Fei’er and Rou’er exchanged glances and helped to prepare warm robes for Ping Zhaofu.
The population of Cha family had always been small. It was said that Cha family had strict regulations and only allowed to marry one wife, no concubines were allowed. The reason was that family properties or treasures would fall into the hands of concubines once being favoured. This could destroy the whole family.
Upon hearing this, Ping Zhaofu was happy but same time was nervous. The good news was that she did not need to worry about other women stealing her husband. After all, she was not young and also came from a lower background family. Comparing herself with another young and beautiful woman, she would be left out in the cold soon after getting married.
What made her nervous was that if she couldn’t give birth to a child, at her old age, nobody would know how long Cha Xiangye will going to keep her in the family. One year or two years? Or maybe shorter, she will be kicked out from the family.
But what she feared the most was not having a home. If this really happened, she really didn’t know what to do and how to live.
She looked at her belly, hoping to get the good news, so she will be eased.
After walking around, Ping Zhaofu realized that Cha Xiangye certainly the richest man in Linhe City. The house occupied such a large area, and even the land rented by Ping Family for farming was nothing compared to this.
There was a lake at the Northeast. When the Cha house was built, the natural small lake became one of the landscape of the garden.
Then there was a pavilion built by the lake. Ping Zhaofu rested herself here, it was situated slightly higher from the ground, and you can almost see the entire garden. She leaned her elbow against the railing, quietly looking at the bleak but unique scenery. She narrowed her eyes and smiled at the corner of her mouth.
She never thought that this one day could happened to her, married to the owner of this vast garden, and Cha Xiangye was not as scary as she thought.
He was a violent and unscrupulous man. On the contrary, he had his gentleness and thoughtfulness. Thinking about that night on the bed, he kissed her whole body gently, which brought her a strange and special pleasure, the little face could not help blushing.
Although she felt shy, she really liked the feeling of being embraced as husband and wife. That moment, she felt that she was really the wife of this man, and the man was willing to hold her hands for the rest of her life.
A tortoise emerged from the lake, and Ping Zhaofu shouted in surprise, “There is a tortoise in the water.”
“There are not only tortoises, but also fish.” Rou’er laughed. “Next time Rou’er will prepare steamed buns and let Madam feed the fish.”
“Why don’t we go to the kitchen now, maybe there are some leftover steamed buns.” Ping Zhaofu was excited and didn’t want to wait until next time.
“Madam, it’s windy, put on your robe first.” Fei’er opened the robe, helping to put it on her.
Ping Zhaofu turned around and saw Fei’er’s hand trembling lightly.
She thought these two little maids may not live as poor as she used to be in Ping family. That was why both of them trembled uncontrollably under this little wind and coldness.
“Why didn’t you two wear more clothes, you both are shaking.” Ping Zhaofu smiled and took her robe and cover them both. “Put on.”
“Madam?” This cotton robe was very warm, but it was for Ping Zhaofu, how could they dare to wear it.
“I’m not cold, just wear it.”
Ping Zhaofu walked down the pavilion with light steps. There was a path near to the East, planted with ginkgo on both sides. If she walked from here to the kitchen, it would be twice long distance compared to the normal route she used, but the scenery along the way was too beautiful.
Ping Zhaofu picked up a piece of yellow fan-shaped leaves from the ground. Turning around carelessly at her fingertips, and slowly walked forward.
“The scenery is so beautiful.” She admitted it from the bottom of her heart.
As she walked, she saw someone in front of her, sitting on a wheelchair, looking up to the sky with his eyes closed, as if he was asleep.
Ping Zhaofu approached curiously and found that the man looked so familiar.
“Mas….” No, not Master.
This person looked almost exactly the same as Master, but with broad forehead, high and straight nose, cherry thin lips, features were more detailed and softer. If Cha Xiangye is a grown-up man, then this person would be the younger version of Cha Xiangye, more handsome and delicate.
A flash of light came in.
Isn’t he the “Tree God” that she met before?
She lifted her feet and ran forward quickly, fearing that the “Tree God” would disappear.
The two servants were walking behind, as soon as they saw the young man, their faces went pale, as if they had fallen into a winter lake, their whole bodies were frozen stiff.
Rou’er pulled Fei’er’s sleeve.
“Do you want to stop Madam?” Her face was about to cry.
“It was Master who asked me to take Madam out for a walk.” Fei’er bit her lips and was equally unwilling.
“History will repeat itself.” Rou’er tightened the sleeves with her fingers.
“Maybe Madam is different,” Fei’er hoped. “Madam is not like the former ladies. She was raised in a small family and has no life experience. She s_should be able to resist the temptation..”
“What are you talking about?” Rou’er stamped her foot. “C_could it be that Master didn’t like Madam, so he deliberately asked you to do this, so he has an excuse divorce her?”
“Stop talking nonsense,” Fei’er scolded, “Master’s idea is not something we can discern.”
“It must be so!” Rou’er asserted, “Otherwise how could a normal man let his wife approach another man? He has a lot of bad record, and no one can escape out from him! If I were Master, I would lock my wife in the house and won’t let her out.”
“Alright, stop guessing.” Fei’er was also annoyed by Rou’er words, “Let’s keep an eye on Madam, so she won’t have any chance to cheat.”
“Okay!” Rou’er nodded vigorously, and hurried over to Ping Zhaofu before Fei’er could speak.
The sound of falling leaves awakened Cha Xuanyu. He opened his eyes and turned around. He saw Ping Zhaofu running towards him with a smile on her face. The corners of his mouth raised and smiled softly, as long as it’s a woman, nobody could resist from his beautiful smile.
“Tree God.” Ping Zhaofu came to him with her hands folded and bowed respectfully, making Cha Xuanyu a little dumbfounded.
He thought, this woman must be a fool, can be easily to deceive.
He could imagine his elder brother would get angry about it but same time wouldn’t dare to do anything about it.
Thinking of this, the smile on the corner of his mouth deepened. The two maids who rushed over, knowing his true nature, their hearts throbbed uncontrollably and began to breathe hard.
“I am not a god,” his tone was very gentle, like the sound of nature, “I am your brother-in-law.”
“Brother-in-law?” Ping Zhaofu was taken aback, “Are you Master’s brother?”
Ping Zhaofu thought, why no one told her that Cha Xiangye has a younger brother?
She has been married into Cha family, but no one mention about it at all.
The feeling of being excluded became more obvious, the small hands on side clenched subconsciously.
People like her with poor background, like an orphan- definitely not someone worthy in this place. They refused to tell her anything and only can stayed inside the room. Sooner or later, one day she might have to leave, leaving this place that didn’t belong to her.
“Why do you call your husband “Master”?” Cha Xuanyu’s a pair of winking eyes were hooked with interest.
Ping Zhaofu smiled and did not respond to his question.
She greeted the same as like the other maids in family. She felt timid and afraid that she was not qualified to call Cha Xiangye as “Husband”. Plus no one had corrected her all this while, so she guessed that she was not considered as the real wife of Cha Xiangye until she gave birth to a child, because she might be kicked out at any time.
“Why are you here alone, and no one serves you?” Ping Zhaofu asked with concern.
“It’s cold, the maid went to help me get my robes.”
Before Ping Zhaofu came out of the house, Fei’er was afraid that she would get cold and brought extra robes. Ping Zhaofu couldn’t help and took off one to cover him.
Rou’er quickly helped Ping Zhaofu on the cotton robes.
“Aren’t you cold? You can put this on.”
“Sister-in-law not feeling cold?” Cha Xuanyu looked up at her.
“I’m fine, I can stand the cold.” Ping Zhaofu couldn’t help but glanced at the strange chair that he was sitting on.
Aware of her curious gaze, Cha Xuanyu lowered his head.
“My leg is broken…” He stroked his thigh in a sentimental tone. “…permanently for lifetime.”
Ping Zhaofu didn’t expect that, and secretly blamed herself for being too curious and not considered.
“Did my brother ever mention about me to you?”
The eyes that looked directly at Ping Zhaofu were full of hope, like childlike innocence, which made Ping Zhaofu unable to tell the truth. She was afraid of hurting his feeling and making him uncomfortable.
“Well…it should be, I might have forgotten.” Ping Zhaofu smiled dryly, dared not look at him.
“For sure he did not.” Cha Xuanyu’s eyes flushed suddenly, and the corners of his eyes were wet. “To Big Brother, it would be best if I didn’t exist…”
His sudden tears and caught Ping Zhaofu by surprise, comforted him in a flustered tone, “How is it possible, he is your brother. Naturally, he is the person who cares about you the most in this world.”
“Yes, Master surely ca….”
From an angle that Ping Zhaofu couldn’t see, Cha Xuanyu glared at Fei’er for interjecting. Fei’er’s heart trembled and hurriedly shut up and silenced.
“Sister-in-law, can you push me for a walk around the lake?”
“Oh… okay.” Ping Zhaofu nodded.
Fei’er and Rou’er started to panic, but they couldn’t think of a way to stop them.
“I’m always alone, and finally I have someone to talk to,” the pure eyes revealed the sadness of loneliness. “Can I chat with sister-in-law to relieve my loneliness?” His sincere smile made it impossible for anyone to say no, including Ping Zhaofu.
“Of course.” Ping Zhaofu explained to Rou’er, “Go back and get more clothes for me, I will accompany Second Master to the lake for a walk.”
Fei’er and Rou’er looked at each other, they both all looked pale.
Ping Zhaofu thought they were afraid to leave without permission, so she said, “Don’t worry, it’s my instructions. No one will blame you.”
“You both can go, I’ll be with sister-in-law.” Although Cha Xuanyu looked at them with a smile, they both felt huge pressure at the same time.
“Then we’ll go and return soon.” Fei’er thought that she must rush back as soon as possible.
“By the way, remember to help me to get the steamed buns from the kitchen.” Ping Zhaofu suddenly remembered this.
“Are you hungry, sister-in-law?” Cha Xuanyu asked in a concerned tone, “I have some cakes with me, do you want to eat?”
“It’s not for me to eat, it’s for the fish.”
“Fish?” Cha Xuanyu was curious.
“Yes, I heard Fei’er and the others said that there are fish in the lake. If you feed them with steamed buns and they will swarm over.”
“Then I would like to join too.” Cha Xuanyu told Fei’er, “Could you help me get one too please? If the kitchen doesn’t have one, just make two fresh new ones.”
The sentence sounded very normal and nothing surprising, but the smart Fei’er immediately caught the real intention that he was trying to send them away.
It was the right moment to apply this. It was too early for lunch. The chances of having leftover steamed buns were very low, not to mention that all kitchen workers had big stomachs. Even if there were leftovers, nine out of ten will be eaten. Moreover, it would take at least half an hour to make a new steamed bun.
In this half an hour, anything could happen.
“Hurry up, go on, what are you doing in a daze?” Cha Xuanyu urged her by waving his hand.
Rou’er pulled the corner sleeve of Fei’er’s clothes, obviously not knowing what to say.
“Let’s go.” Fei’er whispered. She made a quick decision. If there’s no leftover buns in the kitchen, she would go out and buy directly. Luckily, Cha house located not far from busy street market. If were to buy from outside, they should be back in less than half an hour.
The two maids turned around after walking a few steps, with a worried expression on their faces.
Ping Zhaofu didn’t know what concern them, and asked Cha Xuanyu, “This chair has wheels? How to use it?”
“This is called a wheelchair. You can hold on to the handle at the back and push it forward.”
“Let me try.”
“Be careful not to overthrow it,” Cha Xuanyu joked.
“If you say so, I’m under a lot of pressure, then I must be extra careful.” Ping Zhaofu also joked back.
Ping Zhaofu held the handle at the back of the wheelchair and pushed forward cautiously.
“It can really move.” Seeing this kind of chair for the first time in her life, Ping Zhaofu was full of curiosity.
“Thank you, sister-in-law.”
“You are most welcome.”

“Leaning on her shoulder?” Cha Xiangye’s expression changed as he clenched his fists.
“Yes.” the man stood next to Cha Xiangye, whispered and nodded.
This person was sent by Cha Xiangye to monitor Ping Zhaofu. His name is He Wei. He knew martial arts, and his movements were light and could closely monitored without being discovered by the parties concerned.
Every action of Ping Zhaofu and the two maids were all reported to Cha Xiangye by him, so eventually Cha Xiangye knew that Ping Zhaofu had seen Cha Xuanyu, and Cha Xuanyu successfully dismissed the obstructing maids. Created an opportunity to be alone with Ping Zhaofu.
He Wei also mentioned that Ping Zhaofu took the initiative to take off her clothes to cover Cha Xuanyu and she pushed him to the lake to watch the fish. When Cha Xuanyu leaned his head on Ping Zhaofu’s shoulder, Ping Zhaofu not only didn’t push away, but also circled around his shoulder. The two of them were very affectionate and intimate.
Cha Xiangye felt a volcano surging and tumbling in his chest and was about to erupt.
So fast!?
This happened too fast!
He always thought that Ping Zhaofu must be different from the first two wives, but the insecurity of being betrayed many times still made him wanted to test. They both just met for the first time, and they already hugged each other alone. Then what about next? Going to bed in two days?
He was too naïve to think that Ping Zhaofu had a different behaviour from the first two wives, but he had forgotten that she was born with poor background, that might be even more greedy than anyone else!
He Wei, who told the truth about what he saw with his eyes, could feel Cha Xiangye’s burning anger even without even looking at his face. He sighed slightly, although the sound was low, but Cha Xiangye still heard it…
He was sympathized by his servant.
The lower jaw trembled because of the clenching of the back roots of his teeth.
Cha Xiangye shook his sleeves angrily and strode towards the main house.
