Lu Tai placed his hand on his waist and then gestured for Casey to open the door. Casey shook her head and said, "You're making everything so tense here." With that, she walked to the door and opened it.
Standing at the door were a man and a woman, Wesley and Fox! The two immediately saw Lu Tai in the living room.
"Bang!" Wesley pushed the door open, and at the same time, the two quickly drew their pistols from their coats. As members of the Brotherhood, they knew that Lu Tai was the top target of the Assassin's Guild. Two assassins sent out during the day had already been killed by Lu Tai, and they were aware of this. However, they didn't know why Lu Tai would be at Casey's house.
Of course, Lu Tai also didn't understand why everyone in the Brotherhood knew his face. Could it be that the old immortal had already revealed his appearance to Sloan?
"Whoosh, whoosh!!" Before Wesley and Fox could fire their guns, Lu Tai had already thrown two throwing knives. He couldn't kill them; that would make the mission a complete failure. What he needed to do was to subdue them first.
"Clack, clack!" Lu Tai's throwing knives hit the backs of their hands, causing their guns to drop. At the same time, Lu Tai slid in front of them.
"Bang!" Lu Tai struck Wesley first, knocking him unconscious. Fox was about to resist but was immediately kicked in the neck by Lu Tai, also falling unconscious.
"Ah!!!" Casey finally reacted, screaming in fright.
"Shut up!" Lu Tai shouted sternly. Casey instantly stopped moving. Lu Tai's series of actions had already exceeded her imagination.
After silencing Casey, Lu Tai extended his hands and dragged Wesley and Fox into the room, then closed the door tightly.
"Go find some ropes," Lu Tai ordered Casey and took the guns from the two.
"You... What are you going to do with them?" Casey was too scared to move.
"I would have killed them if I wanted to," Lu Tai said, pulling out the knives from their hands and tucking them into his waist. "I told you they are assassins, and their target is me. Hurry up!"
Casey nodded numbly and ran into the kitchen to fetch some ropes. Lu Tai took the ropes, tied Wesley and Fox tightly, and threw them on the sofa. Then, without hesitation, he searched them and took all their money.
Lu Tai counted the money, which was about 4000 US dollars. He took out a few bills and handed them to Casey, saying, "Assassins are always rich. Take it."
Casey was stunned for a moment, then nervously took the money and asked, "What are you going to do with them? We... We should call the police."
Lu Tai shook his head and said, "Assassins are part of the underground world. The police can't handle it there."
Casey shook her head and said, "When did Wesley become an assassin? And... with a woman?"
"A month ago," Lu Tai said, moving a chair to sit in front of the sofa, waiting for them to wake up. He was very confident in the force he used; it wasn't heavy, so they would wake up soon.
Sure enough, as Lu Tai expected, the two slowly woke up after about ten minutes. The first thing they saw was Lu Tai. They saw him playing with their pistols in his hands.
"Logically, I should have killed you two," Lu Tai said slowly when he saw them wake up. "The reason is that you were trying to kill me. But... you're still alive. Do you want to know why?"
Wesley and Fox looked at each other. They understood why the assassins sent to kill this person had died. This person was an expert, and they were no match for him.
Seeing that they didn't speak, Lu Tai continued, "Because I want to tell you two something and also get some information from you."
Lu Tai stood up and paced back and forth in the room, gesturing for Casey to go back to the bedroom. Casey wiped the sweat from her forehead and quietly returned to the bedroom, closing the door.
Lu Tai continued, "All of this is a scam by Sloan. The Loom of Fate has been under his control for a long time."
Upon hearing this, the two changed their expressions, but Fox coldly said, "Nonsense, Sloan would never do such a thing."
Lu Tai glanced at Fox and turned to Wesley, saying, "You, especially you, are more pitiful than this 'fox'..."
"Knock, knock, knock..." Lu Tai's words were cut off by someone knocking on the door. All three looked at the door.
Lu Tai froze, sensing that the person outside was holding a gun, but he couldn't tell who it was. In the movie, the "Cross" would come here at this time, and other assassins from the Brotherhood would also arrive...
If it was the "Cross," Lu Tai couldn't kill him, but if it was someone else...
"Bang~" A crisp sound accompanied a bullet that shot through the door, heading straight for Lu Tai's body.
"Bang!" Lu Tai raised his hand and rolled on the ground. The bullet and Lu Tai's throwing knife met with a dull sound, and then the door was kicked open.
At that moment, Lu Tai saw that the person outside was bald, not the "Cross."
"Whoosh, thud!" The bald man had just seen the situation inside when he was stabbed in the throat by a throwing knife. He fell to the ground with wide eyes.
Just as the bald man hit the ground, Lu Tai was about to get up when he suddenly felt something was wrong. He leaped toward the window with all his might.
"Bang, bang, bang, bang~" A burst of machine gun fire came from the door, and another person rushed in. Seeing Lu Tai at the window, he raised his gun and continued firing.
"Clang, crash!" Lu Tai broke through the window at the fastest speed and flew out. Even in NB, he couldn't avoid all the bullets. As his body flew out the window, he shot another throwing knife.
"Thud!!" The knife hit the machine gunner's forehead and deeply pierced it.
The machine gunner looked at Wesley and Fox on the sofa in disbelief, then fell to the ground, convulsing a few times before dying.
"Crash~" Lu Tai's body fell heavily onto the street. Fortunately, Casey's house was only on the second floor, and he landed on his back, so he wasn't killed. However, the impact was severe, and his internal organs churned violently.
He endured the pain and quickly got up. As he stood up, he saw someone pointing a gun at him. However, this person didn't shoot; he just stared at Lu Tai...
The man was wearing a gray jacket, had brownish-yellow hair, and a sparse beard. He looked to be in his fifties. He was the top assassin "Cross" from the movie.
"Are you going to kill me too?" Lu Tai asked, staring at Cross.
Cross shook his head, then put away his gun and ran out of the street. Lu Tai quickly followed, shouting, "Don't go, I have something to tell you..."
Cross suddenly stopped, turned around, and pointed his gun at Lu Tai again. "I'll handle my own affairs."
"You'll be killed," Lu Tai said.
"That's fate! Don't follow me anymore." Cross turned and left. Lu Tai shook his head and didn't chase after him.
He thought for a moment, then ran back to Casey's house. When he returned, Wesley and Fox were gone. In the blink of an eye, they had disappeared, and even the two bodies on the ground were gone, leaving only some cut ropes.
"Casey, Casey...."
Lu Tai rushed into Casey's bedroom. In the corner, Casey was curled up, trembling and sobbing. Lu Tai walked over, pulled her up, patted her shoulder, and said, "It's over, don't be afraid, it's over."
"Sniff!!" Casey hugged Lu Tai and burst into tears. Lu Tai quickly raised his hands and said, "Oh... don't, don't, OK?"
Casey cried for a while, then slowly let go of Lu Tai and looked at him, saying, "You... you're okay?"
Lu Tai nodded, moved his body, and lightly pounded his lower back, saying, "Where did they go?"
Casey shook her head and said, "I don't know. I didn't dare to go out. I just heard a lot of footsteps outside. Someone must have rescued them."
Lu Tai nodded and walked to the living room, thinking for a moment. Casey slowly followed.
"I can't stay here," Lu Tai said.
"Then... where are you going?" Casey asked.
Lu Tai didn't answer Casey's question but said to her, "Don't worry, they were after me. After I leave, you'll be safe."
With that, he put his hands in his pockets, turned around, and left Casey's house...
