Chapter 23: Cheshire Kitty is here!

An Xingzhou didn’t do a live stream the next afternoon.
He wasn’t particularly casual with his live streams, but he wasn’t as on-schedule as other live streamers. He frequently took breaks or left his viewers hanging and then wildly made up the time at the end of the month. But what could they do? He was good-looking and had serious skills. Him leaving them hanging could be glorified as being unruly and arrogant.
It was currently only the start of the month, right at the time when An Xingzhou felt that there wasn’t much harm to leaving his viewers hanging. In addition, there was Peng Ci, who was climbing on his neck and shouting that it wanted to co-op, so he naturally gave himself a break.
After all, by the time Peng Ci’s computer arrived, he could completely live stream while co-oping with Peng Ci. He would be coaxing the bunny bun and increasing the live stream time. It was two birds with one stone.
An Xingzhou made his plans and grabbed Peng Ci, who was still shouting about wanting to play games, from his neck. His hand, which was pinching Peng Ci’s paws, became much gentler. “Ci Ci, can you really play games?”
“I can!” Peng Ci arched against An Xingzhou, spreading its paws and saying very sourly, “I’ll definitely be better than that person from yesterday!”
Good. This was a very confident rabbit.
An Xingzhou thought about Peng Ci still not knowing about him buying a computer for it and decided to hide it to give Peng Ci a surprise when the computer arrived.
Thinking up to this point, An Xingzhou straightforwardly picked up his phone to check the delivery. To his surprise, he discovered that the delivery was actually pretty fast. Since the computer had already arrived at the dispatch point in the city, he supposed that it would arrive today at the fastest and tomorrow at latest.
Thinking about how he was soon going to play a co-op round with a rabbit, An Xingzhou felt a little conflicted. Can you believe that a rabbit can really play games?
If Peng Ci was noob, it would be okay. But if Peng Ci was really good… then what about his dignity?!
An Xingzhou lowered his head and glanced at Peng Ci, who was lying in his embrace, rubbing against the palm of his hand with its back, and occasionally glancing at him to signal wildly that it wanted to be rubbed. Then he dismissed the idea. Peng Ci was definitely a noob.
An Xingzhou played with Peng Ci for a while, throwing things and having Peng Ci retrieve them like he was teasing a dog. After throwing back and forth for a few rounds, the doorbell rang.
An Xingzhou guessed that the computer had been delivered and bent over to pick up Peng Ci, who was lying on the floor and panting from exhaustion, placing it on the sofa.
But there wasn’t a single person behind the door. An Xingzhou looked left and right and then shut the door in confusion.
Two seconds after the door shut, the doorbell rang again.
An Xingzhou opened the door again. There still wasn’t a single person.
An Xingzhou: “…”
An Xingzhou shut the door again.
“Wife,” Peng Ci asked while lying on the sofa, “What’s wrong?”
“Nothing.” An Xingzhou put his hand on the door handle, preparing to open the door and beat the person up as soon as the doorbell rang. He even took the time to respond to Peng Ci. “There might be someone playing pranks.”
“Oh…” Peng Ci didn’t have much of a reaction to the words “playing pranks”. Instead, it said very carefreely, “Humans really like to pway. So cute!”
“Ding dong——”
The doorbell rang again, and An Xingzhou opened the door quickly. It was completely empty outside. A cold gust of wind blew past, and An Xingzhou shivered, immediately cursing, “F**k. I bumped into a ghost in broad daylight?”
“You didn’t.” A voice sounded out of nowhere. “The one who you bumped into is me!”
An Xingzhou stiffened for a moment and looked in the direction that the voice came from, seeing that there was a… cat squatting outside.
It was probably a cat. A white cat. It was just that its face was a little human-like and a little pig-like.
An Xingzhou retreated a few steps subconsciously. In his mind, a cat being able to speak the human language wasn’t anything major anymore. He was more concerned about something else.
An Xingzhou couldn’t resist blurting out “So ugly!”
Such an ugly cat was really rare. Its nose was bright red, its mouth large enough to swallow Peng Ci whole.
An Xingzhou felt that he had already gradually sublimated under this ugly kitty’s gaze.
The cat outside: “…”
That cat stared at An Xingzhou, its ugly and large mouth falling downwards and quivering. Its eyes started gradually tearing up, “Why are you calling me ugly? I’m not ugly. I’m very cute!”
An Xingzhou: “…”
An Xingzhou’s mouth quivered along with the cat’s. “A-are you cute…”
The ugly kitty cried while saying, “Look at my mouth, which curves downwards when I smile playfully. It’s as beautiful as Miss Dong’s 1 .”
An Xingzhou: “…”
An Xingzhou really didn’t know how to respond and could only observe a moment of silence for Miss Dong. He lowered his head to look at the cat that was crying sorrowfully, feeling conflicted. He wanted to comfort it, but he didn’t know how he should do it. His gaze passed all over the ugly kitty’s body and fell on the little baggie the kitty was carrying.
He had a spark of inspiration and quickly changed the subject, saying, “Your little baggie is really cute. The kitty printed on it is really cute too. Who is it?”
The ugly kitty’s tears seemed to fall even faster.
“Can’t you tell?” The ugly kitty trembled, shaking the little bag on its back to let An Xingzhou see it more clearly. “It’s me!”
An Xingzhou: “…”
‘Sorry, but I really can’t tell.’
‘Aside from both being white and cats, you guys aren’t similar in any way. You went overboard with the photoshopping.’
But from seeing the cat face printed on the little baggie, An Xingzhou felt like he had seen it before. It was very familiar, but he couldn’t remember at the moment.
At this time, Peng Ci finally finished resting and leaped off the sofa. It spread its paws and charged towards the door with pattering steps.
But because it was moving too fast and the floor was too slippery, he couldn’t brake in time, bumping into the ugly kitty outside. The cat and bunny rolled into a ball.
Peng Ci got up while rubbing its head, crying in surprise, “Cheshire Kitty! You’re here?!”
Cheshire Kitty?
An Xingzhou immediately remembered that it was the cat that was begging to deliver Peng Ci money on QQ!
The degree of beauty of its profile picture was exactly how ugly it was in reality. An Xingzhou had just been so attacked by that ugly face that he started doubting life and simply couldn’t match it up to Cheshire Kitty!
“Hmph. Aren’t I really fast?” Cheshire Kitty raised its paws and pulled down the little baggie it was carrying. It was just about to kick it over to Peng Ci when it suddenly remembered something and stepped on the little baggie.
Peng Ci was also just about to get it but froze when it saw Cheshire Kitty’s movements, asking, “What’s wrong? Aren’t you bringing me my secret money stash?”
“I am, but you have to pay me first!” Cheshire Kitty patted the baggie a few times. “I want cash or payment from QR code scanning! I don’t have a POS machine, so I’m not accepting cards.”
“But I don’t have cash!” Peng Ci squatted on the floor, its front paws rubbing against each other as it turned its head suddenly to look at An Xingzhou. “Wife! Give Cheshire Kitty five hundred yuan 2 !”
An Xingzhou, who was suddenly dragged through the mud: “…”
He was currently wondering if he’d been cheated.
But the cat and rabbit were both squatting on the floor and staring at him with their eyes shining, so he could only get his phone speechlessly.
After all, Peng Ci was the rabbit he was raising. He’d have to help take the blame for Peng Ci tricking the cat into delivering the money.
An Xingzhou took out his phone and looked at Cheshire Kitty while half-squatting, asking, “How do you scan?”
“Yeah! Wait a second!” Cheshire Kitty’s attitude immediately improved after it saw An Xingzhou being so straightforward. It unzipped the baggie with its teeth and pulled out three bank cards, a phone, and printed QR code.
Cheshire Kitty brought the QR code to An Xingzhou, and An Xingzhou paid five hundred yuan after scanning.
“Wait!” Cheshire Kitty said to An Xingzhou, “Show me the payment success page!”
An Xingzhou was speechless, but he could only show Cheshire Kitty the page.
After Cheshire Kitty carefully confirmed that An Xingzhou had actually paid the five hundred yuan, it kicked the phone and three credit cards to Peng Ci.
Peng Ci handed the stuff he received over to An Xingzhou right after turning its head, bragging to Cheshire Kitty, “Oh yeah! He’s my wife! Isn’t my wife really good-looking?”
“Yeah, yeah.” Cheshire Kitty stuffed its QR code back into its little baggie and then put it on. Glancing at the cards and phone An Xingzhou took, it turned and ran off, reminding in the end, “Ci Ci, be careful not to be scammed by humans.”
“I won’t!” Peng Ci yelled towards Cheshire Kitty’s back. “My wife is the bestest!”
An Xingzhou: “…”
An Xingzhou was staring at the credit cards. He turned it back and forth several times before confirming that these were real credit cards, the type with actual money!
Author’s Note:
Thanks to Cheshire Kitty for making a friendly guest appearance. A certain lady said Ci Ci is really cute, so I brought her over to make a guest appearance and talk with Ci Ci. XD Everyone can make a guess as to who she is. After all, I don’t think you’ll be able to guess right! [Smirk]
