Chapter 8

"Hello...?"

"...? This is the First Domain, you know? Has something happened?"

Licht wanted to say, "There is a problem, actually," but he decided to keep his mouth shut, as it might cause confusion.

(Roze... Since she's a vampire, she should be sleeping during the day... but she's not. It seems she doesn't even have time to rest. The First Domain must be very busy.)

There, patrolling to prepare for any enemies, was Roze. The First Domain was more important than the others, and the pressure of guarding such a vast area must have been quite a burden.

"I'm currently investigating the manpower shortage in this dystopia, and it seems to be more serious than I thought..."

"That's quite a task... I can imagine how tough it must be for Feiris and the others. I feel bad because I'm not doing much in comparison..."

"Huh?"

Roze's response was unexpected. Among those Licht had seen, Roze was by far the busiest. She was patrolling without even taking time to sleep, which made her stand out as the most hardworking.

"Um, how many other domains is Roze responsible for besides this one?"

"Seven...?"

"Seven!?"

Licht couldn't hide his surprise. Roze was undoubtedly the one with the greatest burden. However, she didn't seem to realize it. Her seriousness and humility were showing in a negative way.

"That... needs to be addressed."

"But, but, I'm a vampire, so it's fine! I have more stamina than anyone else!"

Roze smiled at Licht with a carefree grin. From their brief conversation, Licht had a sense of Roze's character.

It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that this dystopia is supported by a vampire who is exceptionally kind-hearted.

"Well, adding more work would be tough... hehe."

(Simply put, if there aren't enough people, we need to increase the workforce... but it doesn't seem like just any being would be suitable.)

"Got it!"

"W-What's the matter...?"

Licht remembered a certain being.

To make the dystopia even more secure, increasing the workforce was essential. Naturally, gathering individuals one by one would take a considerable amount of time.

However, there was one being who could mock such a task.

A being that any adventurer would surely know.

In Licht's mind, the legendary necromancer came to mind.
