Seyeon’s rude questions made Jihwan feel tired.
But Seyeon obviously didn’t notice his expression. She exclaimed, “Wow, so you’re a really super rich person! I’ve never seen a rich person before.”
Jihwan replied humbly, “That’s my grandfather’s company. My own company isn’t very big yet.”
Eunseo’s home wasn’t very big, so she should have been able to hear their conversation. It has been almost 30 minutes, yet Eunseo was still not making an appearance.
“I think I should check on her,” Jihwan announced. He stood up because he was beginning to be worried about Eunseo. He also felt very uncomfortable around Seyeon.
Jihwan knocked on Eunseo’s door. “Miss Kang? This is Kwon Jihwan. Are you sleeping?”
There was no answer.
“I’m coming in. Please excuse me.”
The moment he opened the door, Jihwan was greeted by icy cold air. The living room was almost too hot, but Eunseo’s room was freezing.
Why was her room so cold like this?
And when Jihwan entered, he was shocked.
It was a tiny room, yet it was filled with all kinds of boxes and stuff. The boxes piled up to the ceiling, and he saw many plastic bags of things he didn’t recognize. There was barely any room for him to walk, and in the far corner, he saw a woman crouched in a tiny bed. She was wearing a coat and wrapped in a blanket like shrimp.
“Miss Kang?” Jihwan got closer to her and asked, but Eunseo didn’t move at all. Feeling scared, he shook her shoulder.
“Hello? Miss Kang? Please open your eyes!”
When Jihwan shook her shoulders a few more times, Eunseo finally managed to open her eyes.
“…Mr. Kwon?”
Eunseo’s pale face showed confusion and surprise. Jihwan sighed in relief, thankful that she was still alive.
He asked, “I heard you’re sick. Is it really bad?”
“…Yes.”
Jihwan knew that Eunseo was the type of woman who would tough out most pain. So the fact that she admitted she was in pain meant her condition was serious. When Jihwan touched her forehead, he jumped.
She was burning up.
“Is it mastitis again?” asked Jihwan.
“No, I think I have the flu.”
Jihwan lifted Eunseo quickly and announced, “You’re coming with me now.”
“Mr. Kwon…?”
Eunseo was shocked, so she protested a little. But Jihwan ignored her. He was not going to let her stay in a place like this for one more minute.
When Jihwan walked out of Eunseo’s room with her in his arms, Seyeon looked shocked too. She ran toward them and asked, “I think Eunseo’s sick, so where are you taking her?”
Jihwan glared at Seyeon’s short-sleeved shirt. Kang Eunseo was in her room wearing her winter coat because she was freezing, yet this woman who was supposed to be her sister was in the living room in summer clothes.
Jihwan replied coldly, “She would be better off going anywhere but here.”
“W…what?” Seyeon looked shocked. But ignoring her, Jihwan carried Eunseo out. He put on his shoes, but he didn’t bother taking Eunseo’s shoes. He would just buy her several pairs later. He was planning on doing this anyway.
“You’ll be fine, Miss Kang. Just bear with me. I’ll take you to the hospital right now,” Jihwan reassured her.
When they were outside, Eunseo shivered from the cold. Jihwan didn’t know what to do. He tried to take her to his car as quickly as possible.
As he walked down the stairs, Jihwan hugged her even tighter. It was then that Eunseo whispered, “Are you okay, Mr. Kwon?”
“Hmm? What do you mean?”
“You were so busy lately, so…”
Jihwan couldn’t believe Eunseo was worried about her when she was practically dying here. He felt like crying, so he gritted his teeth.
Just what was wrong with this woman?
She was so beautiful, and Jihwan felt his heart ache painfully. Overwhelming emotions engulfed him, and he almost found it hard to breathe.
Trying to hide his emotions, Jihwan said to her bluntly, “I’m fine, so you should be more worried about yourself.”
As he carried her down the stairs, Jihwan promised himself.
No matter what happens, he was never going to let this woman return to this house.

When Eunseo opened her eyes, she saw an IV in her arm and she was in a bed.
“Did you sleep well?” a man’s voice asked.
Eunseo turned her head to see Kwon Jihwan, who looked worried, relieved, and angry.
“So it was really you, Mr. Kwon,” Eunseo murmured.
She woke up a few times while she was unconscious, and she felt like she could hear Kwon Jihwan’s voice. At the time, she thought she was just hallucinating.
Even when Jihwan came to carry her out of her home, Eunseo thought she was just dreaming. It just didn’t make sense that her boss would come all the way to her home to help her.
…But it turned out that it wasn’t a dream.
