Chapter 71

Heesun’s eyes widened when she saw Eunseo arriving at her.

Heesun exclaimed, “Wow, that’s a great coat!”

Eunseo sighed secretly. She now had an expensive watch, bags, and coats. This morning, she picked the least expensive looking coat and wore it, but it turned out that everyone recognized it as something expensive.

Eunseo asked, “This is an expensive coat too?”

“I think it’s about 7000 dollars.”

When Heesun replied, Eunseo closed her eyes. She actually had several of this same coat in different colors, and she couldn’t believe it.

Yesterday, she went through the boxes of gifts Kwon Jihwan gave her. The things inside these boxes were the items she had seen in the department store but never dared to buy. There were coats and bags, and she knew some of the brands but not all of them.

Eunseo expected not to like some of them, but this wasn’t a problem. She liked every single one of them.

Heesun whispered, “Did you get this after giving that bracelet?”

“I guess…,” Eunseo replied hesitantly.

Heesun seemed impressed. “Wow, that’s amazing. You gave a 1000 dollar gift, and you got a 7000 dollar gift back. He’s definitely a good man, Eunseo. You better hang onto him.”

Eunseo protested, “But we aren’t dating. It’s not like that.”

“You’re saying that again. Come on, Eunseo. If he wasn’t your boyfriend, why would he give you a gift like this?”

“Probably because he’s super rich,” Eunseo answered.

Jihwan had explained to her that the countless gifts he gave her was as a repayment for her bracelet. Eunseo couldn’t understand his logic, but then she realized that Jihwan was so much richer than her. Considering the difference in their wealth, perhaps all the gifts he bought her were worth an equivalent amount of money to the 1000-dollar bracelet to her.

But it seemed that Heesun didn’t believe this. She insisted, “Oh my, what are you talking about? People with money are much stingier than us!”

“Really?”

“Totally. I’m telling you that he must love you if he gave you this coat.”

Eunseo smiled bitterly. If Kwon Jihwan was really in love with her, it was going to be a bigger problem. It was bad enough that Eunseo was in love with him. If Jihwan was really interested in her, Eunseo would have no choice but to end their strange relationship.

But Jihwan had reassured her that he wasn’t in love with her, and Eunseo believed him. If she didn’t, she wouldn’t have accepted all his gifts.

Heesun caressed Eunseo’s coat and murmured, “Gosh, look how beautiful this is. It’s so amazing. I better ask my husband to buy me this as a congratulatory gift.”

“Congratulations gift? Did something good happen, Heesun?” asked Eunseo.

“Well, maybe. Nothing has been confirmed yet.” Heesun smiled mysteriously.

Unlike last time when Eunseo brought her new bag, the other designers didn’t comment on her new coat today. She was glad of it, but she could still feel them glancing at her coat from time to time, which made her feel uncomfortable. She now knew that it was an expensive coat, but did they have to stare like that?

The team always had a weekly meeting on Monday morning. Eunseo went to the meeting room early to organize the paperwork and place the bottles of water and snacks on the desk when Seo Hyunwoo walked in.

“Hello, Eunseo.”

“Oh, hello, Hyunwoo.”

“Who were you with yesterday?” Hyunwoo asked. It was such a sudden and unexpected question that Eunseo became confused. They were like friends, but she didn’t think they were close enough to be asking such personal questions like this.

And Seo Hyunwoo looked upset, making Eunseo feel even more confused. Why was he looking at her like that?

Then suddenly, Eunseo remembered how Hyunwoo asked her to eat with him on Sunday. He said he was going to call her, didn’t he?

Eunseo had forgotten completely.

She apologized, “I’m really sorry. I forgot about our arrangement… Did you call me? I didn’t see any missed calls on my phone.”

Eunseo looked so apologetic. She couldn’t believe she had forgotten about this completely.

Seo Hyunwoo watched her for a second before sighing. He replied, “Don’t worry about it. I forgot too.”

“Really?” asked Eunseo.

“Yes, really. I was just worried that you might have been waiting for my call. I’m glad you forgot too.”

Just then, the other team members began walking in. Hyunwoo and Eunseo went to take a seat.

The meeting’s main topic was the upcoming magazine article. They needed to decide which design should be included, and Eunseo was also given a page to work on.

“Then I want everyone to submit their rough draft by next week,” the department head ordered.

Before the meeting was over, the team leader turned toward Eunseo. “Miss Kang, the headquarter wants to see you sometime soon.”

“Pardon?” Eunseo became scared. Why did the headquarter want to see her?
