Chapter 97

Jihwan was working when he saw a call coming on his personal cell phone. He didn’t recognize the number, but there weren’t many people who knew his cell phone number. So Jihwan answered it.

“This is Kwon Jihwan.”

-Hello. This is Kim Seyeon.

A woman spoke, but Jihwan didn’t recognize the name. He replied, “I think you got the wrong number. I’m hanging up now.”

-Wait! I’m Kang Eunseo’s sister Kim Seyeon! Don’t you remember?

Jihwan finally recognized her name. “Ah, yes.”

He almost called her the “mean sister”. Because to Jihwan, Eunseo was Cinderella and Seyeon was the evil stepsister.

He asked, “Why are you calling me, Miss Kim?”

Jihwan regretted giving Seyeon his phone number, but it was too late. In his defense, he didn’t know Seyeon wasn’t related to Eunseo when he gave her his number. He also didn’t know she was the mean sister.

Jihwan continued, “If you have something to say to Miss Kang, I told you to talk through my lawyer, didn’t I?”

-I have something to tell you, not Kang Eunseo.

“I have nothing I want to hear from you, Miss Kim.”

-If you don’t hear it, you’ll regret it. I’m at the cafe next to Korean Constructions headquarters right now. I won’t take up too much of your time.

Jihwan couldn’t believe Seyeon actually came all the way here. He decided that he should at least hear her out. “Fine, I’ll give you ten minutes, but that’s it.”

Jihwan left his office and went to the cafe. Just as she said, Seyeon was sitting there. As soon as he sat down across from her, Jihwan asked, “What do you want?”

Seyeon didn’t beat around the bush either. “I was wondering if you knew about Kang Eunseo’s illness. Are you dating her knowing everything about her?”

Jihwan smirked. “Did you call me all the way here just to tell me that?”

“So you know? That she has milk coming out of her?”

“Of course I do.” As a matter of fact, he not only knew about it but he loved it. Jihwan wanted to tell Seyeon this, but there were people around them, so he kept quiet.

Seyeon didn’t seem to be disappointed. She asked, “Then do you also know that she can’t have children either?”

Jihwan flinched. “What did you just say?”

“I knew it. She didn’t tell you about it, did she?” Seyeon looked gleeful. “Her illness makes her barren. Kang Eunseo doesn’t even get periods, so she can never have children.”

Jihwan suddenly realized that this was true. They have spent so much time doing sexy things every day, yet Eunseo has never complained about having cramps or any discomfort.

Just then, he felt Seyeon looking at him. Jihwan quickly put on a blank expression and hid his confusion. He asked, “So what?”

“I’m sure you aren’t thinking about marrying Kang Eunseo or anything, but I’m still telling you this so you wouldn’t be fooled by her. She lied to you, didn’t she? I can tell that you had no idea.”

Jihwan explained to her slowly, “You’re wrong. I am with her because I want to marry her.”

“You’re going to marry a barren woman? A woman who can’t have babies?”

“What is that a problem? There are plenty of couples nowadays who choose not to have babies on purpose,” Jihwan replied.

Seyeon leaned toward him. Her eyes glowing, she argued, “I searched you on the internet and I read that you’re the only male heir to the company. So are you sure this is okay? If you don’t have any children, your bloodline will end. I’m sure that can’t be okay with your family.”

Jihwan sniggered and replied, “Are you thinking that my family will be against this? That they will try to stop Miss Kang from marrying me? Or maybe you’re thinking they’ll offer her money to leave me. Is that it?”

It seemed that Jihwan’s guess was correct because Seyeon looked confused.

Jihwan shrugged and continued, “You got it all wrong, Miss Kim. My family doesn’t care about things like that. My grandfather and my parents raised me and my sister equally. It didn’t matter to them which one of us inherited the company. My sister happened to not want it, which is the only reason why I took over.”

Seyeon thought she could ruin Eunseo’s life. But she was beginning to realize that she made a mistake.

Jihwan watched her with a smile and added, “My sister is already married and she even has a kid. She is planning to have more too. So one of her children can inherit the company. I’m pretty sure that’s my grandfather’s plan too.”

Seyeon glared at him angrily. Jihwan took a sip of his coffee and continued, “I can see that you want to hurt Miss Kang, but I’m warning you now. Every time you do something like this, I’m going to make sure you lose something big. You’re going to regret this.”

Jihwan put down his cup and warned her, “For what you did today, I’m going to have to hurt you very badly. Wait for it, and you’ll know what I mean.”

Seyeon shuddered. “You said you were going to take our house away, so what more can you do to me?”

Jihwan replied coldly, “I’m not taking away your house. I’m only returning what is rightfully Miss Kang’s. You should go home now and wait for your punishment.”

Jihwan stood up and left. He didn’t even pay for the coffee. The mean sister will have to pay because she deserved it.
