It took time to attract Gu Yeze. The more crazily she pursued him, the more possible it would be to arouse his disgust. When Gu Yeze was not noticing her, Tan Xin cast a contemptuous look at Bai Weijin, who was busy cooking the meal in the kitchen.
“I got to go. She seems to have misunderstood us. You’d better explain it to her, I guess.” Tan Xin had a gentle look in her eyes while saying to Gu Yeze.
Yet there were hints behind her advice that Bai Weijin was an unreasonable person.
Gu Yeze just gave a nod, without thinking about what she might be suggesting.
After Tan Xin left, Gu Yeze crossed his arms and walked towards the kitchen with a frown.
“What makes you annoyed?” He opened his mouth finally.
Bai Weijin pretended not to hear that. Gu Yeze came up reaching out to grab her arm, while she dodged aside.
“Why me?” Bai Weijin dropped her gaze, asking.
Her sudden question left Gu Yeze baffled: “What?”
Bai Weijin would like to give a further explanation but stopped very soon. “Nothing. Let’s have dinner.” In a bad mood, she hadn’t cooked the meal well.
Gu Yeze looked unhappily at the half-cooked and burnt dishes on the table.
“Is this the stuff you’ve made?” He asked, annoyed.
Bai Weijin slammed the dish down on the table, “My cooking is just like this. So, you might as well find a gentle wife skilled at cooking, President Gu, if you don’t want them.”
Whenever she spoke like that, Bai Weijin must be either teasing Gu Yeze or mad at him.
Now she was obviously not teasing. Gu Yeze wondered when he had offended her.
“You’re being difficult on purpose.” Gu Yeze was also angry, his face falling.
“You can marry whoever is not so difficult as me. You knew my character before we got married.” Bai Weijin went upstairs with these words.
“Shit.”
It was long since Gu Yeze had such a fierce look on his face.
…
Bai Weijin sat alone by the bed, her eyes fixed on their marriage agreement.
‘Why did you marry me after you had a crush on someone else? To make her jealous?’ Bai Weijin clasped the paper in her hands, thinking to herself.
The confident look of Tan Xin made her even more suspicious of the woman’s relationship with Gu Yeze.
All that Gu Yeze had done to her came to mind. She thought of his tenderness and grumpiness.
It was him that took her under his wing when she needed help, fought on her side when others betrayed her, and fixed those who drooled over her.
‘Gu Yeze, you’re really a born actor.’
Bai Weijin thought Gu Yeze had gone out, for he was indeed pissed off. It seemed that only she could make him fly into a rage.
She just wondered for whom he went into a sulk this time.
Bai Weijin dialed a number.
“Weijin?”
“Yeyu, would you like to go shopping with me?”
Ten minutes later, Bai Weijin and Gu Yeyu met at the Century Mall.
Gu Yeyu was sensitive this time, which was rarely seen. She found there was something wrong with Bai Weijin, asking, “What’s up, Weijin?”
There was an awkward moment when Bai Weijin didn’t know how to answer the question. She never had any friend before, let alone bosom pal.
Therefore, she always bit the bullet herself, without pouring out her heart to anyone.
Neither had she gone out drinking with several girl-friends all night long, but now she stood here with Gu Yeyu.
“Nothing. Just on a whim.” Bai Weijin shook her head, for she had no idea how to explain the whole thing to the girl.
Gu Yeyu knew Bai Weijin must be keeping something from her. Being thoughtful enough, she made no detailed enquiries but held Bai Weijin’s hand and walked inside.
“Weijin, Yeyu?”
Both turned around on hearing the voice.
Chu Jiran was surprised, “You’re also here.”
Gu Yeyu froze.
It was quite long since they met. After he turned her down, Chu Jiran never contacted her.
“Jiran? Why are you here?” Bai Weijin finally flashed a smile.
“Eh… I have something to buy.” While speaking, Chu Jiran cast a glance at Gu Yeyu, only to find her staring intently at the ground.
Gu Yeyu’s pride wouldn’t allow her to look up or say hello to him.
She could both bare her soul in front of Bai Weijin and burst into tears in the middle of the night.
But in the face of Chu Jiran, she must be calm and reserved.
Bai Weijin didn’t chip in, leaving some space for both of them.
“Yeyu, why don’t you look at me? Are the shoes so attractive?” Chu Jiran paused, and then went up, patting Yeyu on the head.
Gu Yeyu raised her head, giving a reluctant smile, “Jiran… What a coincidence.”
Chu Jiran also smiled, wryly, but he had no choice. If Gu Yeyu couldn’t come around, they were bound to become more and more estranged.
Bai Weijin let out a sigh, asking, “What are you gonna buy yourself, Mr. Chu? Why not ask someone to do the errand?”
She deliberately teased Chu Jiran, while signaling for him to change the topic.
Yet Chu Jiran seemed to totally miss her hint. He looked Gu Yeyu in the eye, replying, “A gift for a friend who means a lot to me.”
Bai Weijin was confused. She had no idea who Chu Jiran was referring to, since Gu Yeze seemed to be his only best friend.
She smiled and shrugged, while Gu Yeyu was completely stupefied.
“I’m thirsty and want to buy some drink.” As soon as she finished the words, Gu Yeyu slipped off swiftly.
All this left Bai Weijin dumbfounded.
“Yeyu’s birthday is coming.” Chu Jiran explained while looking at Gu Yeyu’s receding figure.
Bai Weijin instantly knew why.
It turned out that Chu Jiran came to pick a gift for Gu Yeyu. She must have guessed that and escaped in a fluster.
Chu Jiran did care about Gu Yeyu, but not in the way she wanted.
