Chapter 34: It was because he wanted to protect him (pt. 1)

A week had uneventfully passed since An Xingzhou brought Bunny Yuan home with him. Peng Ci didn’t even play games the entire week. Instead, it was engrossed in pondering how on earth it could become human.
An Xingzhou comforted it several times, telling Peng Ci not to be anxious and that he would stay with it since he said so. But Peng Ci would just nod and go right back to quietly nibbling on its ears after turning around, unbelievably anxious.
The anxiety was really getting to Peng Ci. As soon as it thought about how Bunny Yuan said it didn’t really want to become human, it would get terribly worried. Every day, it was crazily mumbling, “I want to become human.” With every chant, it would look down at its paws, again and again. Peng Ci raged, “Why are they still bunny paws?!”
An Xingzhou: “…”
An Xingzhou asked, “Wouldn’t it be scarier to look down and suddenly see a human hand?”
Peng Ci clapped its paws. “But if they don’t become human hands, I wouldn’t be able to become human!”
“…” An Xingzhou thought it made some sense, but also felt that something was a little off. After thinking for a while, he asked fearfully, “Do you rabbits become human starting from your hands? What about the ‘becoming human with a poof ’ thing you mentioned?”
“Oh yeah…” Peng Ci rubbed its back with its hind leg. “Everything transforms at once!”
An Xingzhou: “…”
‘Out of sight, out of mind.’ An Xingzhou shut the door and started live-streaming.
But as soon as An Xingzhou started the stream, his fans asked why he wasn’t playing co-op with Peng Ci anymore.
In his mind, An Xingzhou replied, ‘Because Peng Ci is chanting about how it wants to become human everyday like a witch. It doesn’t have the time to show off its presence.’ What he actually said was, “He’s been really busy recently. Are you guys here for me or him?”
The comments immediately laughed, “Here for you!”
After hearing Peng Ci chant everyday, he could still hear Peng Ci’s “I want to become human” in his quiet room and couldn’t help secretly sighing.
But as soon as he sighed, his fans got excited. The lively comments were all saying that An Xingzhou was sighing because he missed Peng Ci. After all, being alone without one’s partner would feel empty, lonely, and cold.
An Xingzhou didn’t know whether to cry or laugh, thinking that he wasn’t alone, much less “empty, lonely, and cold.” Peng Ci stuck to his leg everyday and even clung onto his neck when he was sleeping, making him wake up feeling sweaty in the middle of the night.
But it wasn’t as if he could say that out loud, so An Xingzhou could only watch as his fans’ imaginative ability went into overdrive.
Holding his chin in his hand, he looked at the comments and occasionally answered a few questions. But suddenly, he saw a series of red comments drift across the top of the screen.
@OnlyLoveXingZhou: You won’t be alone. I’ll come to you soon.
An Xingzhou had seen several similar comments before, but virtually all of it was his fans joking around, and he took it very well. But for some reason, this series of red comments made his heart skip a beat.
He subconsciously furrowed his eyebrows, feeling an indescribable sense of unease.
But immediately after the comments, other fans replied “Wait for me, I’ll go to Xing Xing with you!”
Seeing this familiar kind of joking, An Xingzhou finally relaxed his eyebrows and couldn’t help rubbing the space between them, figuring that he was being over sensitive.
In the next few days after the livestream, An Xingzhou didn’t see that person’s comments again while live-streaming, making him finally feel certain that he had been too paranoid.
But the next morning, An Xingzhou was woken up by the ringing of the doorbell.
He had just been dreaming about hearing Peng Ci’s discomforting chanting. Ao as soon as he woke up, he felt grateful that the ringing sound had interrupted his quiet dreams in the early morning.
He gently moved Peng Ci aside, who was clinging onto his neck and snoring loudly. Rubbing his hair, he walked into the living room with his slippers on and asked before opening the door, “Who is it?”
The person outside said in a low voice, “Delivery.”
An Xingzhou peeked through the peephole. He saw the person outside wearing a baseball cap and holding a very small delivery package. He couldn’t see the person’s face clearly, but they definitely weren’t the usual delivery man.
There were only a few delivery men for his district, and An Xingzhou had gotten very familiar with them from his constant online shopping. Seeing a stranger, he felt a little on guard and checked his shipment on his phone.
The ribbon he bought for Peng Ci hadn’t been shipped yet due to a product shortage. An Xingzhou had wanted to buy it from another merchant, but Peng Ci liked it so much that he just waited for the shipment.
Yesterday the ribbon had been shipped. After An Xingzhou checked that the ribbon had arrived at the distribution center, he finally opened the door.
“Sorry about the long wait.” An Xingzhou lowered his head to sign for his package and asked, “Are you new? I’ve never seen you around before.”
“Yeah.” The delivery man pushed the cap down, even as he peered up at An Xingzhou firmly.
An Xingzhou raised his head after signing, coincidentally meeting the delivery man’s focused and passionate gaze. He felt goosebumps all over and took a step back unconsciously. “Thank you. I’m closing the door.”
The delivery man pushed against the door firmly and stepped forward before An Xingzhou could even react, forcibly squeezing in. Then he slammed the door shut from behind, making a loud sound.
“Xing Xing, I’m here to be with you.” That person pulled off the cap, revealing a familiar face. His mouth was twitching as he said with a fake smile, “Did you miss me? I missed you so much. I had to search for so long to find you here…”
An Xingzhou was stunned from seeing that face. This was the crazy fan who used to keep sending him selfies, nudes, and even wrist-slitting photos!
“F**k!” An Xingzhou quickly stepped back, but being afraid of provoking the crazy fan because his mental state seemed a little off, An Xingzhou could only say, “Stay away. I suggest that you immediately leave or else I’ll call the police.”
“I’m already here. I came specifically to be with you. Didn’t you miss me, Xing Xing…?” The crazy fan looked at An Xingzhou with infatuation and suddenly charged towards An Xingzhou, reaching out to hug him. “I love you! Do you not get it?! I love you!”
An Xingzhou avoided him in an agile manner and couldn’t take it any longer. An Xingzhou turned back with his fist clenched. “Mother******, you better—“
“Get lost!!” A gust of wind blew past An Xingzhou, and the crazy fan was sent flying with a “bang.”
An Xingzhou: “???”
All An Xingzhou saw was a blur of flesh darting back and forth and then the crazy fan fainting in the corner.
An Xingzhou: “???”
He looked at the sheepish looking naked guy who was staring at him and felt extreme confusion.
“Wife…” The naked guy dove head first into An Xingzhou’s arms. He was clearly several inches taller than An Xingzhou, but he still insisted on bending over, rubbing against An Xingzhou’s neck and chin wildly. “Sob sob. Wife, I’m so scared… Who is he?”
‘Don’t be scared. I’m even more scared than you are.’
An Xingzhou had a blank expression, but when the naked guy started rubbing against him, An Xingzhou really couldn’t take it anymore. Shoving the stranger aside, An Xingzhou yelled, “Who are you?”
