Matthew Addison nodded in response to the mercenary woman's words and said, "Let's start the operation."

The mercenaries, upon hearing Matthew Addison's words, all began to act according to his orders.

Seeing that his subordinates had started to act, the mercenary leader Matthew Addison turned to the remaining people and said, "The rest of you follow me."

The group continued to advance towards the location where the Flame Empress's mainframe was installed. Along the way, they passed through several steel doors. Then, they arrived at a central computer control room. Of course, the central computer, the Flame Empress, had already lost control, and it was no longer possible to directly control the entire laboratory from here.

The mercenary most skilled in computers was named Kaplan. He immediately opened three laptops, and his hands rapidly tapped away on the keyboards. However, after several minutes, the door leading directly to the central computer remained tightly closed.

Another female mercenary couldn't help but ask, "Why is it taking so long?"

Kaplan, without turning his head, replied, "The Flame Empress is an intelligent computer with a very complete defense system. If it were easy to break through its firewall, it wouldn't be used as the main computer for the laboratory..."

As he spoke, a soft sound was heard, and the tightly closed door finally began to slowly open. Matthew Addison nodded and said, "Get the equipment ready!" Then, he turned to look at Qian Youliang and the others.

"Stay here."

Behind the door was a corridor about ten meters long, with glass walls on both sides, completely different from the steel walls outside the door.

After saying this, Matthew Addison walked inward on his own, moving very cautiously, each step taken with great care. Even so, when he reached the middle of the corridor, he was still startled, as the glass walls around him suddenly lit up. The sudden change was enough to make an ordinary person's limbs go weak.

Kaplan's voice came from the intercom, "Don't worry, it's just an automatic sensor light, nothing to be concerned about."

Automatic sensor light? Even an ordinary person would know it wasn't that simple. Where would a company install so many light tubes in the walls? Qian Youliang couldn't help but complain in her mind.

Matthew Addison had already placed the transmitter, a device similar to a mobile phone, on the door's sensor. Kaplan immediately started typing on the keyboard again. After a short while, a soft sound was heard, and the door to the central computer finally began to slowly open.

Matthew Addison breathed a sigh of relief and called out to the group outside the corridor, "Alright, bring the equipment over."

Alice suddenly asked, "What equipment? What is it?"

Kaplan, who was closest to her, said, "This is a device that can shut down the Flame Empress. It can emit a strong electromagnetic pulse to force the mainframe to shut down and restart..."

At this moment, the mercenary holding the device was about to enter the corridor. Matthew Addison said to the others behind him, "Let's go, don't just stand there."

When Qian Youliang and the others heard Matthew Addison's words, none of them dared to take a step forward. They were not Zheng Zha, not favored by the main god. They knew that entering the laser corridor was almost certain death. Although the rewards inside the laser corridor were very rich, one needed to be alive to enjoy them.

Matthew Addison walked out of the corridor and silently looked at Qian Youliang and the others. Qian Youliang and the others felt numb under his gaze. After a while, Matthew Addison pointed at Qian Youliang and the middle-aged man and said, "You and you, follow us inside."

Qian Youliang and Zhang Sheng immediately felt their limbs turn cold. Those who had seen the movie knew that the corridor was a death trap. Anyone who entered would surely die, either cut in half or shredded. Even the best mercenary leader had died a terrible death, being sliced into countless small pieces by the lasers.

Seeing Qian Youliang and Zhang Sheng being called into the laser corridor, Zhao Jianwei and Liu Yan both breathed a sigh of relief. They didn't have to go to their deaths, and they had only known Qian Youliang and Zhang Sheng for less than half a day, so they wouldn't feel sad about their deaths. They could only look at them with pity.

Zhang Sheng had also seen the movie "Resident Evil." He knew that entering the corridor with his physical condition and reaction speed would surely result in death by laser. He was in tears, hugging his head in fear, "No, I don't want to, I don't want to go in, I don't want to die!" As he spoke, he suddenly ran backward. Qian Youliang watched in shock as Zhang Sheng ran backward. Before the others could react, the mercenaries had already pulled out their guns and shot him. When he landed, he was already a corpse riddled with bullet holes. The scene was all too familiar, just like in a novel.

"Wow!"

Zhao Jianwei and Liu Yan vomited violently. Most people would only feel a little discomfort or even pleasure when seeing such scenes in horror movies, but when these scenes were presented in real life, ordinary people would feel fear and discomfort, except for the psychopaths.

Qian Youliang, on the other hand, covered her mouth, forcing herself not to vomit, knowing that vomiting at this moment would make her even more uncomfortable.

A life was brutally turned into a corpse right before their eyes, and they felt very uncomfortable, as this person was from their world, evoking a sense of shared fate.

Matthew Addison looked at them coldly and said, "I suspected you from the beginning. Your identities are registered in the company's records, but you don't seem like company security. Now, when I asked you to go in with me, you hesitated. Do you know something?!"

Qian Youliang, seeing the murderous and suspicious look in Matthew Addison's eyes, felt a chill run down her spine. She shook her head nervously and said, "I don't know anything."

"Better be that way. Follow me quickly," Matthew Addison said, giving Qian Youliang a meaningful look.

Qian Youliang's face turned ashen. Although she hadn't vomited, she still felt queasy. Seeing her lagging behind, Matthew Addison didn't show any courtesy and roughly pulled her to prepare to enter the laser corridor with the other mercenaries. Before they entered, Qian Youliang placed her tool bag outside the door, and Liu Yan's eyes flickered with thought as she saw Qian Youliang's tool bag.

As soon as the group entered the corridor, just as in the movie, the doors on both sides closed simultaneously. Matthew Addison no longer cared about Qian Youliang. He and the other mercenaries held their weapons and cautiously observed the surroundings, while he also asked through the intercom, "Kaplan?"

Kaplan, in a hurry, said, "Some kind of dormant defense system. Once too many people pass through the door, it activates after they enter."

Matthew Addison said, "Then keep it dormant!"

Kaplan was already sweating profusely, his hands rapidly tapping on the keyboard as he replied, "I'm trying!"

Matthew Addison helplessly told his subordinates, "Stay where you are and don't move."

"Qian Youliang, do you know what's going on?" Matthew Addison asked, his face full of murderous intent, as he saw Qian Youliang's face turn paler and paler.

Qian Youliang felt a chill run down her spine at Matthew Addison's words. Before she could respond, the plot began, and she became a part of it. Indeed, the walls on both sides of the corridor suddenly dimmed, and a laser line appeared between the glass walls, quickly moving towards the mercenaries and Qian Youliang!

"Get down! Get down quickly!"

Matthew Addison, on edge, immediately shouted and tackled two of his team members to the ground.

However, the medic's attention was still on the closed door. When she turned around due to the movement behind her, she was directly facing the rapidly approaching laser from behind!

At the moment when the woman was about to be decapitated, a figure suddenly tackled her to the ground.

Qian Youliang, when the laser approached, was so frightened that she couldn't move. But she knew she couldn't just stand there; standing would surely result in being cut in half. She bit her tongue hard, using the pain to reduce her fear. As she bit her tongue, she saw the medic still in shock and immediately tackled her to the ground.

Although the action was rough, it saved both of them from the laser.

The medic was fortunate to be saved by Qian Youliang, but one of the team members who was tackled by the captain was not so lucky. His right hand, raised instinctively when he was tackled, was cut off at the fingers by the laser!

"Stay conscious, you're going into shock! Stay conscious! Medic! Medic!"

Matthew Addison's shouts were in vain. The team member, after a few gasps, fell into a state of shock due to the intense pain. If someone had provided first aid, he might have survived, but the captain could only temporarily abandon him.

"Captain, another laser is coming!!"
