He planned on killing everyone in this world.
“Yin Xuezhuo.”
The girl in his arms suddenly reached out her arm and tugged on the sleeve of his clothes.
“It…must’ve been very painful, right?”
Yin Xuezhuo looked at her with a gloomy smile on his face, “What? Are you pitying me?”
Ji Yan shook his head.
“I do feel pity for you. But I don’t approve of the way you’re killing innocent people now that you’re powerful.” She lowered his gaze and took a deep breath before she continued. But it was hard to breathe because there was a lump at her throat, “I can’t change you. I also can’t fully imagine the pain you’ve suffered in the past. I know that I cannot change your opinion on humans nor could I stop you from killing others.”
Everyone had their stance, and no one can be 100% responsible for what happened in the past. She also can’t change their current situation, so everyone was at a deadlock right now.
It was fine if other people called her selfish because she admitted that she was selfish. When she came to this world, her sole goal was to protect her life and find a way to return to her own world.
As for other people…she will try saving them, but if she fails, then there was nothing else she could’ve done.
It was already difficult enough for her to protect herself now.
Yin Xuezhuo already declared that he will not let her live.
She took in another deep breath and said, “However, I want to decide on my own path. I don’t want to look at those bloody scenes because I’m human. I can’t numb my emotions like you. I know you want to kill me, but you can’t, so you’re forcing yourself to tolerate me.”
“So…” She raised her head with some difficulty and made a request, “Before the bond between us breaks, I will follow through with all your plans, but you must not make things difficult for me, okay?”
She needed a little time.
She needed more time to calm down and take in everything that had happened.
What did the system mean when it told her that there were new opportunities to change the plot? Could she really blindly stand by Yin Xuezhuo’s side? Could she maintain her indifference no matter whom he fights again? What if he tried to kill her again?
Ji Yan fell into a trance. After she made her final request, she fell onto his chest as darkness took her vision.
The endless darkness wrapped around her legs and dragged her deeper and deeper.
The darkness was bottomless as she continued to fall.
While she was immersed in the darkness, she seemed to have dreamt of a flashback from the original book.
Yin Xuezhuo looked very young in her dream. He was clad in white and he had a gentle demeanor. It seemed that he had just learned how to transform into a human form as he stood in the forbidden area in the Kunning Sect. There was a heavy set of chains on his wrists.
A girl clothed in yellow stood in front of him. She didn’t appear afraid, instead, she even smiled at him.
“Are you sure that you want me to name you?”
The young boy looked at the smiling girl in front of her and nodded his head awkwardly.
“I think you’re very handsome. Your aura is as clean as snow, yet you are brimming with passion. Why don’t you share my last name and name yourself as ‘Yin Xuezhuo’’?”
The boy looked at her unwaveringly and removed a scale from her body.
“Thank you.” He said, “This is for you.”
“What is this?” The young girl took the scale from him and rubbed it curiously, “Is this from your body?”
The young boy stared at her and said, “This is Black Ice Scale.”
The people who captured him were greedy for his scales, yet he gave his only remaining scale to the young girl who had just named him.
He believed that the young girl was different from others because she was the only person who had never treated him well. He hoped that she would stay safe and gave her all the kindness he had in him.
But in the end, she betrayed him.
She worked with the people who had hurt him and imprisoned him in the refining abyss. She even used the scale he gave her to hurt him; all the while saying that he was an evil spirit.
He was forced onto the path of evil. He didn’t want to kill so many people either.
However, no one listened to his excuse or even considered his feelings.
In the final scene of the flashback, Ji Yan watched as Yin Xuezhuo was forced onto chains and imprisoned in the refining abyss. His body was covered in scars and his wounds dripped with blood as he was left to die in the sea of fire.
