Chapter 70.
Eunseo seemed very confident as she said to Jihwan.
“My life has gotten so much better. It turned out okay. I studied hard to graduate from a good university and I got into a great company DH. I’m getting better at my job, and I will soon have my own place to live.”
Eunseo touched her coffee cup for a moment before adding, “I don’t think I have a bad life, Mr. Kwon.”
She seemed so certain of it.
Jihwan was born very rich. And most of his close acquaintances were like him. They were born into wealthy families. Yet it was so rare to find people who were thankful for their lives. In fact, most of Jihwan’s friends were very unhappy. They felt pressured by their families to do certain things, and some wished that they were even richer. There were also plenty of people who became addicted to drugs and gambling because they were too rich.
Jihwan had never met someone like Eunseo. Even Jihwan himself didn’t have the same optimistic attitude as her.
He became ashamed of himself. For the past few years, he lived like his life was over just because he had to give up music. But now, he realized that he had been silly. He could still have music in his life.
And now, there was a woman who seemed to enjoy his piano.
Jihwan believed Eunseo deserved a much better life. And he wished that he could be part of her life. But because he couldn’t voice his real thoughts, Jihwan told her instead.
“Miss Kang, you’re a very strong woman.”
It was a simple compliment, but a bright smile appeared on Eunseo’s face as if she received a precious gift.

Jihwan drove Eunseo home.
“Thank you for driving me home, Mr. Kwon. I will see you at work tomorrow.”
Eunseo was about to turn around when Jihwan called out to her.
“Wait.”
He quickly opened the car trunk and announced, “You need to take these.”
The trunk was filled with gift boxes. Eunseo was shocked, realizing that they were the same gifts that were sitting under the Christmas tree in Jihwan’s living room.
When did he get the time to get all of them to his trunk?
Eunseo shook her head. “Mr. Kwon, I can’t do that. These are gifts for you.”
“But I’m telling you I don’t need them.”
“I don’t need them either.” Eunseo continued to say no. She opened the smallest box and there was an expensive watch in it. She couldn’t even imagine what must be in the bigger boxes.
In the end, Jihwan sighed and told her the truth. “I’ll be honest. I bought them for you, Miss Kang.”
“Pardon?”
“Even the watch you’re wearing right now… It’s a woman’s watch. Did you really not know?”
Eunseo jumped and looked down at her wrist. She just thought it was a smaller watch with the same design as Jihwan’s own. But now that she thought about it, it did look like a woman’s watch.
Eunseo mumbled in confusion, “I didn’t know. Umm… But why did you buy all these things…?”
“Because you gave me this, Miss Kang.” Jihwan raised his wrist with the bracelet.
Eunseo was surprised. “You knew?”
“Of course. Do I look that slow to you?”
Eunseo blushed shyly. She tried to explain, “It didn’t mean anything. You have been helping me so much, Mr. Kwon, that I wanted to show you my appreciation…”
She was giving him a silly excuse, but Jihwan didn’t argue with her. He replied, “And I’m doing the same thing. I don’t mean anything by these gifts. I don’t like to be indebted to anyone, so that’s the only reason why I bought them.”
Thinking that perhaps Jihwan misunderstood the price of the bracelet she gave him, Eunseo said hesitantly, “But Mr. Kwon, that bracelet didn’t cost me much.”
Kwon Jihwan gave her a shocked expression. “What? Miss Kang, do you judge a gift by its price?”
Eunseo jolted. “Of course not! I didn’t mean it like that!”
“Then it’s perfect. You gave me a gift, so I’m giving you a gift back. It’s that simple, isn’t it, Miss Kang?”
Eunseo didn’t think it was simple, but Jihwan was already unloading the gifts. He said to her, “I picked all of them myself, so please be understanding even if you don’t like them.”
There were so many of them. There was a huge pile by the time he was done unloading them. He placed them in front of her house door.
Jihwan announced, “Now then. Have a merry Christmas, Miss Kang.”
“….Merry Christmas, Mr. Kwon.”
Eunseo has never received so many gifts in her life. The man who gave her so much walked down the stairs, and Eunseo was sad that the best Christmas of her life was over.
