Chapter 8 – I Have A Favor To Ask Of You

Estelle glanced up at Phil. Just in time, her eyes met the man who was looking at her. He smiled playfully at her with friendly black eyes. Estelle’s face turned red and lowered her head. There was nothing to ask him, so she quickly pulled out what she had in mind.

“Come to think of it, what brought you to the capital?”

Ah, right. He’s here for work. However, the man who was quietly looking at Estelle gave an answer she did not expect.

“I’m getting married soon. I’m here to buy a ring for my wife.”

Why? She felt like she was hit on the head by something.

She didn’t feel so good about the wedding until just now, but after hearing that, she felt like she was hit by cold water. Estelle became confused. Why was she so sad when, a man who she barely knew a single name of, brought up the topic of marriage?

But it was not a situation to be filled with guilt for what she asked. Because Phil was waiting right in front of Estelle for her response. What’s the answer you usually give back when you say you’re getting married? Most likely it’s a celebration or a blessing.

As Estelle recalled these words of blessing in her head, the next moment, she realized that what she had thought for a moment when she supposed that he was doing a trick on her was completely wrong. Because if this man had feelings for her, he wouldn’t have said he was getting married soon.

“Oh, I see…”

Estelle was embarrassed because of that. To the point where she forget to say a word of blessing. When he saw Estelle answering in a strangely weak state, the man showed his teeth and laughed. At that moment, his face caught Estelle’s eye. Rough hair created by the wind and sunlight, thick eyebrows and dark eyes underneath, and tanned skin to look good on him.

If the word “romantic” becomes a person, would it be a face like this?

Estelle, who looked at a young man who seemed to be the ideal man of her dream, shook off her thoughts. It was to push away the strangely noisy mind cleanly. She spoke deliberately, consciously, forcefully.

“Actually, I’m preparing to get married, too.”

“I see.”

Phil closed his mouth for a moment and puffed his cheeks slightly. He seemed to hold back his laughter. Why are you laughing? Was there something funny? While Estelle tilted her head, the man asked again.

“Then, wasn’t I really rude to you before your marriage?”

“You did nothing.”

Estelle laughed out loud at the words. What a misunderstanding this man has. At that moment, Phil’s black eyes shook a little. It was not visible to Estelle, who was trying to shake off her regret. She shrugged off her compliments.

“Whoever married Phil must be very lucky to do so.”

“Thank you for saying that. But it’s probably not that case.”

The man immediately denied Estelle’s words. Estelle opened her eyes wide. The man shrugged his shoulders.

“I haven’t even sent a proper gift yet because it’s a rushed marriage. Besides, I don’t think she’s interested in me, but I deserve it. The wedding is just around the corner, and I haven’t even decided on a ring yet.”

Estelle immediately understood what the man was saying. Apparently, this was also a marriage decided by his family.

I don’t know who that lady is but she will probably be happy with you…

“You haven’t even picked one yet?”

“Shamefully so. Oh, if you know a good place, can you recommend it?”

“Of course I do.”

She answered Phil’s words straight away and pointed to the street where she had come from.

“Would you like to come with me, if you don’t mind?”

***

She supposed that the man, who seemed like a semi-noble, would not be able to buy extremely expensive jewels.

But jewels were a little different. The place where Estelle took the man was a jeweler that her family had invested in. Just one block across from the dressing room where she was at.

She took the rare handsome arm and entered the jeweler alone. Even though the only thing she could hold at her fingertips was the hem of the man’s robe, her heart trembled for some reason.

When the servant entered and informed people of her visit, the jeweler rushed out.

“Oh, dear, is your lady here?”

Hush. Estelle put her finger near her mouth. She meant not to say her name. The jeweler looked at the man in bewilderment. Estelle shrugged.

“You’re a benefactor. I’m going to give one to my fiancé, so please show me some jewels.”

Benefactor. The jeweler tilted his head, but said yes. After all, nobles are bound to make all sorts of mysterious requests.

Still, Estelle was a pretty good customer in this jewelry store. This is because she is the daughter of an investor, but rather than being arrogant, she always bought jewelry at her own price. In addition, he recently bought a lot of jewelry to prepare for her wedding.

Soon there were quite a few jewels in front of the man. The man stared awkwardly at the jewels and asked the jeweler.
