Chapter 04 – First Date (Part 1)

A few days have passed since we started dating, but we still hardly get to talk to each other at school.

My sister is always surrounded by her friends, she has too many friends to talk to…

On the other hand, the only people who talk to me are Asami and the Shameful Higashide from the back seat.

It hasn’t been a week since I started school, and it’s normal to have two friends in class, right? No, actually you don’t have to answer me, I’m all good.

“Hey, Higashide.”

“Yoichi is fine.”

“Yeah, okay. So, Higashide.”

“What is it?”

I approached Yoichi Higashide, a disappointingly good-looking guy who was nibbling on a piece of bread alone in the seat behind me during lunch break.

“You’re here today, aren’t you usually always out with others at lunch?”

I asked because I’m the guy with only two friends in my class, yeah just two friends…

I can’t eat with Asami because of my sister, and Higashide is always away, so I’m always eating alone, but today I’m glad I have someone to eat with, just a little bit.

“Yeah, we always eat in the club room, but today the manager was using it, so we couldn’t use the club room to eat at.”

“Hee~, well, I don’t care about that. I just want to ask you something.”

“No, you should ask me what he’s doing there.”

“No, I’m not interested. Anyways.”

“Haaaa… So? What do you want to ask me?”

“Where do you go on dates?”

There was a moment of silence, and I was about to say it again, wondering if I hadn’t been heard.

“… Y-y-you have a girlfriend!!!?”

He immediately grabbed me by the collar and shook me violently, stop it, my brain is shaking.

“No, I don’t. Just calm down already.”

A dozen or so people in the class, including my sister, looked at us suspiciously and wondered what we were doing.

“I’m sorry, I overreacted.”

Higashide took his seat, bowing to the people around him.

“So, if you don’t have a girlfriend, why are you asking me where to go on a date?”

Higashide took a sip of milk through a straw, perhaps to calm down, and leaned against the back of his seat, folding his hands over his head as he asked.

“Uhhhh, game, yeah game, I’m having a hard time with the choices.”

“Oh? It’s a game? Has the flag been raised? Did you confess?”

“Yeah, actually she confessed.”

“She confessed to you? Then it’s easy. You just call her up to your place and you’re right into the s*x scene, congratulations, let me play sometime too.”

“A-a-as if I can do that!!!!?”

This time I screamed loudly and people around me looked at me with cold eyes.

Higashide looks at me with a perplexed face.

“Oh, I’m sorry… I overreacted.”

Now I took my seat with a sigh of humility.

“What? Would you prefer to be in her room? The infirmary? Or outdoors? You don’t happen to have any taste for that, do you?”

“No, I’m not talking about eroge. I’ve never even played them in the first place.”

He was looking at me with suspicion.

Is it really a game or does he really have a girlfriend?

I don’t know which one he’s suspecting, but Higashide, taking a moment to pause think seriously, and then said,

“Hmmmm, well, isn’t karaoke or a movie the standard?”

“Houhou.”

“The rest is amusement parks, parks, coffee shops, shopping.”

“Not good.”

“Well, you know, if she likes you, she’ll be alright with anywhere.”

“Is that what this is about?”

“Yeah, that’s the way it is. Oh, I’m kinda of good at this, amiright?”

“If not for that last part. Thank you.”

“I mean good, and if I end up going out with your sister, you can talk to me about it.”

“Hai-hai.”

I gave him a slight scolding, but he paid no attention to it. Shameful Higashide talks on and on about things that will never come true.

That’s all I decided, and I was dithering over my weekend plans, responding to the unfortunate, fruitless conversation with a raw response.

Even though we are dating, we are also siblings and classmates, and since a lot of people know us, there is no way we can fool around anywhere we want.

But that doesn’t mean we can’t fool around out at home, as our recent routine is chatting over a cup of tea in the living room when we get home.

We’re not really flirting! We just cuddle and talk together.

My sister happily goes on and on about how her friends were like this today, or how they complain about class, or how her math teacher has a funny way of talking, and so on.

Sorry sister, I don’t have much to talk about, especially about school…

I’ve never done this before, so I don’t know, but honestly, is this what being in a relationship is all about? I wonder, but when I see my sister talking happily, I think, “guess this must be so” and I’m having fun too so yeah.

“So, Shiori, it’s the weekend, is there anywhere you want to go?”

When my sister’s story took a break, I decided to ask her where she wanted to go for the weekend.

I’ve already thought about it, but I don’t know yet. This is the first time in my life that I’m going out with a girl alone.

I don’t have enough experience to tell her, like a man, to come and follow me, and if she can’t have fun, what’s the point of going?

“It’s a weekend date, right? Um, anywhere you want to go, Onii-chan.”

“It doesn’t help if you say anywhere is fine~”

Because, it’s hard to decide if the choices are anything or anywhere…

“Onii-chan can take me to Akihabara, Animate, Gamers, Tora no Ana, maid cafes, Otome Road…”

“No-no… I’m not that much of a geek, but you know a lot about it, I don’t even know what that last one means.”

“Okay, so, we can go to Westin, or Conrad, or Ritz-Carlton, or…”

My sister with a blush nominated some super luxury hotels in Tokyo.

“No, we’re not going there. I don’t have that kind of money.”

“ Harry Winston, Tiffany’s?”

“I’m sorry, I’m not buying a ring. I mean, I can’t.”

After a few moments of serious consideration, my sister then answered with what seems to be what she suddenly remembered.

“Well, yeah… I wanna go to the aquarium.”

“Aquarium? I didn’t realize it was a classic, but where should we go, Shinagawa, Ikebukuro, Kasai, maybe even a little further away, come to think of it, there’s one in Enoshima too.”

“No, you see, there’s an aquarium I want to go with you, Onii-chan.”

“You want to go to that aquarium with me?”

“Yeah, it’s Saitama Aquarium.”

Huh? Saitama Aquarium?

There’s no sea in Saitama… though!
