That was a human.

Or more accurately, a human youth. He seemed to be roughly ten years of age, yet he had a built larger and sturdier of those his age. Perhaps due to the constant exercise, his limbs were filled with an explosive power, resembling he was a grown snow wolf.

The youth had a unkempt head of pale grey hair, it gave him a wild look, and when it was coupled with his bright, Ruby like eyes, he looked even more feral.

A small smile could be seen on his face as he walked towards the deer. Squatting down, the caressed the antlers of the deer gently as he spoke, “I’m sorry, man. It’s a bit hard to find food recently, so you see, it’s hard for me to let you go. Come, I’ll put you out of your misery.”

His hand pressed on the dagger’s handle and pulled upwards gently, cutting the artery of the deer. Strangely, not a single drop of blood could be seen from the injury, and after the boy pulled the dagger out from the deer’s corpse, it’s blood could be seen dancing on the blade!

The blood was being absorbed by the dagger through a mysterious method, leaving not a single drop of blood on the blade when it was done. It seemed clean, with the golden patterns reflecting the sunlight. Looking at his dagger, the boy spoke, “You rascal, you’re getting greedier and greedier.”

Sheathing the dagger and putting it back on his waist, Allen turned to grab the front legs of the deer. Despite being smaller than the carcass, he threw it onto his back and headed back towards the trees. As he walked, he spoke to himself softly, “I hope Bai Fang that fellow would eat this and get better soon.”

The boy was naturally Allen who had left with the silver snow wolf 5 years ago, and after all this time, he grew from a boy into a teen.

In these five years, Allen had lived with the wolf pack. Throughout the years of hunting together with Bai Fang, he learnt to do many things. But after all this time, when he looked at the blade his mother had gave him, he would still remember that black and white image.

The black ground contrasting against that severed white finger, as well as the glint of light that reflected on the silver ring.

Allen would bury himself in the snow when he recalled this memory, in hopes of calming the fire burning in his heart. That was the anger he had towards the man who had abandoned his wife and his son.

Archimedes! That unknown father he had, the man that he swore to stab in the heart with his dagger one day!

He quickly reached the valley where the pack was, but he was suddenly disrupted by the sound of a gunshot. With a sudden change in expression, he threw the deer down and ran.

There was hunters!

That was bad, considering that this was a difficult period for the pack. Bai fang was injured, gravely injured!

Half a year ago, when the pack came to the valley within this forest, they moved into a cave that was about a few hundred square meters big. To gain the right to this territory, Bai Fang had to defeat a level 3 Danger, a gigantic cave spider.

When he finally tore the spider into pieces, the dying struggle of the Danger left a grave wound on Bai Fang.

Even after half a year, Bai Fang’s situation still didn’t look too good. The once shiny grey fur was now dull and falling off in patches, revealing the rotten flesh on its body, giving the snow wolf an aura of death.

If the hunters were to attack now, the pack would definitely choose to stay with Bai Fang, giving the hunters a chance to catch them all. The pack never gives up on their own, a trait that had also been ingrained into Allen’s soul.

In the blink of an eye, the youth ran to the entrance of the valley.

From afar, he could see a few soldiers firing towards the valley as thick yellow smoke floated around. Wolves were being forced out by the smoke, and were shot instantly by the soldiers with no chance to retaliate. One of the stronger males rushed forwards even after being shot, but before he could penetrate the lines of the soldiers, he was shot to the ground by Gut with a rifle. Followed by a few more gunshots, the snow wolf was left on ground, spasming as it died.

That was Tony! A lazy, but still good natured wolf.

Blood seemed to drip from the already red eyes Allen had. A weak noise escaped from his throat as he jumped from a camphor tree and onto a soldier’s back. Allen was as nimble as a monkey, sliding his dagger against the soldier’s throat as he landed on his back, ending the soldier’s life.

“Fuck!” A white soldier on the side shouted as he pulled a gun from his waist, shooting it at Allen.

The long years of living in the wild had nurtured the animalistic instincts that he had, and using these instincts, he quickly dropped to the ground to dodge the bullet. As his hands touched the ground, he slid his body towards the white soldier. A glint of light was reflected on the blade as it sliced the soldier’s leg tendon in half. With a pained cry, the solider fell, and in an instant, Allen jumped onto his back.

The cold reflection on the blade glinted again as he slid the throat of this soldier.

Gunshots could be heard as a bullet entered Allen’s right shoulder, causing him to drop the dagger. Jumping forward, Allen used the soldier’s corpse as a shield. Placing the dagger between his teeth, Allen moved forwards. In his line of sight, he could see the frustrated expression on Gut’s face.

In just a few seconds, a white kid had actually managed to kill two of them. If this were to spread, his soldiers would become the joke of this year. Frustrated, Gut was ruthless as he shot at Allen, but he had underestimated his abilities. Dodging agilely, Allen was able to avoid every single shot Gut had fired.

Rolling forwards a few times, Allen entered Gut’s blind spot. Jumping out from the ground, he released his jaw to drop the dagger right into his hands. Allen’s pupils widened as the blood pumped in his body, twisting the blade in his hands, he aimed it towards Gut’s throat. Clenching his teeth, Gut also aimed the gun to Allen’s forehead.

Before the two were able to kill each other, a hand appeared in the air, tossing Allen into the hand by his wrist. Slamming into a tree trunk, Allen had no time to recover as a fist slammed into his face, pounding him into the ground. A foot quickly pressed against his head, stepping down with an increasing force that threatened to crush his skull.

“Don’t kill him.” The leader, Andy spoke.

“Why?” A woman’s voice could be heard above him.

“That boy seemed to be raised by the wolves, a wolf boy. Hey, doesn’t that seem pretty good too? Maybe someone on the Babylon would take such a unique pet.” Andy shrugged, “Furthermore, didn’t Hearn that old man say something along the lines of wanting an undocumented boy, a child to replace his son for the survival game. I’m pretty sure he’ll be willing to put in the money.”

Allen barely managed to moved his head to glance at the thighs of the woman above him. She leaned forwards, spitting on the boy, “Consider yourself lucky, boy.”

At this moment, an anguished bowl could be heard from the valley. Hearing this, Allen’s heart clenched with pain, that was Bai Fang.

Andy raised his hands excitedly, stopping Gut’s soldiers from acting recklessly. After a moment, a shaky snow wolf walked towards them. Bai fang looked different, he no longer had the shiny fur he had when he first met Allen, and some patches of the fur had also fell off, revealing its rotten flesh.

The only thing that remained the same, was it’s calm blue eyes.

The smile on Andy’s face froze as he saw Bai Fang. Grabbing his head, he complained, “What the fuck is this? Silver snow wolf? Yes, it might have been, but now? I spent so much of my efforts to hunt an already dying trash?”

With the state that Bai Fang was in, even if Andy were to kill him cleanly, he wasn’t worth much money. And as Andy threw his tantrum, Bai Fang looked towards Allen. As their eyes met, Allen could tell that Bai Fang was asking why he chose to stay.

A forced smile appeared on Allen’s face.

Understanding what Allen meant, a deep growl escaped from its throat as it started to run. Just like how Allen had chose to stay, it would choose to protect its pack. Bai Fang would use his actions to repay Allen’s loyalty. To him, Allen was already part of their pack, and protecting their pups was an iron rule of every pack!

As Bai Fang ran towards them, a weird sound escaped from Andy’s throat as he also moved forwards. Bai Fang spat a gust of icy wind from his mouth, but because of the summer season and his weak body, the breath he created was weak. Andy didn’t even have to dodge as he moved through the attack, slamming his fist on the wolf’s head.

Bai fang collapsed onto the ground.

Shaking it’s head, it tried to bite into Andy, but with a strange movement, Andy dodged the attack. He circled around the wolf, a peculiar action in the eyes of other people. But to Allen, he could see a line of purple Origin releasing from his fingertips, slowly wrapping itself against Bai Fang like a spider’s thread.

The Origin wrapped itself around Bai Fang’s body, slowing down his movements. Finally, when Bai Fang could not move anymore, Andy moved forwards and petted his head while smiling at Allen. Pulling the Origin thread with his hands, it sliced into Bai Fang decapitating his body.

Allen’s eyes widened.

“No!”

He screamed as he harnessed a strength that came from nowhere, raising his head. With a shocked expression and a curse, Sinna stepped his head back into the ground, leaving him just an eye to look at his surroundings. His vision aligned with Bai fang’s eyes as his head were cut off, his blue eyes looking back calmly at Allen.

This was like the night five years ago, the last glance he had with Lannie. In that quick look was too many things, so many feelings that couldn’t be described with words.

Allen stared straight at Bai Fang, as if he was engraving it’s eyes into his soul.

Waves of sorrow drowned him.

But he didn’t cry.

Five years ago, he lost Lannie.

Five years later, he lost Bai Fang.

And now, he was alone again. This world, was still that cruel.
