From the Duchy of Felzenstein in the Kingdom of Lovarta, it takes about two hours by boat to reach the Kingdom of Stilier. Considering that it takes two weeks by carriage from the Duchy of Felzenstein to the capital of Lovarta, it's incredibly close.
Well, there's also the difference in travel speed between land and water routes.
In a world without cars, the only way to move is by the hooves of horses, so land travel is a bit challenging and time-consuming. Additionally, carriages aren't as elegant as they look; sitting in one for a long time can make your butt sore, and it shakes and jolts.
I wish someone in this world would invent a car. If I had known I was going to be reincarnated, I would have studied the structure of cars with my family and memorized it. But then again, in a world without gasoline, you'd have to start by finding oil and refining it into gasoline, so just knowing the structure might not have been enough.
However, this world has magic to make up for the lack of scientific development. Most nobles have magical power, so my family and I can all use magic. Ships are powered by magic stones that store magical energy, so they can move smoothly without gasoline. Human power is only needed to raise the sails. Unlike old ships, there's no need for a large crew to row with oars.
I thought about attaching magic stones to carriages to make them more comfortable, but since it hasn't been developed, there might not be much benefit to doing so.
"The sea breeze feels so nice."
As I stretched out on the deck, my brother with an umbrella came over.
...Yeah, what's up with a duke's daughter being out in the sun without an umbrella while her brother is holding one?
"Vil, you'll get a tan. You were born so beautiful, you should take better care of your appearance."
My brother, who is well-protected by his umbrella, takes his appearance very, very, very seriously.
In my previous life, he was Sato Katsu. Despite having a name that suggested he was blessed, he was actually the opposite.
First, he was average at everything. He was tall and thin, with an average appearance. His sports, academic performance, and looks were all average. He was a rather unremarkable young man, and he didn't get much attention from girls.
Even though he was average in everything, he should have been somewhat popular, but apparently, women aren't attracted to men who are average in everything. It seems that women can't help but be drawn to men who have a bit of a flaw, look a bit dangerous, or excel in one area but are lacking in others. I don't really understand it, but that's how it is.
Anyway, my brother, who was completely unattractive in his previous life, seems to have awakened to something strange after being reincarnated with a blessed appearance.
First, he is overly concerned with his appearance. He also constantly boasts about how handsome he is. Additionally, his appearance and status as a duke's son make him a sensation wherever he goes, and he gets fawned over by girls and children, which has made him even more obsessed with his looks. This has created a vicious cycle, resulting in a brother who carries an umbrella even on the deck of a ship.
"Brother, I think a little tan would make you look cooler."
"What if you get spots? What if you end up with a sunburn, and your hair turns red and dry like a fake surfer? I will never, ever get a tan."
He even wants sunscreen, and I find it annoying that this world doesn't have it, so I'll just ignore him.
"I'm going to spend my life in this world being fawned over by girls. Viva! Popular life! Viva! Handsome! Thank you, God, for giving me this appearance!"
Ah, he's so annoying, and I don't want to be associated with him, so I'll keep my distance.
I put my hands on the deck railing and squinted at the approaching shoreline. Uncle, the King of Stilier, said he would have a carriage ready to pick us up at the port.
Here we go, the beginning of my second life in the Kingdom of Stilier!
I was about to recall something about the "Kingdom of Stilier," but my brother started singing an annoying tune, "I wonder if there are lots of cute girls in the Kingdom of Stilier~!" so I gave up on thinking about it.
Yeah, brother, you're really annoying.
