Allen’s body suddenly started swaying like a flower in the wind. And as he moved, the chill he felt earlier disappeared, the sniper had lost his aim. After all, moving around was the best way to counter snipers. But what followed was a sudden explosion at his feet as well as a gunshot sound from afar, a hole appeared on the ground next to him. This sniper was impatient in killing Allen.

Allen could now counterattack as the sniper reloaded and aimed again. He didn’t have any time to take care of his wounds as he leaned forwards and ran like a snow wolf through the forest. He exhausted himself by running with alternating steps, but it made his movements even harder to track. As he moved by another five hundred meters, the sniper shot again, hitting the trunk of a tree next to him.

He was close by.

Allen had already escaped the forest, and was now standing at a cliff with a few umbrella-like trees around him. As he moved around, the leaves on one of the trees suddenly shook as a figure jumped down and ran towards the other direction. With a grunt, Allen decided to let him go. Snipers had this advantage, once they were located, they could run before they were ambushed.

Allen was alone right now, and with the wide open terrain, it was difficult for him to chase after the sniper. He could only let him go.

His hand was pressed on his abdomen, because of his movements, blood was now pouring out of his wound at an even faster rate.

Finding a place to hide, he took off the armor on his upper body and tore his clothes into strips to bandage his wound. Luckily, Qiao’s knife wasn’t too broad, this was an injury that could heal without any stitches.

All it needed was time.

Wearing his armor again, Allen returned to the forest. His shirt was now in tatters, and he simply tossed it and picked up Qiao’s clothes and his supplies he had dropped earlier. Looking up at the sun, he determined his direction and started heading west.

Right after he left, two more children came into the forest. Looking at Qiao and Hera’s corpses, one of the freckled red haired boys spoke, “We’re late.”

The other was wearing glasses, “Good thing we’re late.”

The red haired boy turned Hera’s body to loot, but eventually gave up on taking his vambrace, these kinds of weapons were not something anyone could use. And as for Qiao’s long knife, it was already taken by Allen. Walking around the area, they quickly found the supplies Allen had left. The food was completely untouched, to their surprise.

“It wasn’t a waste of time.”

The bespectacled boy looked around warily, “We can’t take that much, don’t be greedy, just take some.”

“No shit.” His companion laughed.

Allen’s leftovers were like rotting meat that attracted vultures, it was split between the children who came for his announced location, and was eventually emptied. As for Allen, he was headed towards the west where he would meet Lucy. It didn’t matter where they were dropped, they simply decided on heading west to look for the highest point there.

It could be a hill, a tall tree, anything that was obvious enough.

After leaving the forest, Allen could see the terrain before him. He could see a river curved around a grass plains, and the green grass was spread on the ground like a green carpet. At his northwest was a forest intersecting into the grass plains, and the borders of the forest crept towards the west, pointing at the peak of a mountain.

On the mountain, it’s peak was cutting through the clouds above as the sunlight penetrated the snowy mist.

In the blue skies above him, a flock of birds were flying past as they chirped loudly. And on the green grass, a herd of deers could be seen drinking the water from the lake. Suddenly, the deers rose their heads before running off, scared away by a sabertooth wolf. Allen recognized that animal, it was a grade three Danger that could use life Origin, but it was different from Bai Fang’s ice powers, instead, they had amplified speed and strength.

It could reach a hundred kilometres per hour in seconds, and it’s bite was strong enough to shatter human bones easily. It’s appearance meant that this land wasn’t as safe as it seemed.

Checking his weapons again, Allen kept Massacre on his back and Qiao’s long knife in his hands, these were the weapons he would rely on to get through this area. He raised his head and targeted the peak of the mountain before starting to move again.

At the same time, in the forest northwest of the plains, Lucy was also headed to the same destination. Her hair was tied into twintails and she carried a heavy bag as she walked. Occasionally, she would climb onto a tree to check her surroundings before continuing her journey. And unlike the rest of the children here, her face had an easygoing smile.

As night fell, Lucy hummed a little tune as she set up camp at an open space, she would arrive at her destination tomorrow. Her voice travelled within the forest while she cleaned the area and started a fire. Creating a rack above the fire with some branches, she took out a few pieces of sliced meat and started preparing her dinner.

And in just a few moments, the smell of cooked meat filled the forest.

The sounds of rustling appeared near her, causing her to glance at the forest as two shadows moved around, followed by red and blue spots of light. Lighting a fire at night would attract Dangers easily, but this wasn’t any of Lucy’s concern, she was only worried about her dinner tonight. When the meat was finally grilled to a golden colour, she picked up a slice with her dagger and started to eat with her fingers.

The flavour of meat exploded in her mouth as she nodded in satisfaction, she moved the rack of meat from the fire and waited for it to cool down. But before she could feast, she could see the two figures appear before her under the light of her fire.

“Isn’t this lady Lucy? I even smell roasted meat, how lucky.” A shrill voice spoke, it belonged to a fifteen year old boy, his light brown hair stuck to his forehead and he had a large nose despite his lanky body. He rested a black spear on his shoulder with his hands as he walked over leisurely.

Next to him was another boy of the same age, but he was shorter and sturdier. He wore a small circular shield on his left arm while he held a small axe in the other. There were still traces of blood on his shield, and she watched as a drop of blood fell from the axe, it was still fresh.

“Sinta, Sam.” Lucy nodded, “Alright, we’ve exchanged our greetings. It’s your cue to leave, this forest is big enough for you to camp elsewhere.”

The boys looked at each other before laughing. Sinta took his spear from his shoulder and turned it in his hand as he moved towards Lucy, “Have you misunderstood something? Ms Lucy, we’re here for you.”

Lucy smiled, “Don’t you dare take my meat, that isn’t a good idea.”

“No, rather than the meat, we’d prefer you!” Sinta charged forwards suddenly. The boy was like a gust of wind as he appeared before Lucy.

In his eyes, Lucy had no time to dodge or even get up, the girl who was seated on the ground didn’t even seem to have had any time to react. Sinta could already predict the moment when his spear pierced through the heart of this girl.

But before he could do so, an automatic pistol appeared between the both of them. The gun had a beautiful rose pattern that covered the gun from the handle to the barrel.

Lucy’s smile became even brighter, “That’s a worse idea!”

The girl pressed onto the trigger, and the boy couldn’t tell if it was his imagination but he could see the pattern on the gun lighting up as a spark appeared in the gun’s barrel. He tried to swerve to the side, but he didn’t have the time to move an inch as a bullet with an “A” carved into its tip shot from the gun’s barrel.

The entire situation played out in seconds. From the moment Sinta pounced, until Lucy shot and exploded the boy’s head, it was over in an instant. And even before she could finish her sentence, Sam could already see his companion flying towards him, covered in blood.

He paused before roaring, raising the shield to block his head as he charged towards Lucy. Seeing this, the girl jumped up from the ground and raised her gun to shoot again. Shocked, Sam turned his head as he felt a burning sensation brush past his ears. The boy’s eyes bulged as he stared at his shield in disbelief, the gun had blown a hole in his shield, and if it weren’t for his instincts earlier, he would’ve been dead already.

While the shield in his hands wasn’t high class equipment, it was still made with steel. It didn’t make sense how Lucy’s gun could pierce through his shield that easily. But suddenly, a scary thought flashed past his mind.

Demonic gun!

His gaze became heated, if it was really a demonic gun in her hands, it would be worth a whole lot more than this girl’s life. But in Sam’s pathetically limited knowledge, he didn’t know of a demonic gun that could shoot real bullets.

In the blink of an eye, Sam was already next to the fire. He kicked at the fire, sending the burning branches towards Lucy as a distraction as he sliced at Lucy with his axe.

It was a vicious move, he had no plans of being gentle to the girl.

“You barbarian!” Lucy protested as she dodged backwards, avoiding both the ashes and his axe.

Sam completely ignored the girl’s protest as he rolled on the ground, moving forwards with his axe aimed towards her legs. He was hot on her heels as he exhausted every trick in his book, right now, she didn’t seem to have any time to shoot her gun.

Lucy used this chance as Sam attacked to aim her gun at him, shocking the boy into retreating. But as he looked up at her, he saw the smile on the girl’s face before she turned to run away. It was a ruse!

His face turned red as he threw the axe at the girl in frustration. The axe spun in the air, but before it could make contact with the girl, Lucy suddenly lowered her body, causing the axe to hit the tree trunk before her. At the same time, she turned her body and aimed the gun towards Sam.

He didn’t expect Lucy to counterattack right after dodging, and before he could move, she had already shot at him. With a roar, he raised his shield again, circulating his Origin to form a pattern before his shield.

This was “Shield”, another technique in Shida that was commonly used for defence. It used Origin to create a barrier made for defence, but as he formed this shield, he could feel an explosion at his head as his body became light.

His body fell backwards slowly, and even as he died, he didn’t understand how the bullet managed to pierce through his shield and his Origin shield.

It was unbelievable!
