At this moment, Wang Tiancheng's mood was something no one could understand—conflicted, helpless, and oppressed. He couldn't chase after the beautiful women he saw, couldn't drive the luxury cars, and had to go to work in a remote town.
Wang Tiancheng, with this mindset, didn't want the beautiful women to see him without a car. Only after turning a corner did he plan to take a taxi.
Before he could even extend his hand, Wang Tiancheng noticed that five or six men were slowly surrounding him from behind. He recognized these men; they were the ones who had tried to extort the beautiful woman earlier. Wang Tiancheng's hands were itching. He threw his backpack on the ground, ready to give these hooligans a good lesson.
"Kid, do you know who we are? The Five Rats of Fenglin County. You dare to mess with us? You're asking for it," the leader, a large man, said fiercely, while pulling out a three-foot-long iron rod from his waist.
Wang Tiancheng wasn't afraid of a fight. Dealing with these few people was no problem. He had been a gangster before. He smiled slightly and said, "Do you know who I am?"
The large man was slightly taken aback and looked at the others behind him, shaking his head and saying, "Who are you?"
Wang Tiancheng could tell that these men weren't big shots, just hooligans, not even close to being part of the mafia. He smiled and said, "If you listen to me, I am the Jade Cat, appointed by the provincial party secretary."
The large man was stunned for a moment but quickly understood. Everyone knows the game of the cat and the mouse. He shouted, "Brothers, today we, the Five Rats, will cripple this damn cat." With that, the five iron rods swung at Wang Tiancheng.
Wang Tiancheng smiled slightly, quickly dodged the leader's rod, and threw a punch, hitting the large man, who fell forward. Wang Tiancheng didn't let him fall; he grabbed him and the four iron rods hit the leader directly.
The large man let out a series of惨叫声, with blood dripping from his mouth, clearly injured.
Wang Tiancheng seized the opportunity, and with a few punches and kicks, he took down the other rats. It took only a minute, and the so-called Five Rats of Fenglin County were all lying on the ground.
Wang Tiancheng clapped his hands, signaling the end of the fight. He believed these five rats wouldn't be able to stand up. He picked up his backpack and walked forward, getting into a taxi.
"Driver, to the Liu Village Township Government," Wang Tiancheng said simply.
The driver seemed surprised and looked at Wang Tiancheng, saying, "Are you sure you want to go to the Liu Village Township Government? It's 300 yuan, pay first."
This puzzled Wang Tiancheng. It was the first time he had heard of paying before getting in the car, and 300 yuan was quite a lot. He asked, "Is Liu Village far? That's expensive."
"Liu Village is the farthest township in Fenglin County, over a hundred miles away. Is it far or not? I see you look honest, but I don't usually take people, afraid of robbers," the driver said straightforwardly.
Wang Tiancheng had no choice. He took out three hundred-yuan bills and handed them to the driver. He was quite frustrated, and the image of Long Hai's disgusting smile and the fat hand with his mother's diamond ring appeared in his mind again.
Wang Tiancheng felt that Long Hai had played him. If he had to work in the county, he had no objections, but going to a township, he accepted it. However, this township was too far, over a hundred miles from the county. Long Hai's talk of training him was just a lie.
Sitting in the taxi, Wang Tiancheng was quite bored. He touched the business card given by the beautiful woman and took it out, reading it with interest. To his surprise, the address was the Liu Village Township Industrial Park, and the name was Miao Xiaoxiao, Chairman of the Wan Sheng Group. Wang Tiancheng didn't know the Wan Sheng Group, but he knew Liu Village Township, which was exactly where he was going.
This made Wang Tiancheng have some small thoughts. He felt that the connection wasn't over and hoped to meet her again. Any man would yearn for a beautiful woman.
The journey was smooth, despite the distance. The road was wide, and there were many enterprises along the way. A large sign was very prominent, reading "Fenglin County Liu Village Township Industrial Park." The taxi stopped under the sign.
"The town government is to the left of the sign," the driver pointed out.
Wang Tiancheng got out of the taxi with his backpack and walked toward a large gate. On the wall next to the gate, it read "Liu Village Township Party Committee and Government."
It was morning, and it was time for work. Wang Tiancheng walked in without hesitation. In the courtyard, there were rows of buildings. Wang Tiancheng found the office of the Party and Government Office and went in. The office was quite simple, with two desks, a few chairs, and an old TV in the corner. A sofa was covered in dust.
A young woman, in her twenties, was sitting at one of the desks, reading a newspaper. Wang Tiancheng walked over and put his backpack on the desk, but before he could say anything, the woman spoke.
"What are you doing? Take your backpack down, this is the town government, you know," the young woman said in a childish voice.
"I know," Wang Tiancheng quickly replied.
"Know and still don't take it down?" the woman continued.
Wang Tiancheng was speechless. A small town government, yet so domineering. He really wanted to slap this woman but held back, took his backpack, and looked at her.
After a while, Wang Tiancheng said, "I'm here to report for duty. This is my transfer order." He took out a piece of paper from his backpack.
The woman didn't even look at it and pointed to a door across from the window, saying, "You need to talk to our division head. Go to that door yourself." Then she continued reading her newspaper.
Wang Tiancheng felt that the woman's tone was cold and harsh. Is this how the bureaucracy works? He thought as he walked to the back row, where the woman had pointed. The door was open, and a middle-aged man was sitting inside, reading a newspaper. Wang Tiancheng knocked lightly and walked in.
"Hello, my name is Wang Tiancheng. I'm here to report for duty. This is my transfer order," Wang Tiancheng said directly to the middle-aged man.
The man took the transfer order, looked at it, and was slightly taken aback. It was signed by the county party secretary himself. He quickly stood up and offered Wang Tiancheng a seat.
Just then, a beautiful woman in her thirties rushed in, saying loudly, "Secretary Fei, quickly organize people to put out the fire. I'll go to the scene first."
