Not too long ago, there was a memo that was sent from the headquarters asking the designers to try using as many Korean Constructions’ materials as possible. After all, DH still was a subsidiary of Korean Constructions.

But DH CEO Kwon Jihwan had ordered his designers to don’t worry about this memo. This was why all the designers haven’t really paid much attention to it.

Hong Yeri continued, “Our boss told us to ignore that memo, right? So are you doing this so you look good to the headquarters? Because by doing this, you’re making us all look bad. And now, we’ll feel like we have to use the materials from the headquarters too. Haven’t you ever considered how this might make us feel?”

Eunseo was surprised by Yeri’s aggressive tone. She tried to remember if she had ever offended Yeri before, but Eunseo couldn’t think of anything. All they did was greet each other in the morning. They have never even talked to each other before.

If Heesun was here, she would’ve defended Eunseo, but unfortunately, Heesun had a doctor’s appointment.

The atmosphere in the room chilled suddenly. One of the senior designers tried to lighten the mood by joking, but it only made things worse. Everyone looked back and forth at Eunseo and Hong Yeri without saying a word.

In the end, it was Seo Hyunwoo who broke the silence.

“I believe that you should look for luxury in the actual design and not from the price.”

He continued calmly, “It doesn’t matter what material was used. What’s important is how it looks and how the space was utilized. What we need to decide is whether Kang Eunseo’s design fits our overall concept. And does it look good? For me, I’m very happy with her work.”

Seo Hyunwoo was a high-level designer in the team, right below the chief designer. Therefore, his opinion mattered a great deal. One by one, the other designers began agreeing.

“I like Kang Eunseo’s design too.”

“Me too.”

“So do I. Boss told us we shouldn’t worry about that memo, but he didn’t say we should avoid using the materials from Korean Constructions.”

In the end, most people seemed to agree that Eunseo’s design was acceptable. The team leader announced.

“Okay, I think we have a consensus. We will accept Kang Eunseo’s design, but I do see the point Hong Yeri is trying to make. So let’s see if we can use different furniture for this design, okay? Eunseo, could you make some changes here? And afterward, we can talk about it next week. Is that acceptable to you?”

Korean Constursctions didn’t manufacture much furniture anyway. Most Eunseo chose were from different companies, so this wasn’t going to be a problem at all. It seemed like the team leader was trying to appease Hong Yeri, knowing full well that Eunseo wouldn’t actually have to make many changes.

Eunseo felt incredibly thankful and relieved. She replied, “Yes, of course.”

After the meeting, the designers left one by one. As the newest designer, Eunseo stayed behind to clean up. It was then that she heard Seo Hyunwoo’s voice.

“Good job.”

Eunseo turned around and bowed quickly. She replied, “Thank you for helping me, Mr. Seo.”

She only meant to thank him from her heart, but she realized that she was making it sound like he took her side. As a matter of fact, he has done something similar before. Eunseo knew she should try not to make their relationship sound special.

Seo Hyunwoo explained gently, “I wasn’t trying to help.”

“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it like that…”

“No need to apologize. I just liked your design, Eunseo. And everyone liked it too, which is why you passed.”

His kind words made her want to cry. Why was this man so nice? Especially after how cold she was toward him… He confessed his love for her, and she was so cruel to him. How could anyone be so gentle and understanding? Eunseo just couldn’t understand. She felt like the worst person in the world.

But she knew crying in front of the man she refused was a bad idea. That would be such a cruel thing to do. So putting on a rigid expression, she thanked him.

“Thank you again. I need to clean up a little bit more here.”

It was clear she was asking him to leave. Seo Hyunwoo looked a little disappointed when he replied, “Alright. See you later.”

He bowed lightly and left the meeting room.

Eunseo felt her heart ache badly, but she shook her head. This was a good day for her. She did very well. She told herself that she should celebrate.

Today wasn’t her payday, but she felt like she deserved to go to her favorite restaurant. Her favorite dish was curry and fried shrimp.

Eunseo kept telling herself not to cry.
