Early in the morning, Lin Taiping was awakened by the roar of a beast. He shook his dazed head and crawled out from a pile of cow hooves. Behind him, the minotaurs were snoring loudly, and Tulu was still hugging a bone, licking it and mumbling in his sleep, “Delicious... another... two...”
“This guy is just a glutton!” Lin Taiping rubbed his chin, speechless. But what left him even more speechless was that the most beautiful minotaur girl, Lya, had also opened her sleepy eyes.
Seeing his figure so close, she blushed and bit her hoof, her big cow eyes blinking, “Dear, you’re up so early. Do you want me to dance the hula for you?”
Very impressive and powerful, Lin Taiping had been hesitating about whether to go out for a walk, but hearing that “dear” made him immediately decide to run out as fast as he could, completely ignoring Lya’s resentful gaze.
More than half an hour later, he was leisurely strolling on the beach. This was a typical morning on Demon Island, with black mist shrouding the desolate wilderness, fresh air blowing in his face, and the azure sea slowly lapping the shore. A few white seabirds circled in the sky, emitting pleasant chirps.
“A strange island, desolate yet mysterious.” Lin Taiping shrugged indifferently. From last night to now, he had felt like he was in a dream, but the reality told him that everything was real.
This desolate Demon Island was located in a remote corner of the Jiala Sea, not very large and with no rich resources. The entire island was surrounded by black mist, and few merchant ships passed by, making it a worthless deserted island.
Decades ago, the exiled minotaur tribe arrived here through a one-way portal. To their surprise, a dark elf tribe had already settled on the northern part of the island. Although both belonged to the dark races, the relationship between minotaurs and dark elves was not good, and with the limited resources on the barren island, conflicts were inevitable.
However, after several intense battles, neither side had the ability to defeat the other, so they had no choice but to divide the island. The minotaur tribe settled in the valley on the southern part of the island, backed by the White Wave Beach and facing the barren Black Bone Mountain. Only in the nearby dark wasteland did some magical beasts live, barely enough for them to hunt for survival.
“So, if we just stay trapped on this island, we might not even have enough food to eat.” Recalling Tulu’s introduction, Lin Taiping looked at Demon Island and rubbed his chin in distress, “Well, maybe the most important thing now is to find a way to leave this desolate island, and then...”
In fact, even the impoverished minotaur tribe had something valuable to offer, like the thing he had been thinking about since last night. If he could take it to the wealthy islands, it would surely bring huge profits.
But the problem was that Demon Island was too remote, not on any shipping route. Worse still, the minotaurs, who had arrived through a one-way portal, knew nothing about navigation, let alone shipbuilding.
In other words, without a ship, he and the minotaurs couldn’t leave Demon Island. Without leaving Demon Island, they couldn’t earn money to improve their lives. Without earning money to improve their lives... well, this was forcing him to wear animal skins, grow a beard, eat tree roots, and eventually become a son-in-law of the minotaur tribe.
“I need a ship.” Thinking of that terrifying scenario, Lin Taiping shivered and looked up at the sky resentfully, “Ah, if only I had a ship that could sail far, even if it’s very simple and old... Hmm?”
Well, maybe the Dark God really heard his resentment. In the next moment, with the sound of a low horn echoing, the outline of a ship slowly appeared through the layers of mist on the distant horizon.
No, it wasn’t an illusion. In his stunned gaze, the pirate ship with a skull flag became increasingly clear in the morning mist. The slightly damaged white sails billowed in the sea breeze, propelling the ship forward at high speed. Even as it approached the shallow waters, it didn’t slow down, and then... well, it crashed into the reef and met a tragic end.
In the next moment, seawater gushed in through the hole, causing the ship to tilt and sink slowly. In the chaotic commotion, dozens of pirates hurriedly jumped off the ship and scrambled onto the White Wave Beach.
Strangely, these fierce and brutal pirates now looked terrified and uneasy. The one-eyed giant leading them glanced back at the deck, his arm holding the large axe trembling as if he had seen a flood of beasts, “Damn it, let’s get out of here!”
Boom! Before he could finish speaking, the sealed deck suddenly exploded, sending wood chips and dust flying. A wild and beautiful woman in a red dress leaped out, landing gracefully like a light bird.
Red hair, red skirt, red lips—this vibrant and spirited beauty was like a flickering flame, instantly illuminating the dim beach.
In an instant, the entire beach fell silent, stunned by her presence. But then, a pirate with a gold tooth suddenly screamed hysterically, “Christine, you bitch, how far are you going to chase us...”
With a loud thud, the gold-toothed pirate was thrown back, crashing into a distant reef and falling to the ground, spitting blood and with broken ribs.
In the eerie silence, the red-dressed woman, Christine, stepped forward nonchalantly. Unbelievably, her slender white left hand was holding a massive iron anchor, and she moved as lightly as if she were dancing, “Shut up! Scum like you should have been turned into bounty long ago!”
Stunned, the dozens of pirates were collectively speechless. The one-eyed giant shivered involuntarily and then howled in despair, “Damn bitch, I’ll fight you to the death!”
In an instant, facing the threat of death, the dozens of pirates burst with courage and viciously charged forward, their swords, curved knives, and battle axes slashing down. But all of this was in vain.
Swinging the heavy iron anchor like a mountain, Christine advanced without hesitation. Almost every swing of the anchor sent several pirates flying, and she even muttered, “One, ten gold coins; two, twenty gold coins; three... hmm, this one is more expensive, worth fifty gold coins!”
Lin Taiping, watching from the hill, was deeply impressed and suddenly felt that he would be betraying the title of “Mature Woman Lover” if he didn’t go down and get her autograph.
In fact, while making this comment, he had already walked down the hill, leisurely crossing his arms and slowly approaching the bloody battlefield.
Suddenly seeing an unexpected visitor, both sides in the battle were surprised. Christine just glanced at him casually, but the dozens of pirates looked puzzled, and the one-eyed giant growled viciously, “Pretty boy, get lost, or I’ll gouge out your eyes!”
“Is it illegal to look?” Lin Taiping stood there with a smile, determined to watch the spectacle, “I’m just passing by, you can continue, no need to acknowledge me.”
Bastard! If he could spare the time, the one-eyed giant swore he would kill this pretty boy, but now, just dealing with Christine was already making him struggle, “Damn it, if you don’t run, I’ll feed you to the sharks after I deal with this bitch!”
Deal with? Who’s dealing with whom? Christine protested angrily, smashing another pirate back, but as she retracted the anchor, she suddenly paled and coughed, covering her mouth.
Her hand was clearly stained with blood, and her whole body curled up involuntarily, “Damn, why now...”
Unexpectedly, the dozens of pirates were stunned into silence. But after a few seconds, the one-eyed giant suddenly roared in joy, “It’s true! The rumor is true, she’s really cursed!”
Like seeing a glimmer of hope, the dozens of pirates hesitated for a moment and then viciously charged forward, their curved knives slicing through the air with a cold gleam.
Coughing violently, Christine covered her bleeding lips, enduring the intense pain and barely managing to swing the anchor, knocking down a few unlucky ones. But the effort made her pale and retreat a few steps.
At this moment, the one-eyed giant raised his axe high and slashed down viciously, “Bitch, go to... damn!”
Suddenly feeling a burning sensation on his back, the one-eyed giant instinctively bent over. At the same time, a burning fireball whizzed past, grazing his scalp and hitting the pirate behind him who couldn’t dodge in time.
In the screams, the unfortunate pirate turned into a torch. The one-eyed giant, still in shock, touched his hair, and the dozens of pirates were stunned, turning to look.
In their stunned gaze, Lin Taiping was smiling and leaning against a reef, the magic ring on his outstretched left index finger reflecting the sunlight—
“Gentlemen, I just remembered, I’m the main character in the hero-saving-the-beauty plot. What do you think?”
