Chapter 10 – Forest’s Problem….Koa’s Incident

I can still remember how I played on the snow mountain these last few days.

We went out to play day after day and enjoyed it to the fullest.

Looking at the forest….I think I had enough fun. I have to look at the problem in front of us.

The problem now is that, no matter when or where I look at the forest, I feel a deep sense of anxiety coming over me.

It no longer swallows me like it used to though.

I don’t think this is a problem that can be left unattended.

I have to figure out something as soon as possible….looking at the vast forest, I escaped reality a little.

Looking at the forest….looking at this transformed forest, I don’t think my memories of it will be any useful.

I didn’t expect the caves to increase or disappear….

However, looking away from it will not solve anything.

So, I should do something.

Is there a thing that gives me that sense of anxiety?

….or is there more than one thing?

It would have been easier if I could see the whole forest, scrape it, and examine it…..

In order to not miss the problem, I decided to look around the forest in a clockwise direction from home.

This is a lot of work but I feel that it’s necessary.

Perhaps you can call it my “intuition”.

When I decided to investigate the forest to the earnest, I naturally thought that I can’t afford to cut corners.

It was a little strange but I don’t feel uncomfortable when my mind is being influenced by something or am I convincing myself that I don’t?

I think my intuition is getting better and better since I came to this world.

Whenever I try to do something, I find that I naturally choose things that will lead to good results.

This time, I decided to trust myself because I think it’s applicable to what’s happening.

When I left my house, I found Koa waiting for me.

Was she going to escort me this time?

Something’s different.

Chai, who’s standing next to her, is also puzzled.

When I looked Koa closely, I noticed that she’s shaking her head incessantly.

I’m not sure what’s going on here.

It looks like she’s trying to….shake something off…?

Koa looks at me and snarls but immediately after that, she starts shaking her head again.

I was surprised. She has never snarled at me since our first encounter.

I gave out a long exhale to calm myself down.

My companions started to gather seeing the strange situation.

Yes, there’s a possibility that my companions are experiencing the same thing.

I have to protect my companions!

Koa’s growl grows louder.

….honestly speaking, I’m scared.

Calm down!

Ehto, when I was experiencing the same, my thoughts were being induced by something which fueled my anxiety.

Koa looked at me and growled.

Was she being induced to attack me?

How can I prevent this…. mind inducing magic?

Should I just strengthen the barrier?

There, Koa snarls and approaches me. Chai steps between me and Koa threatening her.

At the same time, Boss-san put several layers of string on Koa so that she couldn’t move.

Koa’s unable to move but she’s shaking her head around a lot.

I took a deep breath and started imagining.

I can’t tell if the problem this time is a curse or not….damn it!

Don’t be impatient!

The curse is a black shadow.

This time, let’s imagine it as a white light.

It enters the body….no, something more….like water seeping into soil.

Yeah, I imagine it as something that seeps into the body and starts trying to control it without sound or being noticed.

The way to prevent this is to use a….magic membrane….that has no holes or gaps.

However, I’ve been checking the forest for the source of what’s inducing me and couldn’t find or even feel anything.

If it is cleverly hidden, there might be a problem if I use the return to caster magic.

Koa’s growl turns into a voice of pain. It seems like Boss-san’s web is digging through her body as she was rampaging.

I’ll do it!

I’m going to make sure that my imagination is solid and all my companions will be covered by it.

「Barrier!」

Koa’s pained voice resonates.

A mysterious colored light surrounded Koa, Boss-san, and me.

Our bodies were somewhat filled with warm light and the light was absorbed.

I was a little surprised because I didn’t expect it to disappear into my body.

I wondered if I had succeeded and when I turned my gaze to Koa, she had a very surprised expression.

When I met her gaze, she looked apologetic.

It looks like she has come to her senses which is good.

However, was Koa’s mind taken over because she investigated the forest?

If that’s the case, we might need to do something about it.

If a large number of monsters in the forest were induced….
