Chapter 90

When the banging on the door continued, Seyeon swore, “Dammit! You’re going to break the door! Who is it?!”

When she opened the door, several large men stormed inside. Seyeon saw the man at the front of this group, and her eyes widened. She whispered, “Ummm… President Kwon?”

Eunseo was just as shocked as her stepsister. She knew Jihwan was coming since he told her he would, but she didn’t expect him to bring so many men with him.

Eunseo’s stepmother asked, “President? What president?”

Seyeon replied, “Gosh, I told you about him before! He’s the boss at DH!”

Eunseo’s stepmother and Seyeon looked at each other knowingly. Suddenly, Eunseo’s mother put on a fake smile and walked up to Jihwan. She said to him, “Oh my! You came at the worst time. We’re a bit busy right now. By the way, thank you so much for the fruits and gift basket you brought the last time! So I heard you’re Eunseo’s boss?”

Jihwan ignored Eunseo’s mother and looked at the shopping bags scattered on the floor. He clicked his tongue and muttered, “I told her not to say anything until I arrive…”

Turning toward Eunseo, Jihwan asked, “Are you okay, Miss Kang?”

“Yeah.” Eunseo nodded.

Pointing at the boxes on the floor, Jihwan ordered the men, “First, take those to the car. And don’t forget the boxes in that room either.”

“Yes, President.”

The burly men began carrying the boxes outside. Eunseo’s mother couldn’t stop these large men, so she began trying to convince Jihwan. “Please, President Kwon. I don’t know what your relationship is with our Eunseo, but you need to listen to me. I raised her since she was a small child even though I’m not even related to her at all. She’s my ex-husband’s daughter. And now, she’s abandoning us. Don’t you think she’s being cruel and unreasonable? Don’t you think she needs to show her appreciation…”

Jihwan slowly took out a white envelope. He replied to Eunseo’s mother, “Take this.”

The envelope looked thick, and Eunseo’s stepmother’s eyes glowed in excitement. Meanwhile, Eunseo couldn’t believe what she was seeing. She couldn’t take this anymore. Why should anyone pay her stepmother? Why should Jihwan? Eunseo was about to stop him when she realized that the envelope wasn’t filled with money.

Eunseo’s stepmother took out several pieces of paper and stammered, “Eviction lawsuit…? What is that? What does that mean?”

Jihwan crossed his arms and explained, “You’ll be getting the detailed report later, but I thought I should warn you now. I learned that this house actually belonged to Miss Kang Eunseo’s father. Isn’t that right?”

Eunseo’s mother turned red. But soon, she straightened her back and replied shamelessly, “It became mine after he died. So what?”

“But you divorced him before his death. That means that you have no right to inherit anything from him. Miss Kang Eunseo should have inherited this house, but you stole it from her.”

Eunseo couldn’t hide her shock. Her father went bankrupt, so Eunseo assumed the house was under her stepmother’s name. But it appeared that this belonged to her father. Her stepmother never told her about it.

Jihwan continued, “I think Miss Kang’s father wanted to keep this house safe for her daughter, so you shouldn’t have stolen it from her like this… Well, it doesn’t matter anymore. I’ll make things right now.”

Seyeon stuttered, “A…are you saying you’re going to take our house away?”

“It was never your home. It was Miss Kang’s house all along.” Jihwan looked around the small place and added, “I heard that this area is going to soon be re-developed, so this house is going to be worth a lot more. So I guess it’s too bad for you.”

It didn’t take the men to take out all the boxes. When it was done, Jihwan asked, “Is there anything else, Miss Kang?”

“No. I have nothing left here,” replied Eunseo.

Jihwan helped Eunseo put on her coat.

“Wait, you can’t do this! This isn’t fair! You’re stealing everything from us…!” Eunseo’s stepmother tried to argue, but it was no use.

Jihwan handed her a business card and replied, “From now on, please don’t contact Miss Kang. You can call this number. It’s my lawyer, and he will be representing Miss Kang from now on too.”

Just like that, Eunseo left the house with Jihwan. As she walked down the stairs, she felt weak. She was a little wobbly, and Jihwan quickly supported her arm. With Jihwan’s help, Eunseo reached his car. She saw that the men and her boxes were gone, so they must’ve loaded everything on a separate truck.

Eunseo remained quiet and Jihwan stayed by her side. After a long time, Eunseo finally asked him, “Did you know this was going to happen? So you knew they were going to act like this?”
