. Therefore, when the apocalypse came, the number of zombies here was particularly high.

"Help! Someone, save us..."

While observing the second floor, the cry for help came again from somewhere on the second floor. This time, Tang Tian heard it clearly and immediately pinpointed the source to a private room on the second floor.

The door was surrounded by zombies, and the cries for help were coming from inside. Upon listening carefully, Tang Tian also heard faint sobs from other private rooms, but they were not as loud as the one in the room where the cries were coming from.

"Isn't this just asking for death? Afraid the zombies don't know you're in there?" Tang Tian felt a strong disdain for the person who was shouting.

"What should I do with so many zombies?" Tang Tian thought.

He wasn't afraid of one or two zombies, especially with the Phantom Assassin, which could easily dispatch them for experience points. However, with over a hundred zombies in the second-floor hall, if they all attacked at once, Tang Tian and the Phantom Assassin would be torn to pieces in seconds.

With no other choice, Tang Tian retreated to the third floor and sat on a chair, trying to come up with a plan. After carefully considering his situation, he realized that he was only 20 experience points away from leveling up, thanks to the two zombies he had killed on the third floor.

His eyes lit up. Why not use the same strategy as before? This way, he could eliminate the zombies downstairs, save people, and gain experience points, achieving two goals at once.

With that in mind, Tang Tian immediately moved chairs from the third floor to block the stairs, leaving only a narrow passage for one person to pass through. To ensure the passage wouldn't be overwhelmed by the zombies, he used dozens of tables to block the stairs.

After securing one end, Tang Tian moved dozens of tables to completely seal off the other end of the stairs to prevent the zombies from cutting off his escape route. However, he left a small opening that he could use to escape by lifting two tables if the other end was breached.

It took Tang Tian about an hour to complete this task, and even with his improved constitution from leveling up, he was exhausted like a dead dog, finally sitting on a chair to catch his breath.

However, he was quite satisfied with his work.

After resting, Tang Tian had a sudden idea and stored a dozen tables in his storage ring. If he couldn't hold off the zombies, he could use them as a barrier.
