A few hours earlier, at the hut.

Klaus only sighed as he looked over at Meriel, who was sleeping on his shoulder in the hut.

They were newlyweds, and she slept soundly after seducing him with obscene language and sweeping his thighs.

He half-closed his eyes and meditated as he watched the day begin to light up.

A red spot on Meriel’s neck caught his eye as he was thinking that his throbbing arms shouldn’t be used for a while. He initially assumed she had been bitten by an insect while fleeing in the forest.

Regardless of how ignorant Klaus was, he knew what the spot on Meriel’s neck meant.

“Crazy bastard!”

He wanted to dash back to the forest and grab Craig by the neck. He regretted fleeing without fighting to save Meriel.

‘It would have sufficed to knock him down and flee.’

But it was late at night, and they were in the woods. Meriel’s safety took precedence over his own rage.

Craig was the Colt’s heir. That made him the Empire’s most dangerous assassin.

“Damn it.”

But it was like fleeing from fear.

Meriel was discovered in the woods, her dress ripped and her face smeared with dirt and tears. She was crawling on the ground, terrified, shaking her body in terror.

He couldn’t get her cry out of his head.

He couldn’t forgive himself for putting her in such a predicament.

He promised her that he would give her a reason to live, but he put her in danger as a result of his actions.

‘I promised I’d support, and I’d also protect her from the emperor…’

The Palletas have made her a target because she married him.

‘Craig’

He didn’t want to say anything about him.

Meriel dozed off, but her complexion was blemished because she had fainted from shock.

When he turned her head, a red mark on Meriel’s neck caught his attention once more.

He wasn’t looking forward to seeing Craig again, but he did.

To make matters worse, he became aware of Meriel’s presence. He discovered Meriel was in Dustin.

No, perhaps he was convinced as soon as he learned of Klaus’ marriage.

‘But the only person I will only marry is Meriel’

He exhaled a sigh.

Klaus closed his eyes slowly, listening to the sound of Meriel’s breathing as she exhaled shallowly.

Exhaustion accompanied the pain in his arm.

He dozed off, keeping an eye on his surroundings in case something unexpected happened. The owner of the hut then appeared, found Klaus and Meriel, and reported it.

Fortunately, the hut’s owner had a communication channel through which he could directly contact the Anti-Duke Fortress’s Civil Service Department.

Meriel couldn’t believe it, but the hut was home to the free people.

It wasn’t their place to live.

They returned to the Grand Duke’s palace with the help of the hut owner after he met with the knights.

During that time, Meriel was not awakened at all.
