Eunseo sat up. She felt dizzy, but overall, she was much better.

It looked like she was in the hospital, but she wasn’t wearing the patient uniform. She was still wearing her own clothes.

When she seemed confused, Jihwan explained, “They put an IV to give you some fluid and nutrition. The doctor is going to check on you later to see if you really need to go to the hospital.”

“Umm, I’m fine now. I need to get home, and I need my breast pump too…”

“If you need a breast pump, I’ll buy you one, so don’t worry. Just lie down and rest, Miss Kang.”

Eunseo was becoming dizzier, so she wanted to lie down just as Jihwan suggested. But she was in front of her boss. She needed to stay as alert as possible.

Eunseo shook her head and replied, “I’m fine.”

Kwon Jihwan sighed and walked closer to her. “You really need to lie down and rest, Miss Kang.”

Jihwan gently but firmly pushed her down. As he did, his long sleeve moved up, showing the leather and silver bracelet. Eunseo stared, thinking Secretary Shin had kept his promise and delivered her gift.

She felt happy.

Noticing Eunseo staring at the bracelet, Jihwan said to her, “Oh, this?”

He showed off the bracelet to her and explained, “I got this as a gift from Secretary Shin yesterday.”

“Ah, I see. It looks very nice on you,” Eunseo replied. She wanted to ask him if he liked it, but she couldn’t.

But as if Jihwan could read her mind, he studied the bracelet and murmured, “I guess Secretary Shin knows my taste very well. I have been wanting something like this for a long time.”

Eunseo blushed in pleasure. She was so relieved that he liked her gift.

A moment later, the nurse walked in. She measured Eunseo’s temperature and announced, “Your fever is gone now.”

Eunseo asked, “Then can I go home now?”

“The doctor is going to be here soon, so please wait.”

After the nurse left, Jihwan seemed upset. He said the Eunseo, “Why would you want to hurry and get home? You’re already here, so you might as well rest here for a few days.”

Eunseo shook her head. “I’m really okay now, Mr. Kwon. And it will be hard to pump my breast on time if I’m in a hospital.”

She didn’t see the point of staying in the hospital just from the cold. And most of all, Eunseo was worried about the hospital bill. She spent all of her spare money on buying Jihwan’s bracelet, so if she wastes any more money, she won’t be able to pay the deposit for her new apartment.

Eunseo insisted, “Anyway, I don’t want to be hospitalized. I don’t want to stay here.”

When she refused stubbornly, Jihwan sighed in the end. “Alright. Then let’s go to my house, Miss Kang.”

“Pardon?”

“I’m telling you to spend the weekend at my house to rest. If you go back to that frozen room of yours, you’re going to get sick all over again.” Jihwan looked angry.

Eunseo realized that he must have seen everything. She felt so embarrassed.

Jihwan asked, “Why didn’t you tell me before?”

“Tell you what?”

“Then you’re being treated like Cinderella by your stepmother and stepsister. That’s what’s happening, right? You’re being mistreated.”

Eunseo couldn’t help but laugh a little. How could he say something so ridiculous like that?

Jihwan seemed even more upset.

Just then, the doctor walked in. He said to her, “You’re already underweight, so I hope you aren’t on a diet. You can’t. You don’t have to stay in this hospital, but when you return home, you better eat all three meals every day. Most of all, you need to eat a lot of meat for protein. Do you understand?”

Jihwan could tell how hesitant and uncomfortable Eunseo looked. When the doctor left, he demanded to know.

“Miss Kang, how many meals do you eat per day? You better tell me the truth.”

“I don’t eat breakfast, so… Two meals a day.”

“You’re lying. I guess you eat lunch since the company provides it, but I doubt you eat a proper meal for dinner,” Jihwan muttered angrily.

“But I don’t starve myself. I make sure I eat something.”

“Eat what?”

She knew Jihwan would get angry if he knew the truth. But she also felt wrong lying to him. He seemed to know her better than she expected, so Eunseo suspected he would know if she was lying.

She hesitated before whispered, “Like cup noodles or a sandwich…”

Jihwan closed his eyes, trying to keep calm and patient. He had expected such an answer, but actually hearing it didn’t make him feel any better. He was becoming more and more upset.

Eunseo could tell that he was making an effort not to get angrier.

Suddenly, he stood up and ordered, “We’re going now.”
