"Someone. Someone. There really is someone."
The red mutant parrot inexplicably became excited, flapping its wings and flying into the room, its cunning eyes darting between the two girls, one big and one small.
"The big one and the small one are just right. The young girl is best steamed, tender and delicious, a mouthful of flavor. The child is best fried, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, crunchy and satisfying!"
The red mutant parrot's words instantly changed Annie's expression. Although she was Australian, Chinese had been a required subject for many people over the past thirty years due to China's rising power.
"Great King, it's time to see my skills." The red mutant parrot cackled.
Li Mu didn't speak, his eyes tinged with a hint of red, slowly approaching, his fierce fangs almost touching Annie's delicate skin.
"Beige doesn't suit you. Your skin is darker, so black would be better. And as the noble of trench coats, Burberry shouldn't be worn so simply..."
Annie didn't know why she was saying these things as she faced death. Perhaps as the store manager of this Burberry boutique, even in her last moments, she couldn't help but fall back on her professional habits.
Perhaps Annie also had a small hope that this zombie, dressed in a trench coat and so different from others, might understand her words and let her live.
Li Mu slowly raised his head. He didn't understand Annie's words, but the fact that she spoke Chinese made him feel a sense of familiarity, even though the blue veins under her pale skin were filled with the blood he craved.
The more he craved it, the more he restrained himself, strangely but stubbornly.
Seeing Li Mu's chilling fangs slowly move away from her, Annie dared not stop talking, continuously explaining her understanding of Burberry and giving Li Mu suggestions, becoming increasingly calm, even taking a moment to recall Li Mu's earlier scent, which, unlike other zombies, didn't have an unbearable stench but rather a faint, dangerous scent of violets.
The ability to stop bullets, wearing a trench coat, accompanied by a strange, talking red bird, and even having a different scent from other zombies, made Annie increasingly feel that this zombie was different, perhaps giving her a chance to survive.
"This woman talks so much."
The red mutant parrot's eyes were somewhat dazed, watching Annie who hadn't stopped talking for a moment. "Great King, just eat her. I hate those who talk more than me."
Li Mu's grayish-white eyes gradually became calm as Annie continued to speak. He suddenly reached out, tearing off his beige trench coat and casually tossing it aside, stepping out and spreading his arms, waiting quietly.
Annie was startled by Li Mu's sudden action, instinctively hugging her younger sister, her words momentarily pausing.
The red mutant parrot clumsily climbed out of the trench coat, seeing Li Mu standing calmly in the hall with his arms spread, its eyes darting to Annie. "Woman, you're lucky. Great King wants you to serve him, undress quickly."
Annie's body trembled, disbelieving, looking at the red mutant parrot and then at Li Mu, who was standing in the hall, naked, with his arms spread. She gritted her teeth, trembling fingers reaching for her buttons.
If this could save her life and her sister's life, what did it matter? In this apocalypse, what was there left to lose?
The red mutant parrot's eyes lit up, humming an off-key song, "Take off your top, take it off, take it off! Take off your pants, take it off, take it off... Fool, get lost!"
A roar, and Charlie, who had risen with blood-red eyes, lunged at Annie. No matter how beautiful the flesh, to him, it was only food.
Bang!
Black spines on Li Mu's back suddenly pierced through the air, sending Charlie flying. Li Mu turned, a hint of impatience in his eyes, looking at the red mutant parrot.
The red mutant parrot gave Charlie a sympathetic glance, shivering in empathy. Seeing Li Mu's gaze, it quickly said, "Great King, I understand. I'm persuading this woman to be obedient."
"Stupid woman, who told you to undress! You have no sense, Great King wants you to change clothes, hurry up, or he'll eat you!"
The red mutant parrot glanced at Annie's chest with a hint of regret, wiped its mouth, and changed its attitude faster than turning a page.
Annie, however, was too preoccupied with shock and joy, quickly picking up her sister and walking out of the room, carefully avoiding the red mutant parrot and Charlie. Compared to the zombie and the bird, Li Mu, who looked the most terrifying, made her feel more at ease.
"These, these, and these. A shirt would be best, I'll find it for you right away."
Annie was very professional. As the store manager of this Burberry boutique, she had dressed countless customers. Even though Li Mu was a different species from her usual customers, she tried to calm herself and treat him like a regular customer.
Only by doing so could she ignore Li Mu's sharp bone knives, sharp spines, and powerful body, making herself less nervous and not lose this last chance to survive.
Annie was so focused on her task, trying not to think about her terrifying situation, that she forgot about her sister. When she carefully selected clothes for Li Mu and turned around, she screamed, "No!"
Charlie, who had been sent flying by Li Mu, had somehow crawled back, his fierce claws almost touching the little girl's face.
"Ah!"
The four- or five-year-old girl was immediately terrified by the terrifying Charlie and burst into tears. Li Mu, expressionless, his black spines behind him, moved like lightning, stopping just before Charlie's forehead.
Charlie seemed startled by the girl's cries or perhaps sensed the killing intent in Li Mu's black spines, freezing and slowly retreating, staring blankly at the girl. After a moment, he suddenly grabbed his tongue and made a terrifying face.
The little girl cried even harder, Charlie's blank eyes flickering, suddenly doing a backflip, crawling like a snake on the ground, as if these actions were instinctive, etched in his bones from long ago.
Li Mu's black spines slowly retracted, his eyes flashing with a hint of light, then returning to calm. Annie quickly picked up the little girl, still shaken.
When the little girl was taken by Annie, Charlie froze again, continuously snarling at Annie, his blood-red eyes flashing with a bloodlust, ready to pounce, but was immediately sent flying by Li Mu's black spines.
"Stupid..."
The red mutant parrot mocked, but quickly covered its mouth, unable to escape the same fate as Charlie, being sent flying by Li Mu's black spines.
Seeing this, the little girl giggled. Li Mu's grayish-white eyes remained calm, slowly spreading his arms. Annie calmed her fear, slowly standing up to select appropriate clothing for Li Mu.
Half an hour later, Li Mu was completely transformed, wearing a black shirt, black trench coat, and black pants, making his already strong body look even more heroic.
When Annie tied the last black striped tie for Li Mu, if one didn't look at his face, one might think a model was preparing to endorse Burberry.
"Right, and this."
Annie's hands trembled, trying not to look at Li Mu's fierce fangs, carefully putting on a pair of sunglasses for him.
"Great King, you look so cool!"
The red mutant parrot, having regained its energy, circled around Li Mu, its eyes gradually shining. "Woman, I want it too. I want to look as cool as Great King. Hurry up, or I'll eat you."
Annie was immediately at a loss. She was an expert at dressing people, but dressing a bird, Great King, was beyond her capabilities.
When Li Mu finally walked out of the Burberry boutique, he had completely changed. Charlie, still unchanged, now had a mask on his mouth, his blood-red eyes occasionally looking at the little girl, sometimes blank, sometimes mad.
The red mutant parrot, now standing proudly on Li Mu's shoulder, wearing a red puppy sweater and the same sunglasses as Li Mu, was missing only a cigar in its mouth.
"Woman, you did well. I'm very satisfied, and Great King is very satisfied. That stupid zombie, forget it. So, let me eat you happily!"
Bang!
The red mutant parrot was sent flying again.
