Chapter 49

Yimir glanced at Spider-Man, feeling somewhat hesitant. If he were to go with him to find Dr. Connors, he would inevitably have to reveal himself... But he didn't want to expose his identity to others. This was a very troubling issue.
"Don't worry, if you don't want to show your true face, I can lend you a mask."
Spider-Man rummaged in his suit and somehow produced a spare mask. Yimir was immediately impressed; no wonder Spider-Man's mask never seemed to be damaged in fights. This guy must always carry more than one spare mask.
"Alright..." Yimir beckoned, and a gust of wind swirled, lifting the mask into his hand.
Spider-Man's eyes widened as he saw the mask float up and then disappear into Yimir's hand.
It seemed that Yimir's ability not only allowed him to become invisible but also to make any items he touched disappear if he so wished. This was truly an impressive ability.
Having accepted Spider-Man's kindness, Yimir felt it would be rude not to reciprocate, so he asked, "Hey, Spider, do you have any problems dealing with Kingpin?"
Spider-Man shrugged and said, "I'm not the only one fighting Kingpin. Just from what I know, there are at least three superheroes currently battling him. I'm not fighting alone."
Situations like today, where he was surrounded by super-criminals, didn't happen often. At least, Spider-Man didn't want to face so many villains alone again.
Yimir was slightly surprised. At least three?
Seeing Yimir's silence, Spider-Man began to count on his fingers, "There's one at the port, one in Hell's Kitchen, and the X-Men. These are just the ones I've seen. I don't know if there are other superheroes secretly fighting Kingpin."
Hell's Kitchen, of course, was Daredevil Murdoch; and the one who most often dealt with criminals was probably Punisher Frank Castle.
As for the X-Men...
Yimir now felt a bit sympathetic towards Kingpin. To face so many superheroes and still have the nerve to target Spider-Man was quite something. But thinking about it, Spider-Man, who was always active on the streets of New York, especially in Manhattan, must have disrupted Kingpin's criminal plans many times.
No wonder Kingpin considered these superheroes his biggest thorns and was eager to eliminate them.
Spider-Man suddenly paused, surprised, and asked, "Wraith, do you mean you want to help me fight Kingpin?"
Yimir had this intention. Not many people knew about his and Daredevil's takedown of Red Skull, but Old Babu's disappearance from his home couldn't have been hidden from Fisk, let alone Kingpin.
Even if Yimir didn't seek trouble with Kingpin, Kingpin probably wouldn't let him off easily. But after hearing Spider-Man's account, it seemed Kingpin was already overwhelmed and might not have the energy to deal with him.
To be safe, it would be best to team up with Spider-Man. So Yimir replied, "If I encounter Kingpin's men, I might take action."
This ambiguous answer surprised Spider-Man.
In his view, no one was born a hero. They had to grow and gradually experience the joy of being a superhero before truly striving to protect peace.
Spider-Man agreed to keep Yimir's secret for now, not letting others know of his existence. As for joining the superheroes, Yimir was not very enthusiastic about it.
First, the Marvel world was too complex. Becoming a superhero meant he might encounter an enemy who could counter his abilities. Yimir didn't think his current half-developed powers were enough to let him act without restraint.
Second, his mindset hadn't changed. He still had the mentality of a shut-in from his previous life. In his mind, super-criminals and the end of the world were too far away. If real villains appeared, the police would handle it; there was no need for him to get involved.
Lastly, Yimir was worried that becoming a superhero would interfere with his normal life. In his memory, his sister was an ordinary person, and he didn't want to involve his family, fearing the potential retaliation.
It was better to be low-key. Even though he had become a ghost, Yimir still lacked self-awareness. As for other matters, they were too distant, and he didn't want to bother with them.
Checking the time, Spider-Man had to go with Felicia to the opening ceremony of the new science center, and Yimir felt he should hurry home to avoid worrying his sister.
So, after watching Spider-Man retrieve his suit wrapped in webbing, the ghost and the human parted ways.
Yimir found that his sense of time had become more precise since he became a ghost.

He fumbled around, helping his sister prepare dinner, but his cooking skills from his previous life were of no use in this Western country, and he ended up causing more trouble than help.
However, Kathleen didn't mind at all. Instead, she was pleasantly surprised to see her brother finally putting down his books and engaging in life.
As for Yimir's clumsiness, Kathleen didn't see it as a problem. After all, Yimir's body, when alive, was a complete bookworm, ignoring everything except his studies. Any progress was already a significant achievement.
Sitting at the dining table, Yimir and Kathleen chatted casually, with Kathleen doing most of the talking and Yimir listening. He found his day quite surreal, from the Saint Knight's library to Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus. Yimir was worried that telling her about these experiences would shock Kathleen.
His brows furrowed with worry, unsure how to bring up his desire to accompany her to the opening ceremony of the new science center. It wasn't for any other reason, but he was concerned that Peter Parker might harm his sister.
Although he had learned that Peter's character was different from what he had imagined after meeting Spider-Man, in this world that diverged from the movies, who knew what might happen?
With Felicia and Mary Jane, Peter already had his share of good fortune. Yimir didn't want to involve his sister in this. Fortunately, before Yimir could worry too much, Kathleen suggested, "By the way, are you free tonight? My former classmate invited me to an opening gala. Why don't you come with me?"
