Because Eunseo didn’t have her shoes with her, Jihwan had to carry her. He didn’t seem to mind at all. Even though the doctor and the other nurses stared, he refused to let Eunseo step on the ground.
“What if a rumor starts about us?” Eunseo asked in worry. She saw that Jihwan’s apartment doorman stared at them.
“This isn’t the time for you to be worried about other people. You should be concentrating on taking care of your health, Miss Kang,” Jihwan replied.
And just like that, Eunseo entered Jihwan’s apartment.
It was a giant penthouse with a private elevator. Jihwan’s place included two floors, and one entire wall was a window overlooking the beautiful city.
It was an extravagant and luxurious place, but it didn’t surprise Eunseo. She has seen plenty of luxurious designs while working at DH, so she was used to it.
The first thing she noticed was the interior design of Jihwan’s place. She was a designer after all.
Jihwan’s whole place had a very classic European feel. It was elegant, but it didn’t feel like a place a 30-something bachelor would live. Even the giant chandelier and the paintings on the wall seemed to be picked out by someone much older.
Eunseo asked, “Did you pick the design here, Mr. Kwon?”
“No, this used to belong to my grandfather. When he left, I began living here. I didn’t change anything.”
“Ahh…” Realizing that this was the chairman’s place made Eunseo feel even more nervous.
Eunseo pictured Jihwan’s grandfather, who was the chairman of the Korean Constructions. His name was Kwon Junghyun, and she has seen his face on TV.
Eunseo saw the white grand piano in the living and asked, “Then is that your grandfather’s too?”
But it seemed that Jihwan didn’t hear her question because he walked to the kitchen and asked, “Do you think you can eat some rice soup?”
It was then that Eunseo finally realized she was hungry. Because she was so sick, she hasn’t eaten anything since yesterday.
“I’ve never cooked before, so don’t judge me. It probably won’t taste good, but it will be nutritious, so you need to eat it,” Jihwan ordered.
When he put on an apron, Eunseo shook her head and insisted, “No, I’ll do it, Mr. Kwon!”
“It’s fine, so just go sit on the sofa and rest. You’re the patient, so don’t bother arguing.”
But she was in her boss’s home. She was the newbie in his company, so there was no way she could rest while her boss cooked something for her in the kitchen.
“I’m really fine now,” Eunseo argued.
Kwon Jihwan sighed, and clearly annoyed, he lifted Eunseo and carried her to the sofa himself. He sat her down on it and growled, “If you leave this sofa, I’m going to decrease your salary by 30%.”
This was the scariest thing Eunseo has ever heard. In the end, she replied, “…Yes, Sir.”
Jihwan returned to the kitchen. As she watched him walk away, she wondered, ‘ Is he not angry anymore?’
Just a few days ago, he seemed so cold to her. But today, he visited her home and took her to the hospital.
And now, Jihwan brought her to his own home and was cooking for her.
Eunseo couldn’t understand him. Was it always so hard to know what your crush was thinking? Or was Kwon Jihwan just a strange man?
After 30 minutes, Jihwan brought her a bowl of rice soup. It was steaming, and it was in a clean elegant white bowl. There was a smaller bowl with a little bit of soy sauce as well.
“I looked up a recipe online and tried it. I’m not sure how it will taste,” Kwon Jihwan explained.
But didn’t white rice soup just involve boiling rice? Eunseo pondered but didn’t say this out loud. She assumed that Jihwan has never cooked before.
She murmured, “Thank you for the meal.”
Jihwan’s eyes sparked with anticipation as Eunseo got a spoonful into her mouth. He seemed to be dying to know what she thought about his cooking.
It was obvious Jihwan would have never cooked for anyone before. Eunseo felt so touched, and the soup was shockingly delicious.
“It’s really good, Mr. Kwon.”
Jihwan finally looked relieved.
Eating little by little, Eunseo asked more questions she had been curious about.
“By the way, why did you come to my house, Mr. Kwon?”
Instead of answering her, Jihwan asked her a question, “Did you by chance get a call from the Ilsung company a few days ago when you were filling in for Secretary Shin? About the meeting time?”
Eunseo tried to remember. She felt like she might have answered a call like that, but she couldn’t remember.
“I don’t know. But wrote down notes about every call and gave them to Secretary Shin,” Eunseo answered.
“Oh, it’s just that Secretary Shin said he never got any message.”
Eunseo’s heart fell. She put down her spoon nervously.
Did she make a huge mistake?
