An Xingzhou’s call to the fire department went through, and he gave a simple explanation of the situation.
There was an eerie silence on the other end for two seconds, before the person once again said in confirmation, “You’re talking about…a rabbit, right?”
“Right.” An Xingzhou glanced at Peng Ci, who was still whining with its legs firmly planted on the ground, shaking its big butt as it tried to pull its head out, and said without the slightest trace of embarrassment, “It is a rabbit. A real, true rabbit.”
Peng Ci heard An Xingzhou talk and squeaked a few times, chiming in with “It’s really a rab——!”
An Xingzhou extended his hand, using his palm to completely cover Peng Ci’s small bunny bun head coldly, and calmly reported his address and phone number before ending the call.
“Sob sob——” Peng Ci shook its little head crazily, muffledly saying, “Wife! Lem go pft! Can’t bweathe!”
It was only now that An Xingzhou retracted his hand and tapped Peng Ci’s head with his finger, asking it, “What did I tell you just now? Do you still remember?”
Peng Ci shook its butt and arched its back, wanting An Xingzhou to tap its head a little more.
How nice head tapping was!
Mom always taps Dad’s head, saying helplessly and dotingly “Oh, you”, and then Dad would move close and kiss Mom.
Ci Ci also wants to get his head tapped by Wife! I also want kissies!
But Peng Ci was helpless, since its neck was stuck firmly. Its little paws flopped around a few times to no avail, and it could only watch An Xingzhou’s finger move farther away. It sat down with a plop and sighed faintly, answering An Xingzhou’s question: “I remember.”
It was An Xingzhou’s first time hearing a rabbit sigh and felt it was a bit fun. He couldn’t resist extending his hand to poke it a few times. “You remember? Then what did I tell you just now?”
Wife poked me! Wife poking me equals Wife loves me. Wife loves me equals Wife wants to kissy me!
Logic expert Peng Ci stood up immediately, its large, round eyes shining. It opened its mouth and stuck its tongue out like a little puppy, pantingly saying, “Wife says he wants to kissy me!”
An Xingzhou: “?”
An Xingzhou couldn’t understand what else there was in this demon rabbit’s mind aside from kissies, huggies, and being raised high in the air.
He glanced at Peng Ci’s head tenderly, thinking, ‘Its head is so small. No wonder its brain capacity is also small. The retard didn’t want to be a retard itself. It’s just naturally retarded. It isn’t Peng Ci’s fault.’
An Xingzhou was extremely generous, picking up the dishcloth that had just been covering Peng Ci’s body and covering Peng Ci’s head with it again.
The dishcloth was a little big, easily covering Peng Ci’s head and that pair of ears completely.
Peng Ci’s sight darkened, and its ears trembled against the dishcloth. It got even more excited.
Peng Ci said against that piece of dishcloth. “Wife, is this the red veil humans use during weddings?!”
“…” An Xingzhou originally just felt that the rabbit was loud and wanted it out of sight, out of mind. But now that the phrase “red veil” came out, An Xingzhou’s expression became more subtle.
He was silent for a few seconds, staring at that piece of dishcloth, and quietly opened his mouth to ask, “Are you rabbits all colorblind?”
The two words “You rabbits” sent a shiver through Peng Ci’s heart.
“Ci Ci isn’t colorblind.” Peng Ci immediately clarified. After clarifying, it even dragged other rabbits through the mud. “But other rabbits are definitely colorblind. And they’re hard to raise, plus their poopy is smellies!”
“Alright, you’re the most amazing.” An Xingzhou didn’t understand what Peng Ci meant and was still staring at the dishcloth. After perfunctorily answering, he said, “If you aren’t colorblind, then how come you still say that this is a red veil?”
“Isn’t it a red veil?” Peng Ci twitched its ears nimbly and raised the dishcloth up to stare at it intently, proving that it was an amazing bunny bun that wasn’t colorblind. It immediately puffed out its chest, saying extremely proudly, “It’s white! Then are we changing it to a white veil?! White veils can be used for marriages? 1 ”
“No…” An Xingzhou raised a corner of the cloth, glanced at the pleased Peng Ci, and quietly covered it again.
An Xingzhou said, “If this metal ring can’t be opened, this will be the white veil to send you on your way.”
An Xingzhou scared Peng Ci so much that it made another fuss for quite some time and finally got tired. It obediently laid on the table to rest, using its legs to kick the back of An Xingzhou’s palm from time to time.
An Xingzhou was leaning on the cooking counter. One hand was supporting him on the counter, the other holding and tapping his phone. He got a bit afraid from Peng Ci’s frequent kicking, directly turning to catch Peng Ci’s little paws and pinch them a few times.
He was currently asking for a break/leave from tonight’s live stream and turned his phone around upon doing some thinking, deciding to embarrass this little bunny, who couldn’t differentiate between good and bad. With a “snap”, he took a picture of Peng Ci with its neck stuck and sent it out in the break post.
But the silly rabbit didn’t have the awareness to be embarrassed.
Peng Ci’s leg was pinched a few times by its dear Wife. It was totally oblivious that its kicking from time to time was too annoying, even thinking that it was Wife apologizing about scaring itself. Then Peng Ci noticed Wife taking pictures of it and immediately crossed its legs to strike a pose. “Is Wife going public with me? Then take some extra photos! Make me look handsome! The people who see it will definitely all compliment me!”
An Xingzhou silently clicked into the comment section. A series of “hahahahahahaha” and “this rabbit is too dumb.” He nodded at Peng Ci coldly, “Yeah, they’re all complimenting you.”
They’re all complimenting your retardedness.
Peng Ci believed it to be the truth and started getting smug. After turning its head, it started shaking its tail, its hind paws tapping on the table. You completely couldn’t tell it was a rabbit with its neck stuck that was waiting for help.
When the firefighter arrived, what he saw was such a scene.
The firefighter and An Xingzhou stared at each other for a while. The former smiled awkwardly, saying, “This rabbit is pretty lively, huh. No wonder it got stuck.”
Peng Ci: “Squeak squeak!”
It’s not because I’m lively that I got stuck! It’s because my jumping ability is too good! Number one!
The firefighter placed his bag on the cooking counter, pulling the things out bit by bit. After carefully confirming the distance between the rabbit’s neck and the metal ring, he stuffed a protective cloth between them.
The protective cloth tightly pressed against Peng Ci’s neck, and it started feeling like its neck was being squeezed to death again. But An Xingzhou had warned it not to speak human, so it could only aggrievedly make mouse cries.
An Xingzhou went to rub Peng Ci’s back and tail, comfortingly saying, “Stop shouting, it’ll be over soon. Be obedient.”
“Puff puff!” After Peng Ci made two sounds, it obediently quieted down.
The firefighter, seeing this, was astonished. “Your rabbit is so obedient… We’ve encountered a lot of cats stuck here and there, but a rabbit’s a first. If it’s so obedient, how did it get stuck in there?”
Peng Ci said “Squeak squeak!”
Because I wanted to go outside with Wife!
An Xingzhou said “Because it wanted to go outside with me, it wanted to jump onto my shoulder. But it jumped too far in the end.”
Peng Ci: “Squeak squeak squeak!”
Wife’s heart and mine are linked as one!
The firefighter pulled out his tools, plugged them in, and started sawing at the metal ring. As he sawed, he listened to the rabbit and An Xingzhou echoing each other, heartily laughing.
The speed of a professional was indeed extraordinary.
Peng Ci was released very quickly. The firefighter extended his hand, wanting to pet this obedient rabbit, but the rabbit bent over nimbly and slipped past under the firefighter’s hand, very quickly climbing onto An Xingzhou’s shoulder, rubbing its fleshy cheeks against An Xingzhou’s face, and sticking out its tongue to lick him.
Peng Ci: “Squeak squeak!”
Wife, I got out!
“Yeah.” An Xingzhou plucked Peng Ci off of his shoulder, thanking the firefighter and poked Peng Ci’s butt, saying, “It was him who saved you. What are you licking me for.”
The firefighter chuckled. “Definitely the owner!”
Peng Ci squeaked at the firefighter, explaining that this wasn’t its owner but its Wife. Then it half stood, bowing towards the firefighter with its paws placed in front of its furry chest.
"
"
The firefighter was shocked from suddenly receiving such a grand thank you. “This rabbit must’ve become a demon! 2 ”
“Squeak squeak!!” Peng Ci’s fur immediately stood up, the fur on the tips of its ears straight, and it turned suddenly to look at An Xingzhou.
Wife, what do I do?! Was I exposed?!

In Chinese culture, white is the color for mourning (like during funerals) and death. Red is the festive color used during important celebrations and marriage. In Chinese, saying an animal “became a demon/spirit” means they seem extremely human-like. It’s in reference to how common animals can cultivate and turn into demon/spirits with human intelligence in Chinese mythology.
