Chapter 98

After leaving Seyeon, Jihwan returned to his office. He was still shocked by the news that Kang Eunseo couldn’t have children. Suddenly, he remembered how Eunseo refused Seo Hyunwoo and cried so hard afterward. Did she reject Seo Hyunwoo all because of this?

Being barren didn’t mean she couldn’t date either, but Kang Eunseo was an old-fashioned woman. Jihwan could understand why she felt like she shouldn’t be in any romantic relationship.

Jihwan tried to think how Kang Eunseo must have felt. She seemed to be embarrassed by her illness, and she couldn’t have children either. So when the man she was in love with asked her out, she felt like she had to say no. It all made sense now.

Although Jihwan told Seyeon that he didn’t care about this, it wasn’t as simple as that. Of course, Jihwan personally didn’t care at all. If he could have Kang Eunseo by his side, not having children wasn’t a big deal.

The problem was his grandfather and his mother. No parents would like to have their son marry a barren woman. Jihwan knew they would never be outright rude to Eunseo, but he also knew they wouldn’t be happy about him marrying her either.

Of course, Jihwan could always marry Eunseo without telling his parents the truth. But Eunseo was an honest woman, and he knew she would never agree to lie like this.

Just then, Jihwan realized he was being ridiculous. Why was he worrying about marriage and having kids when Kang Eunseo wasn’t even interested in her?

This problem was something he’ll have to face later. Jihwan would deal with it after he won Eunseo’s heart.

Jihwan called for his secretary. “I’m thinking about expanding my business.”

“Pardon?”

Jihwan grinned. “Let’s open a fruit store.”

After the shocking dinner with the chairman, Eunseo couldn’t focus on her work. She still had no idea how the chairman found out about her and Jihwan. And even more shocking was the fact that the chairman treated her like she was already his granddaughter-in-law.

When she returned home, she took out the content of the envelope. It was a single cheque, and when she counted the number of zeros, she felt dizzy. It was 100,000 dollars.

Although Chairman Kwon said the bonus was from the company, Eunseo knew better. It had to be from the chairman himself, which meant that she couldn’t even return it to the company. Eunseo put it safely in the drawer and became worried.

The biggest problem was that there really was nothing going on between Eunseo and Jihwan. They were never going to be married, and they weren’t even sex partners because they weren’t sleeping together.

It was a huge coincidence that Eunseo happened to satisfy Jihwan’s strange fetish. And it was very possible that his taste might change at any time. So Chairman Kwon had it all wrong.

Eunseo was in love with Jihwan, but Jihwan wasn’t interested in her. So Eunseo didn’t think Jihwan would have told his grandfather about her. So this meant that the chairman heard about her from someone else.

But who? Was there some kind of a rumor about her and Jihwan? Did other people know too? Was this why the other designers in the department were avoiding her?

So many thoughts crossed her mind, and Eunseo didn’t feel like seeing Jihwan. She was also uncomfortable going to his office because she felt like other people were watching her. Perhaps they thought it was strange that she visited their boss’s office every day.

So Eunseo texted Jihwan.

[Mr. Kwon, I will take care of myself on my own for a while, so please don’t wait for me.]

Jihwan was shocked to see her message. He texted her back immediately.

[Why? Are you not feeling well?]

[No, I live close to work now, so I did it at home during lunch time. So you don’t have to worry about me anymore.]

After sending the last message, Eunseo turned off her cell phone.

Just then, Hong Yeri gave her a mean look and asked, “Miss Kang, I heard you had dinner with someone from the headquarters yesterday. Is that true? Did you get the bonus?”

Eunseo suspected the money was actually from the chairman, but she couldn’t let other people know. So she replied quietly, “I did.”

“How much did you get?”

Eunseo also couldn’t tell people she got 100,000 dollars, so she answered, “They gave me a lot more than I expected.”

“Then you better buy all of us dinner. After all, we all worked together, and you didn’t succeed on your own. Isn’t that right, Miss Kang?” Hong Yeri asked.

The other designers nodded. “Miss Hong is right! We all worked hard on this project. So Miss Kang, you should buy us something nice.”

If Eunseo received a normal bonus, she certainly would have spent the money to buy dinner for everyone. But the cheque she got was too huge, so Eunseo could never cash it.

However, Eunseo replied quickly, “Of course. Please tell me what you want to eat. It’s on me.”
