The Luckiest Man Alive
Sihwang has been feeling very sensitive the past few days.
“Sir, I only need five minutes!”
A middle-aged lady holding a video player had been following Sihwang for a while. She was the kind of person who was able to spot innocent people who would stop what they are doing and listen to her. And of course, Sihwang was today’s victim.
“What?”
Sihwang asked back, extremely startled that a stranger was talking to him.
“Oh, I just need a few minutes…. just to talk….”
Sihwang’s overreaction somewhat overwhelmed the lady. She has never met this kind of person, throughout her years of experience in propagating her religion.
“I have nothing to talk with you, ma’am!”
Sihwang spat out coldly, as he hasted his steps. He looked back for a second, and startled again, he began to ran.
“What did I just witness…?”
The flabbergasted lady just stared blankly.
As soon has Sihwang reached home, he headed straight to the bathroom, soaking his face. For a man who takes a shower once in two or three days, this was pretty unusual for him.
“It’s there! It’s still there!”
Sihwang looked behind once again and made a face as if he was going to pass out.
Behind Sihwang was a faint, cloud-like door, labeled [ Congratulations, Sihwang nim. ].
“Wha, what? What is this? Why won’t this disappear?”
The unidentified door had been following Sihwang for a couple of days, and never left him ever since. Running away was useless. Even swinging a hammer to break it was impossible because the hammer would go through the door as if the door was a ghost. But what was creepy was when Sihwang reached his hand to the door, he could feel the wooden texture of a solid door.
At first, he considered opening the door, but after many hesitations, he made a conclusion that it would be safe to not open the door.
The biggest reason was the vast congrats print on the door; it looked like those lame scam advertisements. If he were to open the door, something might escape from the door like Pandora’s Box, or worse, he would be sucked in.
“Damn it!”
Sihwang had nothing much to say at this point.
Despite all this chaos, Siwhang turned on the PC to browse the Internet. Well, the door wasn’t doing anything terrible to Sihwang till now, and as time passed, he started to get used to it.
After laughing at a few memes on the Internet, Sihwang would frown again. The door behind him was bothering him and would question himself why he would have to deal with this.
To tell the truth, Sihwang has never dated a girl and was a virgin who had never had an opportunity to fulfill his ambition. Also, he was an unskilled below-average student attending a university in the countryside. There was nothing in particular that he was proud that he could brag about to his relatives.
Realizing this, Sihwang’s parents seemed to be concerned about their son, but Sihwang didn’t seem to care.
“I’m going to bed.”
The ghostlike door was bothering him so much, he was already tired of looking at his PC before midnight.
This was very unusual. Passing 3 AM in the morning was typical, and at times Sihwang will spend time awake till 5 AM, even if he had classes at 9 AM. Not that he is productive, time flew quickly when he just browses the Internet and play a couple of video games.
As Sihwang lies down, the door shift away, so it was easy for him to reach.
That creeped him out so much, Sihwang shut his eyes tight and flipped his body to the opposite side. His back was getting wet with cold sweat, and weird thoughts kept creeping on his head.
Having a strong faith in science, he had never believed in ghosts. But after this, he might have been thinking wrong all along. With these thoughts, it took him a long time to fall asleep.
Clueless of what time it is, Sihwang opened his eyes in the middle of the night. The tension from last night made him want to pee so bad.
Only half-conscious, he headed to the bathroom. Everywhere was dark, and his half-open eye made it almost impossible to identify any objects.
Even in the dark, something didn’t feel right. Sihwang snapped into consciousness.
“Hm, what…?!”
This was not the narrow hallway to the bathroom. Swaying both arms in all directions, there was no wall, or object within the radius. It seemed way more spacious than it is supposed to be, but because of the pitch darkness, nothing was identifiable.
Sihwang started to sweat madly.
He reached behind, trying to grab the door where he stepped out of, but nothing touched his had.
Sihwang started to shiver in fear. His heart beat rapidly. This was no joke. He was never more terrified than this his whole life.
Chaos, confusion, horror. All kinds of vocabulary that represented his fear was applied to Sihwang’s expression. His had shaken madly, and his voice cracked up.
“P, Please help. Somebody…. anybody….”
Not knowing what to do, he started yelling. The timid man who couldn’t say a few words in public realized that in an urgent situation like this, being shy was definitely out of the question.
“Congratulations!”
Suddenly, the placed lightened up, and a blond, about-ten-year-old kid appeared in front of Sihwang. It wasn’t like walked all the way here, he kind of, just seemed.
“W, What?!”
“Sihwang nim, you have been inherited the legacy of Kezron the Golden Dragon! You are the lucky winner amongst trillions, no, gazillions of people!”
“Whaaat?”
With his jaw dropped, Sihwang could not understand a single word the kid was saying.
“Gosh, you are driving me nuts. So what I mean is, you have been selected by Kezron, and have become one of the wealthiest men in the universe.”
“Kezron’s legacy?”
“That is correct.”
Even though Sihwang answered back, he still could not understand a single word the boy was saying.
Looking around, it seemed like Sihwang was inside a massive castle. What looked like a ballroom, the floor was covered in a carpet of soft animal fur, and the staircase that led to the second floor had a banner printed [ Congratulations, Sihwang nim ] hung up on multiple parts of the castle. On the wall, there were murals and numerous statues of a golden dragon, which Sihwang assumed it was this Kezron guy.
“What kind of place is this….”
“Just follow me, I will explain everything on the way.”
The blond kid grabbed Sihwang’s hand and took him to the lobby. But this lobby itself was significant as a whole mansion. In the center, there were antique chairs and a table.
“T, That’s…!”
