And as Allen’s words left his mouth, the girl’s expression became interesting. Her mouth gaped open in an “o” shape before her brows furrowed in anger and her lips turned into a smirk. She shrugged, “My mother was correct, all men are egoistic animals that are best at discriminating against women.”

Allen shrugged, he didn’t explain that he wasn’t egoistic, and that he just didn’t want to deal with this girl’s arrogance.

“Hey, just because your score is higher than mine doesn’t mean you’re stronger than me. Why don’t we fight instead?” The girl crossed her arms and raised her head at Allen, resembling a proud peacock.

“I refuse.”

The girl gritted her teeth, “No again? You sissy!”

“There’s plenty of chances to fight in the Death Ring. It’s neither the time or place now, no?” After enjoying agitating the girl again, Allen smiled slightly and turned to leave.

The girl stomped her feet in anger as another girl whispered in her ear, “Sister Lucy, it’s okay if it’s impossible. It’s not like he’s the only choice here, look, they all want to be your underlings.”

And the girl was right, the children who had stared at Allen with animosity earlier all tried to rush forwards in hopes for the girl’s attention. The blond girl snorted, “Emily, I don’t need useless people. Also, the word “impossible” doesn’t exist in this lady’s dictionary. I’ll definitely get that stupid kid called Allen!”

“Sister Lucy, I think he’s your age.”

“Don’t be noisy, what kind of boss is younger than their underlings? If I say he’s a kid, he’s a kid!”

“Al-alright.”

After the short disruption, Allen wasn’t in the mood to continue touring the training areas. He went towards the centre of the floor, a wide space that was basically a plaza cordoned off with metal pillars. There were five rows of benches placed in a circular fashion around a wide space in the middle.

There weren’t too many people here, only a few small groups of twos and threes were sitting together. And as Allen entered the area, all of the children looked up at him with different kinds of gazes.

Other than the majority of the children who simply looked back and continued their conversations, he could see two children who were looking at him with animosity and one girl who smiled at him sweetly. Allen walked towards a child who was sitting alone, from the side, Allen could guess that he was about a year or two older than himself. He had soft light brown hair that reached the sides of his pale and slightly malnourished face.

This boy was rather lanky, and his nimble fingers fiddled with the A.I. in his hands as he seemed to be playing a game. The child was controlling an agile hamster to dodge a series of balls flying his way. And as he turned the corner, he was hit with a ball and the game ended.

He cursed, “Damn, I died here again.”

He seemed to have already noticed Allen and he quickly turned his head towards him with a calm expression. He waved the device in his hands, “Wanna play? It’s good for training reflexes too.”

“No thanks, I just trained at the reflex training area. Hello, my name is Allen……”

“Ansi.” The boy gave his own name as a strange smile appeared on his face, “You’re looking for an alliance?”

“You?”

He shrugged, “Yea, but I’m not good at making friends. So you see, I’ve been here a few days but I still haven’t made a single friend. You’re a new face, don’t tell me it’s your first day here?”

“You guys came on the first day?” Allen was surprised.

Ansi was even more surprised, “Didn’t you know? Making an alliance to kill the rest then fighting amongst your group to decide the winner is something that’s become the norm throughout the years.”

Allen was a bit awkward, “In truth, my teacher only told me such a thing recently.”

Ansi laughed, “I think your teacher seems to be an unqualified fellow.”

Remembering the half drunk Hughton, Allen nodded, “I think so too.”

The two children smiled at each other, and as Allen wanted to get closer to him, a few more boys appeared around them. The girl who had smiled at Allen spoke, “You’re Allen, the one who broke the reflex training area’s record just now?”

Allen nodded in surprise.

A freckled boy spoke, “That’s amazing, Allen. Let’s be friends, I’m Kud, this is Wei Er. There’s Husk and Norman too……”

They “enthusiastically” pulled Allen away from Ansi, and the boy named Kud placed his arm onto his shoulder, “Don’t hang out with Ansi, he seems gloomy.”

And as they pulled him away, Allen couldn’t help but turn back, to see that the lanky boy was already gone.

“Allen broke Lucy’s record, that’s revenge for us. That girl has been super arrogant these few days……”

“Since it’s a good day today, let’s go drink?”

Allen was taken aback, he learned that was actually a bar here and also the name of that haughty girl. These new bunch of friends seemed to be overly enthusiastic as they practically abducted Allen to the bar. Feeling strange, he turned towards the girl named Wei Er, who tried to hide her nervous expression with a forced smile.

The bar was at the corner of the hall, and as he entered, Allen noticed that it was unusually quiet. A plump child was sitting on a bar chair, and he resembled a mountain of meat that was squeezed into a tight shirt.

His strangely sociable “friends” retreated as Kud locked the bar’s doors from the inside, even politely hanging a “closed” sign on the outside. Somewhat understanding what was going on, Allen spoke coldly, “It doesn’t seem like you’re planning to treat me to a drink.”

The fat boy jumped down from the chair as his two elephant-like legs slammed onto the ground. The meat on the boy’s body giggled as his eyes squinted at Allen, he smiled, “I’m Lucen. Allen, I heard you broke Lucy, that bitch’s record.”

“So what?”

“Nothing much, one nimble kid like Lucy is enough. If there’s another one, it’s going to be a headache for a lot of people. For everyone’s sake, how do you feel if we were to break your limbs?” The fatty smiled as he spoke casually.

Allen’s eyes became sharp as he surveyed the faces of the children, “Do you all think so too?”

The girl named Wei Er lowered her head as her hands squirmed uncomfortably behind her.

The remaining children didn’t back down as they stared back at Allen, Kud even spoke with a reddened face, “That’s right, if it weren’t for baiting you, did you think that we’d be interested in being friends with some white-haired kid like you? Of course, if you surrender your ass, I think Lucen might be interested in being friends with you.”

The remaining children laughed as Lucen continued, “Do you know how I walked out of the training camp in District 12? It’s quite simple, I exploded every single person’s head by sitting on them.”

Allen smiled, “Is that so? I’d like for you to know something as well. Not only am I nimble, I’m also……”

“Strong!”

And just as he finished his sentence, his body was already ramming into Kud’s. His fist slammed into the boy’s nose, breaking it with a loud crunch. Seeing this, the two children charged and hugged Allen as they tried to punch at his ribs. The weakest of the children here already condensed at least two origin vortexes, and their strength was far from little.

Allen wasn’t strong enough to ignore these attacks, but the time he spent in the barracks and the wilderness had taught him to bear the pain. Grabbing their fists, Allen kicked towards Norman’s crotch, causing the boy’s eyes to roll up into his head as he lost his strength. Letting him go, Allen slammed his palm into the other boy’s neck, sending him a few steps back as he struggled to breathe.

Giving him no chance to react, Lucen shouted from behind him and slammed his body into the tables in front of them. And before he could recover, the fatty charged yet again. With a raise of his leg, he kicked at Allen’s chest. However, Allen barely managed to roll away as he kicked his leg. Sending him crashing onto the ground and screaming, Allen pounced on top of him, punching his nose.

But before he could do anything more damage, the sound of splitting wind came behind him. Allen quickly raised his arms as a glass bottle shattered, cutting into his hands.

Watching the blood on the ground, Allen’s eyes became redder. His short silver grey hair stood as he stared at Kud, who was still holding onto half a bottle. Raising his leg, he kicked the boy in the chest, sending Kud flying as his chest visibly collapsed.

Making use of Kud’s distraction, Lucen crawled from the ground and grabbed Allen with his two arms, he shouted towards the girl in the corner, “Wei Er, cripple him!”

Lucen’s Origin rumbled as he grabbed Allen with all his strength. Allen could see the light coming out of the fatty’s arm as he struggled. Wei Er carefully approached them with a knife in her hand with a conflicted expression, steeling herself, she stabbed at Allen. But before it could make contact, the window behind Lucen shattered suddenly.

A silhouette jumped from the windows, rolled along the tables and jumped upwards behind Lucen. Its fists punched into Lucen’s temples, forcing the fatty’s grip to weaken as he screamed.

Using this chance, Allen grabbed Lucen’s arm and a light appeared in the depths of his red eyes. With a grunt, he activated the Origin in his body and threw the boy. Wei Er screamed as she retreated, dropping the weapon in her hands. Seeing that Lucen was dazed, Allen stared at the girl that had helped him. He could see a golden ponytail dancing behind her head and the smile that hung on her face. Her jade-like green eyes were so deep that it seemed to draw people in.

“It’s you?” The person who helped him at such a key moment was actually the blond girl who argued about wanting him as her underling.

Lucy!
