"Excuse me."
"…Welcome."
For the labor investigation, Rihito first visited the area closest to the deepest part. The person in charge of this area seemed to be a cleanliness enthusiast, currently in the middle of cleaning up a century's worth of dust.
Since this area had a lot of books, it seemed to be several times more difficult compared to other areas.
"It looks tough…"
"It can't be helped. On the contrary, the sense of accomplishment when it's clean is supposed to be amazing. So, why did you come?"
(Fayris… that’s right. According to the information I got from Aria, she’s someone whose thoughts are always a mystery—just as I expected.)
Fayris tilted her head, waiting for Rihito's response.
Her expression showed no change.
Was she being cautious, or was she simply curious?
Literally, it was impossible to tell what she was thinking.
"For the sake of protecting Dystopia, I heard that everyone's burden is too heavy. I’m here to investigate how to alleviate that… I have Aria’s permission, so you can rest assured—"
"—You are our savior. I will cooperate with anything."
Before Rihito could finish his sentence,
Fayris immediately knelt at Rihito's feet.
She seemed ready to kiss his palm.
From this reaction, it was clear how harsh the working conditions were.
"So, can you tell me how many areas Fayris is currently in charge of?"
"Five."
"Five!?"
Rihito couldn't help but raise his voice.
The fact that Fayris alone was responsible for five areas was hard to believe.
From the looks of it, the other three were probably assigned similar numbers.
The shortage of manpower in Dystopia seemed to be more severe than Rihito had imagined.
"It’s tough when the enemy comes. Since this is the area closest to the Demon King, the pressure is several times greater."
"You’re really struggling…"
"Iris and Tise are guarding their areas in pairs, so the work ends up coming to me. It can’t be helped, but…"
"I see."
Just by having a brief conversation, Rihito discovered numerous issues in Dystopia.
And these were not problems that could be solved overnight.
"In that case, we might have to use traps or something to cover the empty areas. Of course, this would depend on Aria’s approval."
"The current Demon King is in a good mood, so it might work out. Besides, Rihito is the one who brought us back to life. I’m sure he will listen to us."
True to her words—Fayris was quite cooperative.
She stopped her cleaning and looked at Rihito intently.
"Now is the time for revolution."
It almost seemed like she was about to raise the banner of rebellion.
There was such a passionate zeal in her words.
