As Gu Yeze and Bai Weijin stepped into the company hand in hand, the crowd changed their way of talking about her.

Bai Weijin just ignored those changeable snobs, while Zhang Lanxin was happy about that.

She seemed to have totally forgotten being scolded by Bai Weijin and kept chattering away around the latter.

Bai Weijin had no time to chat with the girl. A piece of news drew her attention:

The Head of Bai’s Group Admitted to Hospital as Bai’s Went Broke.

Bai Weijin picked up the newspaper and saw Bai Hongbo pictured with an oxygen mask covering his face. Having watched Bai’s Group closely, she knew no news had been heard about Du Meihua since she absconded with the money.

Bai Hongbo begged all his relatives and friends for help but met with rebuffs everywhere.

“Next you’re going to handle all the work. Ask Gu Yeze for advice if necessary. I need to go out.” Bai Weijin laid down the newspaper and told Zhang Lanxin.

She would like to visit Bai Hongbo at the hospital.

Zhang Lanxin nodded. Before she realized what Bai Weijin had said, the latter strode out of the office.

It was not difficult to find out which ward Bai Hongbo stayed at.

With her bag in her hand, Bai Weijin walked step by step towards the room.

She approached it, and sounds of a conversation came from inside. Bai Weijin stopped.

“Though we got divorced, I do have a rightful claim on our joint property.”

Du Meihua? Bai Weijin didn’t find the time to discover her whereabouts. Unexpectedly, she turned up at the moment.

The sound of Bai Hongbo was quite faint, “Joint property? We’ve been married for decades, but you ran off when I was in trouble. Now you’re talking about our joint property?”

The utterance left him breathless.

Du Meihua gave a snort, totally different from the original meek woman.

“Where are the property certificate as well as other belongings?”

“The house was confiscated. How come I still have the certificate?”

Du Meihua raised her voice.

“Do you mean I can get not a penny after staying with you for decades?”

Bai Hongbo made no response. He was in no mood for any further conversation with the ingrate.

“Property? Who are you to take the property of my family?”

Bai Weijin pushed the door open and walked in. Du Meihua trembled with fear at the sight of the girl, and then a look of pure hatred flashed across her face.

When she saw Bai Yinya, the latter seemed like a shadow of her former self in a trance.

Bai Yinya kept muttering to herself, “My baby, baby…”.

Du Meihua paled with shock. It was not until then that she learned her daughter became pregnant and then lost her baby in a plot. Du Meihua was certainly unhappy about failing to form a marital tie with Zhao family.

It was said that Du Meihua relied entirely on Bai Hongbo for her living. In fact, this woman was shrewd enough to leave herself room for maneuver, in case Bai Hongbo cheated on her when her beauty faded one day.

Du Meihua got scared about Bai Weijin’s laughter.

She looked at Bai Weijin in horror.

“What are you laughing at? Is there anything wrong with it?”

It was ridiculous that he considered her as a gentle and kind woman before.

Bai Weijin stared coolly at Du Meihua who looked guilty, ready to show her the evidence.

“There’s no joint property. All is in Weijin’s name,” said Bai Hongbo in a low but clear voice.

“What did you say?”

Puzzled, Bai Weijin and Du Meihua asked in unison.

Bai Weijin watched her father with mixed emotions.

“You can check the record. The house, the car and the equity are all in the name of Weijin. I’ve given them away to her,” added Bai Hongbo.

Du Meihua screamed, “Impossible! You must be lying!”

Bai Weijin turned away to look at Bai Hongbo. He had no need to make any more utterance now.

Bai Hongbo opened his eyes and gave Du Meihua an icy stare. It was the first time that he looked at her in this way.

Du Meihua finally understood why Bai Weijin was such a strong and shrewd girl. It turned out that she really took after her dad, for her mom was an out-and-out cowardly woman.

That woman was unlikely to have such a forceful daughter.

“I gave all my property to Weijin the moment you left Bai family. What do you think you can get?” Bai Hongbo looked coldly at Du Meihua.

Du Meihua turned away, to find that Bai Weijin looked so collected that she was unable to judge whether the girl got the picture.

She was panicky instantly.

Du Meihua had had a complete plan and even consulted her lawyer to make sure her and Bai Yinya’s best interests could be safeguarded.

To her astonishment, Bai Hongbo was only too shrewd. Du Meihua began to regret having run away so rashly.

She should have stayed at least after pocketing all the properties.
