Gu Yeze gave Bai Weijin a glare, for she was thinking about other people at the moment.
“I…”
Before she finished the word, Gu Yeze planted a big kiss on her lips.
An intercourse began.
…
Despite the farce, it was business as usual in the pub after Bai Weijin and Gu Yeze left.
Gu Yeyu and Chu Jiran were still there. The mere thought of what had happened scared Gu Yeyu still when she sobered up. Upset, she kept scratching her head.
Chu Jiran sighed and rubbed her head.
“You willful girl.”
Gu Yeyu lowered her head with regret about putting Bai Weijin in danger. Luckily, her brother didn’t find the time to get even with her.
A sharp pang of sadness overwhelmed Gu Yeyu when what Chu Jiran said came to mind.
“Let me drive you home.” Chu Jiran patted her on the head.
Yet he made no mention of what happened during the day. Instead of hurting her feelings, Chu Jiran would rather feign ignorance of her love for him.
Gu Yeyu nodded and followed him tamely.
Both remained silent as the car pulled away steadily. Whether in driving or anything else, Chu Jiran always showed a steady temperament and brilliant skills.
Rubbing her hands together, Gu Yeyu asked after some hesitation.
“Jiran, who is she?”
Chu Jiran paused.
A moment ago, he just stood there and watched Bai Weijin being brought away by her husband.
Moreover, Gu Yeze was his best friend who meant a lot to him.
“A person I cannot love,” replied Chu Jiran dejected.
“How come?”
Gu Yeyu pursed her mouth. In her eyes, no one could rival Chu Jiran, even her brother.
Chu Jiran smiled and reached out to touch her head.
“Life isn’t a bed of roses. Things don’t always work out as you wish.”
As he said that, Chu Jiran cast a glance at Gu Yeyu in the hope that she could understand him and give up the unrealistic expectations.
Gu Yeyu looked at him
She was no fool and totally saw what he meant. However, Gu Yeyu made no reply but thought to herself, ‘What if I insist on making it happen?’
Both went quiet.
The car drove to Gu’s house. It was quite late. Grandma Gu had called Gu Yeyu but the latter didn’t answer the phone.
She and Maid Wu had been anxiously waiting for the girl at the door.
“You naughty girl, where have you been?” Grandma Gu breathed a sigh of relief at the sight of her granddaughter and soon gave Gu Yeyu a good scolding.
“Yeyu, why didn’t you answer the phone? You grandma has been worried about your safety.” Maid Wu also frowned and gave her a lecture.
Gu Yeyu showed an aggrieved look and remained silent.
Grandma Gu turned away to look at Chu Jiran, smiling, “Jiran, thanks for sending her back.”
“Not at all. Yeyu is my sister, it’s my duty to take care of her,” replied Chu Jiran with a smile.
Grandma Gu was pleased with his answer, while Gu Yeyu showed a gloomy look.
“I’m not your sister.” She muttered under her breath.
“Shut it,” Grandma Gu gave her a glare and soon smiled at Chu Jiran.
“Sorry to have put you to so much trouble, Jiran. You’re welcome to come for dinner at any time.”
She liked Chu Jiran very much. Capable and upright, the young man grew up with Yeyu and was pretty familiar with her disposition.
“Thank you, granny. I’ll come to see you next time.” Chu Jiran was ready to leave, for it was time for Grandma Gu to have a sleep.
Grandma Gu smiled and nodded, patting Gu Yeyu on the arm.
“Come with me.”
Gu Yeyu’s countenance changed. She turned to Chu Jiran for help, while he just gave her a wink.
As soon as Chu Jiran left, Grandma Gu’s face darkened.
“Where did you go, with a strong smell of alcohol? I was worried about you.”
Gu Yeyu bent her head and made no explanation. Every time she got into trouble, Gu Yeyu would behave like this so that others softened their attitude and forgave this smart and cute girl.
Unfortunately, Grandma Gu was totally different, since she was experienced enough to see through the girl’s trick.
Gu Yeyu had no choice but to confess, “I… I had a few drinks with my friend. Luckily, Weijin came to take me back, or I couldn’t have been home now.”
Bai Weijin?
It occurred to Grandma Gu that she hadn’t seen Bai Weijin for a long while.
She was really annoyed at being cheated by Bai Weijin when she got to know the real purpose behind their marriage. Also, she witnessed how Bai Weijin treated her father.
It left her a bad impression of the woman.
After learning about her family from Gu Yeze, Grandma Gu started to understand her but could not forget the scene yet.
The old lady made no reply. Gu Yeyu pulled at her sleeve, asking, “Grandma, do you hear me?”
Grandma Gu gave her a black look, “Go to take a bath. Your body smells!”
Gu Yeyu left.
Grandma Gu heaved a sigh, “It’s long since we met Weijin.”
Maid Wu replied, “It is.”
But for those things, Grandma Gu was pretty happy about having Bai Weijin as her granddaughter-in-law. Anyway, they’d got along with each other for a while.
Time healed everything.
If Bai Weijin was willing to be a good wife and sever her ties with Bai family, Grandma Gu felt it unnecessary to take the dispute to heart.
Maid Wu found the old lady much less angry.
She added, “We all know Yeze is good at judging a person, so why don’t we trust his choice? There must be some merit in her.”
Grandma Gu nodded. She did trust Gu Yeze in whatever aspect. A moment later, she let out a sigh.
“You’re right. The one I need to worry about isn’t Yeze but Yeyu…”
She took a look at Gu Yeyu’s room.
How could she be unaware of the girl’s love for Chu Jiran? However, Grandma Gu had no idea whether he had a liking for her granddaughter. It he had, the two people could be a perfect match.
Grandma Gu was glad to see that.
